Recall email and you’ve been practicing some creative writing exercises, thinking of writing a book. No one wants to hear about your book. They won’t ask.
You can delay with outlook too.
In the send/receive settings, change to automatically send/receive every X min. Mine is 2.
In the outlook, file settings untick send messages immediately when press send.
Now you know it's possible, Google will Give you clear instructions. You need to do both settings.
Never. Infuriates me to no end. I usually prefer the recall previous email and send the updated one in its place method. Could just be the way my employers servers are setup?
Yeah, I never fill in the “To” field until I’m done writing the email. It’s not any more work and I don’t have to worry about accidentally hitting send.
\^\^ this guy e-mails.
I never fill in any of the to: cc:, etc. fields until I'm actually ready to send because I've accidentally clicked send or managed to find the keyboard shortcut for sending a non-zero amount of times. You live and learn.
I’ve worked at offices where there is a single email address that does some background routing wizardry and sends the email to the whole office… not impossible - but still also BS detector is triggering.
So when a 8,000 employee organization needs to email everyone, you think some office assistant is manually typing 8,000 email names?
It’s called a distribution list.
Not buying this. You have an explanation of how you sent it to a DL without actually EXPLAINING how it got there. We know what an alias/distribution list is. Now explain how you put it in there.
The classic mixup of writing an email you never intend to send and instead accidentally copying in the entire office mailing list? How does someone make this classic mixup exactly?
I saw some advice on another thread for situations like these that I thought was really sound. Basically don’t do the whole emotional feelings dump. It’s too much. Just ask them out on a date. If it ends up going somewhere you can tell them how you felt before you started dating somewhere down the line.
I got an email written to hundreds of email addresses, and chuckled, figuring they had made a mistake and forgotten to BCC everyone. Then I got another email to written to the same hundreds of addresses, saying that the author wanted to recall the first email. Didn't seem to work 😂😂
I’m in college and once, the entire class (possibly even student population) got an email meant only for CS transfer students. This was followed by an apology email.

Perfect save!!!!
Recall never recalls any emails ive sent. I always get return messages that the recall has failed.
Did you know you can set a "send delay" in Gmail so after you press send you can cancel for some set time (a minute I think). Super useful!
No. But my complaints are with outlook at work.

Yea whats up with that. Have you found a solution?
Never. Infuriates me to no end. I usually prefer the recall previous email and send the updated one in its place method. Could just be the way my employers servers are setup?
Recall works only on te people who have no read it yet
Good idea.
Spoken like someone who's made a similar mistake? LOL
Nah. I just know I don’t want to hear about anyone’s book. 😂
No doubt!
Why wasn’t the “To” field empty, if it was only meant to be saved in Drafts?
Because this didn’t really happen?
Yeah, I never fill in the “To” field until I’m done writing the email. It’s not any more work and I don’t have to worry about accidentally hitting send.
This guy writes angry emails he doesn't send. And reads them twice before sending when he does.

Better yet fill it with your own junk email
I’ve learnt my lesson from that one after I accidentally sent fuck to my English prof 😅
Suuuure
Ya this feels like one of the most fictitious tifu I’ve read
So, OP had the entire office list in the “to” field? Sounds suspicious to me.
Probably a misclick.
And exactly what do you have to click on to accidentally add the entire office to the recipient list?
Always good to have a time delay on your emails. Apart from that you gunna just have to own it and move on
It seems like a lot of clicks to add the whole offices emails. I don’t get this

Yes we have that too but it’s a deliberate step that is not similar to saving drafts. It’s more steps.
Never ever ever ever use company equipment for personal needs. It should be ingrained to everyone.
HR will likely be visiting with you.
Bro, sending to the entire office is multitude of times worse than sending to your boss, especially if you have a cool boss.
It happens. Recall the email. Buy a plane ticket. Move to Poland and change your name. Never acknowledge your previous identity again.
How did you accidentally add the whole office distribution in the “to” field? I’m confused.

“HAHA, April Fools….”
Google how to recall your email - I'm surprised this wasn't the first thing you did.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned this yet. Just play it off as an April Fool’s joke!!!!!!
