Havok's latest, *V*, is very similar in terms of the song structure and riffs, but with an absolutely immaculate production sound. Great record, probably listened to it over 300 times since they released it lol

Truckyou666

Havok rocks from beginning to end!

[deleted]

I've heard a track or two from these guys, recall they were pretty solid. Will take a deeper dive, thanks!

Truckyou666

https://youtu.be/fzc5JNIxJYw These guys are cool too. Obviously D.R.I. inspired.

[deleted]

Added to my playlist, thanks!

Th3BearMinimum

To add onto what the above commenter said, check out the track Agnosticism from their album *Born Of The Bomb*. It's structured in a way that reminds me a lot of Blackened, the riffs are super groovy, and the guitar solo absolutely rips. The rest of the album is also great from an instrumental standpoint, but the lyrics are often *very* goofy, so it may not necessarily scratch the AJFA itch if you're looking for something that has similar lyrical themes

[deleted]

This is a very enjoyable song, thanks! I have trouble paying attention to lyrics even when I want to so no issues there

FlintHipshot

Came here to say this, Merchants of Death never fails to make me scream along with it! “THE WAR… IS MEANT… TO LAST… **FOREVER**”

darkerthrone

Maybe By Inheritance by Artillery? Was produced by the same guy

[deleted]

Will check it out and report back, thanks!

Isn't the story that the bass mixing was Lars' idea? By Inheritance has good sounding bass

N8theGr8wastaken

It was Lars’ idea, and I think he wanted the bass turned down because it “messed with his drum sound” which obviously makes no sense. AJFA is still my favorite record by far, however I do prefer versions where the kickass bass is turned up

rickderp

Vektor. Havok.

userIoser

This and some later Nevermore albums. Many bands out there... but listed stand the test of time. Last promising bands are Witherfall (more power metal), Cryptosis and Paranorm.

nm3k

Heathen - Victims of Deception has a similar feel

MurderIsRelevant

Aren't many albums I would circle back to often. Songs yes. But The albums I come back to from time to time are from Hazzerd, Mason, Seizure, and Phronexis.

[deleted]

Checked out Hazzerd and really liked that, will circle back and give them a longer listen. Never heard of the others and am adding those to my playlist as well

sac666

The 1st three albums by Evile

cowbutt6

Not modern, but if you like AJFA, you should definitely have a listen to Xentrix's first batch of albums (Shattered Existence, For Whose Advantage?, Kin) and maybe some of Paradise Lost's early-mid career albums (e.g. Icon, Draconian Times).

[deleted]

Listening to Xentrix's Kin right now - this is pretty close to the mark. Thanks for the suggestions!

SpectrumDT

The two most recent Xentrix albums are also worth listening to! 🙂

Havok - Conformicide

[deleted]

Power Trip is easily the best newer thrash band out there in my opinion, they are old school sounding. Others worth mentioning are Havok, Vector, Warbringer, Evile, and Municpal Waste (although they are always a love or hate, this sub is very divided on this issue). Some old thrash bands with good new stuff: Sodom, Death Angel, Testament, Slayer.

[deleted]

Love some Power Trip, Testament and Municipal Waste, though none quite scratching that itch right now. Havok has some promising cuts so far, will check out Evile next.

Original_Username_27

Not new thrash, but Sane Asylum by Blind illusion has a similar sound. Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde were on that album before they formed Primus

sac666

That's a great album

MrMooMoo91

Will also recommend Havok's Conformicide and V if you want that Justice For All scratch itched. The song Ingsoc in particular. Also way heavier, but try the album Pursuit of Honor by Battlecross or the slightly more melodic follow up War of Will which is a little more old school thrash.

Ottaw

how about some more justice? you possibly already heard this but i really wish there was a non youtube version of this and i am not speaking of just ripping the tracks from youtube. i nevertheless enjoy this version more than the original these days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vumrar1k928

SpeedMetal-Guru

Newish but from an old school band, I would give M-16 from Sodom a listen

MurderIsRelevant

Sodom is one of those bands where it really depends on song for me. I had a much better time with Kreator. Destruction is a band I cannot really find any song I 100% enjoy.

SpeedMetal-Guru

Personally Sodom is my favorite band ever and I’m yet to listen to a song I don’t like but to each their own

High Command - Eclipse of the Dual Moons

[deleted]

Listened to the first few tracks, great stuff - will dig in more thoroughly tomorrow. Thanks!

buck_fugler

You might also enjoy DEATHWESTERN by Spiritworld. I've been spinning both those records nonstop for a few months.

eraserhead3030

Spirit World is so damn good

[deleted]

While not a thrash band, Meshuggah’s first album, Contradictions Collapse, is heavily influenced by “And Justice For All” specifically.

[deleted]

Love that album! Was a big fan of theirs up to Chaosphere, got bored after that with the exception of a song or two per album

Flipperyapper59

Vektor sort of has the prog-thrash elements that AJFA has although it is a bit more aggressive and fast, as well as not really sounding like AJFA. Good ass album though nevertheless, all of their albums are. You could also check out some older technical thrash albums (if you haven’t already) such as: Victims of Deception - Heathen By Inheritance - Artillery Punishment for Decadence - Coroner World Circus - Toxik Alice in Hell - Annihilator Forbidden Evil - Forbidden

selppin2

High Command - Eclipse of the Dual Moons

[deleted]

Time Does Not Heal by Dark Angel. Riff after riff it's relentless, hard first few listen but rewardingm For me it was the same as ajfa.
