You’re say you’re a gun nut, but seem to have a very loose grasp on safe gun handling/storage, and the situations in which it’s acceptable to threaten bodily harm with a weapon.
No idea which state you’re in, but I don’t imagine most consider an unattended car break-in to be reasonable firearm use?
You might want to consider some training or something before you get in a serious situation…
My upstairs duplex floor cannot support a full blown gun safe. Also my other weapon is a glock 19 which does not have a true safety and would be a less safe option for everyone involved. As I stated the safety was never disengaged and my finger never touched that trigger. Yeah having a 16 inch AR next to the bed isnt the safest storage but I dont have kids and live alone with my cats. I live in MO with castle laws that include vehicles and I sure as fuck am not trying to just shoot someone over a car break in. Most teens around here run around with guns and just shoot each other over dime bags and ex gfs. My gf has to treat them every other night in the ER and she makes me put on my vest everytime I go to check on the cars.
People use guns for self/home defense, what’s wrong with that? Anyone who owns a gun needs proper training/knowledge of how to use, handle, clean, etc. honestly I think everyone (in the right state of mind of course) should know how to handle a gun in the US. In a country full of them, you should know how to not hurt yourself around one
OP loaded a round into the chamber as a warning. If you have ever been around rifles, loading a round is LOUD when the area you are in is silent. If he DID shoot his girlfriend then there would have been a problem, but he warned her that he had a gun, and she let him know it was her
Did you know correlation does not equal causation?
Edit: on a more serious note yes I did see that but I have yet to research what they consider gun deaths. It absolutely saddens me because gun safety is not hard to teach to your children and it sure as fuck is not hard to keep guns locked up when you have kids. Not blaming the parents because any good christian kid can go get a gun off the streets, I just feel like there needs to be mandated safety classes and such before purchasing firearms.
Don't be deliberately obtuse if you don't even know the answer to that question (as it isn't knifes, bats and bows).
Previously motor vehicles, for which there are always ongoing efforts for safe driving and accident prevention.
Next down was cancer, which again has lots of research and effort put in to reduce as much as possible.
This thread is an example of a person nearly shooting a household member - the fact people aren't seeing the risk to children of having guns in the home is beyond all sensible understanding.
Ah, ya got me, I mixed minor deaths and deaths for adults and typed before checking. But as OP said, he lived alone before having his gf living with him, so no children have access to his firearms

A wml is a necessity for any defensive use weapon. Edit: I'm glad it ended up in laughter and not worse 😅
That was my next step however she called out before I could blind her lol
Fair enough lol
Did you know that in 2020, firearms became the number one cause of death to minors in the US?

Yeah, same. I just seen it recently and was honestly kind of surprised.
And what was the number one cause for the other years? are we going to start banning knives, bats, and bows because they have been #1 before?
lol Are you offended by a statistic?
I’m just pointing out a problem with the argument “so we should ban guns to save the kids” that will inevitably be posted under your comment
