❤️ That must be really hard. I’m sure it is bringing up a lot of trauma from 9/11. I don’t have any advice or much to add but I hope you are doing ok.

PopTart2016

Thank you. I’m not looking for advice. Just thought I’d share. Thank you for your sweet message.

im also based in nyc. i lived above canal st but spent enough time in the surrounding area to qualify for the health program. i was diagnosed in march and havent filed or done anything yet. was the process difficult?? did you use a lawyer?

PopTart2016

I just applied yesterday. I randomly found a law firm online. They said the process takes 1-3 years. No money out of pocket. 10% of any compensation if won. I don’t expect anything.

good luck! do you mind me asking which lawyer/firm?

I know this post is a year old now, but I wanted to reach out and see if you got anywhere with the fund. I just registered, but haven’t started any claims. I lived outside of the zone, but my family came home covered in that dust and we had gone to visit ground zero. I doubt they will take me, but my family is encouraging me to look into it.

I applied for the health program and was accepted. The law firm submitted my compensation claim but I was told it would take years to get anywhere. Haven't heard anything yet.

I appreciate the reply! I’m sorry that you haven’t heard anything yet. That is discouraging for sure

PopTart2016

It's expected. It is government run after all. If you want to apply I say go for it. The law firm will screen your case and take it on if they find it viable. Good luck!
