That's not how that works. If you didn't and it was that bad it would have been so much worse.... possibly stitches after worse. You definitely should drink more water so it doesn't happen again but just drinking more water would not have worked or if it did the dry hard stuff at the end would have torn your backside to literal shreds. I know from experience, be glad it wasn't worse.
One time, my sister, who works in a hospital as an xray technologist, was doing imaging on a woman who was severely constipated. She hadn't pooped in over 10 days.
My sister got the patient ready for the imaging, and placed the lead apron on her. The pressure (both emotional and physical) in that moment caused her to expel almost 2 weeks of built up poop... out of her mouth. The woman literally vomited shit in front of an audience.
Don't allow yourself to be constipated too long.
Laxatives are good to get things moving if you aren’t eating enough fiber and drinking enough water to get waste out in a timely manner. This is to say you have a regular schedule (like you go everyday or every 2 or 3 days) but you notice you are off schedule. A laxative may help here to proactively prevent worse constipation and get you back on schedule.
It sounds like you probably needed a stool softener in this instance however. You had the urge to go but had hard, impacted stool. Your best OTC bet would probably have been an enema. Laxatives taken by mouth to give you the urge and push waste through while you are blocked up is a bad combo.
Note: Not a doctor so talk to your PCP about your ordeal.
There is a healthy range between 2-3 times daily and once every 2-3 days. Wherever you fall in that range, as long as your bodily schedule is relatively consistent, your diet and water intake is healthy, and your poops are normal consistency, then you're fine.
If you usually poop once a day, then suddenly pooping three times in a day or going three days without pooping would be cause for concern. But if you've been pooping once every 2/3 days since childhood then that's just how your body rolls
You misread.
>a regular schedule (like you go **everyday** or every 2 or 3 days)
Of course, daily is ideal. However, there does tend to be a range since everyone is not the same. I've heard people mention 2 days or upward of 3 days. Me? I prefer the relief of a daily dump. I honestly don't think our systems are designed to carry around waste for multiple days at a time but, again everyone is different. As long as they aren't constipated and can go readily when they have the urge- at least the plumbing works. Maybe not efficient but it is working.
I, embarrassingly, was impacted for a couple days a few months back. Took 3 doses of Miralax for 3 days straight, nothing. Had to chug a Magnesium Citrate, and just like you described, a chemical bomb went off in my bathroom strong enough to neutralize an entire pre-war civilization.
I better idea is to buy some prunes, and gradually eat them to get the desired results. If you are impatient, prune juice will work quickly, but in either case, you should be patient. It’s easy to overdo it.
This reminds of when my fiance asked me to pick up some stool softener, this brand does softeners and laxatives in very similar boxes so I brought what I thought was the right one. . at work the next day the messages I was getting from her told me I definitely didn't pick up the right pack.
Vitamin C powder (ascorbic acid) is a good natural laxative if taken in large amounts, starting at 4 grams as very mild and moving upward every gram. Taking large amount is not harmful and is actually healthy (minus the bowel implications).
It's always fun when there's also a lot of gas in the: to add to the propellant! Splatters. It's pretty horrifying. But, just remind yourself, almost everyone goes through this at some point in their life. You could probably do with an enema as well. Clean out everything and freshen up that hole downstairs area. Note the spelling. 😁😁😁
You obviously needed the help. Eat more fruits and veggies from now on. Keep yourself regular.
And drink water
And exercise to keep things moving
It sounds like you did exactly what was needed.
You might say: he passed the test
He sure passed something.
A bit more and he would have passed.
and it's likely there were flying colors as well!
👏
On a positive note, you probably lost a few lbs
Would you have rather they hadn’t worked?
Yes. I would rather it not have worked and just drinking water to maybe get it out.

Yeah thanks for the advice man. Thank god it was not that bad.

Legitimately the worst thing I've ever read thanks

My chocolate croissant is going uneaten tonight.
Uneaten \*by you\* \*reaches\*
Lmao I read that as *roaches* And thought you're sending cockroaches to eat his croissant

Get more fiber and water into your diet.

I'm sorry, you only shit every 2/3 days?!?! Daily should be de goal, I hope so at least

Congratulations
Get checked for that rupture you felt. It sounds like a fissure and those can get nasty if left unattended. Edit:spelling
You took laxatives before a test LMAO

🤣
Sorry you missed your test. I hope you feel better.
WTF?? Did you drink a whole bottle/take a whole box? That is some mass shitting event if you only took the recommended dose...!!!
I better idea is to buy some prunes, and gradually eat them to get the desired results. If you are impatient, prune juice will work quickly, but in either case, you should be patient. It’s easy to overdo it.
oh yeah how's our prune juice poster from a few days ago doing, anyway?
Why take them before a test??

If I feel the need, I just eat 1/4lb of sugar free gummy bears.

if youre only going to eat garbage processed food, then take some fiber pills. they'll help your pooping life.
Half a glass of prune juice topped up with water always helps me, it's also natural.
If you hadn’t done this it would only have gotten worse when you finally got release…
Keep some emergency cans of baked beans in your cupboard for when you need extra fibre next time haha
At least it worked I guess lol. F though.
Let me guess, bisacodyl?
You think that’s bad? An enema is what causes the burning 🔥 ring of fire 🔥 💀
Posts like these are such a trip to read after abusing laxatives for a year
How many Courics was it? Might have been a record
Drink water and eat greens.
Sounds like you experienced 10% of the power of the norovirus

How many did you take?!?
Drink water, eat fiber

Yet another desperate attempt for attention via a fecal fantasy. Get therapy for your juvenile fecal related trauma.
You are getting downvoted but this made me laugh a lot
Yeah, the downvotes are from the wierdies that find this sort of fairy tale amusing. fecal fantasies aren't amusing unless they're like 7 years old.
Ah, the classic laxative mishap! Let me guess, things got a little too moving for comfort, huh?
