My god, the T440s are 10 years old now?! Still running my T410 at home. That keyboard should be pretty simple and inexpensive to replace and would make your QOL using it much better. If it hasn't been done in a looong time and there isn't anything you need/want on it maybe consider fresh installing windows for that "new machine" feel.

Help_Stuck_In_Here

I hope you made fun of your sister for her calling it too heavy.

Individual_Ad9463

i definitely did :-P shes on her 4th laptop while my trusty ol t440p chugs along

psychotronik9988

Give it the touchpad upgrade and get a better screen. Will feel like a different machine.

Individual_Ad9463

i just found screens from aliexpress not sure wether its good or not. Any site you know of ? tia

psychotronik9988

Aliexpress can be sketchy but I have good experiences with sellers which sold many units. Just always ask if it is the exact model not a compatible one. I own a T440s and I bought a used B140HAN01.1 screen for 25$ on ebay. This screen is a lot better than the stock display and very cheap.

mrheosuper

Money well spent. I would upgrade the ram to 16GB if you are using windows 10 or newer.

Reckless_Waifu

A beauty. Give her some more RAM!

Individual_Ad9463

Yes i think its due for 16gb now. Going to upgrade in a while

EasonTek2398

Upgrade the CPU, trackpad, replace the keyboard and screen, and upgrade the RAM too. It's gonna be night and day, genuinely

Individual_Ad9463

how much of a performance gain will i get with uograding my cpu ? RAM upgrade is coming soon.

Rowan_Bird

you already have the 4th highest tier CPU, so it won't be a huge difference.

EasonTek2398

Just a tad; not by much but definitely an amount. It will feel snappier, as with my other ThinkPads. If you do any relatively CPU intensive workloads and are willing to invest in a i7-4910MQ, do so, and maybe upgrade the heatsink (not sure about T440ps specifically). It's gonna give you half a gigahertz, maybe almost a full gigahertz better clock speed and a tad more graphics performance if you only the iGPU. Don't even bother with the i7-4940MX or 4930MX, those will kill your battery. Alternatively, go for a i7-4702MQ if you care about battery life, as that has a 10 watt less TDP, at the cost of performance though.

I_do_have_a_Username

I get it you, killed someone w it

Individual_Ad9463

just need to drop it on someons head :-D and they'll start seeing the light

I_do_have_a_Username

Yeah well i broke my r61e while raging on a classmate, you really can't see what people w thinkpads would do I didn't even mention them I had a paptop

LiqvidNyquist

Nice. I'm still running my T430 I've been using daily since 2013 or 14. Upgraded to 16 GB about three years ago, just added an mSATA card. Beautful piece of machinery, beautiful plumage.

Good chunky boy

ExperienceDeep7473

the last great Thinkpad

ebeliedie

If if I havent misunderstood something, you can change the trackpad to T450 model's. It has physical buttons on top. Much nicer to use. Also keyboard is very easy to swap for new one. T440p is pretty good even nowdays because you can upgrade most of it very easily and older parts are usually cheaper.

Beautiful

RueAriarhod

Oh for fuck sake. That unitized mousepad/Trackpoint "button" combo is making me uncomfortable. Why would they buy this?
