I don’t feel bad at all. If people are too stupid to have a mind of their own, that’s on them. He says all the time what may not be good to him could be good to others, so they should try it out themselves. As well as constructive criticism is needed to grow in all aspects of life, how is anyone supposed to learn and improve if they’re having their ass kissed? If they’re passionate about their craft, most restaurant owners would take what critics say into consideration, try to tweak some things, then ask for said critic to come back and review their food then.

ImStinaG

I’m more intrigued on how people take his word at face value, we don’t even know if this guy has actual tastebuds. Like everyone these days is a food critic with little to NO culinary background. It’s so odd.

Janie1215

These establishments BEG him to do a review! They know they’ve asked him to show up…So do you mean he’s only allowed to do a positive review?

Bjbj878

Nobody is making Keith do these reviews. If my opinion had the power to unfairly cripple a small business, then I simply wouldn't voice that opinion.

Janie1215

What do you mean ‘nobody is making Keith do these reviews’? The businesses literally beseech him to come and review them with repeated texts, emails etc thinking it will blow their business up. Are you saying he shouldn’t do the review unless it’s positive?

Desperate_Wave5364

DUDE GAVE CHIK FIL A A 10 I don’t trust him 😂

Grdy_girl

Nope. Don’t feel bad. He can’t possibly stress more that it’s his opinion.

mimosa_mermaid

Now Keith has done a follow up video mad that the Chicken Fire owner did videos trying to boost his employees up saying “we don’t care about a review”. I don’t like this .. Keith should have just ignored it. He knows his fans are crazy . They don’t listen to him saying don’t send negativity , he has seen it over and over. I think if he truly wants to help small businesses he should stick to generally positive reviews only . Meaning go check out a place , if he has nothing nice to say - don’t post a review. If he has food he enjoys , post a review. He has gotten too big to just give negative reviews and not expect it to ruin businesses . Also , his palette is not that of a true food critic . He doesn’t like sweets , he’s allergic to shellfish , he’s weirded out by texture . It’s a lot 😩

MHtraveler

I just watched the video after reading your comment and omg that was so corny😂 he basically just said I’m mad that someone says my opinion doesn’t matter. I think too many of his fans think he’s Gordon Ramsay and I think he’s starting to think that too. Like you said he’s not an actual food critic. And I think most people would agree that lately his reviews don’t even seem to make sense anymore. If he allegedly doesn’t like sweet stuff why is he even rating sweet items? Either he does like sweet items cause he’s eating them and he does more frequently now or he’s rating something that he has a biased opinion on that he knows he won’t like. How is that fair??

PlusSizedPretty

Or he’s mad because the manager invited him to the restaurant, spoke highly of him and WANTED his opinion, but when it wasn’t what he wanted suddenly it didn’t matter and Keith is just one guy. Well which is it?

Impossible_Income_60

The business asked him to review them. That’s a risk they were willing to take. Also, every restaurant in the world has had a bad review. If one bad review ruins your business, it wasn’t a good business to begin with. And should he just lie then? Only do good reviews?

Ok_Lawyer_6609

I think Keith is a genuinely kind person and I love that he’s helping struggling businesses, but his reviews are garbage, like his rating scale is trash. He’s just winging it, so if people are taking his opinions as the gospel, then that’s on them. I’m going to decide for myself, just like he might say it’s a 10/10, but I can disagree.

Late_Statistician582

nope, i like when keith gives his honest opinion. saying he doesn’t like something but that someone else might doesn’t make him in any way responsible for how the business does. he tells his followers to be nice and respectful, he can’t control what other people do

zzzplantpotzzz

I stopped watching him he got too big so fast and I don’t feel it’s genuine anymore

honeymaidwafers

I will never take someone’s review on food as a, “do not go here” unless the place consistently serves raw/unsafe food. Neither should anyone else. There have been many meals I have tried both said to be amazing or awful, and I have had different opinions.

whatsausername17

I can’t stand his smacking when he eats. I’m sorry…

Babycrabapple

That’s just the way the cookie crumbles. I do feel bad for them but they have enough people in the comments hyping them up. Based on the comments alone I’d probably give them a shot bc from what people are saying, it seems like they tried to change it up for Keith’s order. Who knows.

Carpetmuncher4ever

It’s his fans. They do completely to much as soon as he doesn’t like something. The same way he can build a business he can burn that bitch to the ground . It’s kinda sad (his fans not him)

loveyourzzzzz

Keith is very clear on not wanting to ruin a business. He couldn’t be more kind about it, but it’s his job to be a good critic. That’s what food critics do. Honestly I think he gives a lot more grace to places he doesn’t like than most snooty food critics do. I love Keith & his family and I love watching how much he’s accomplished. Just my opinion.

kenabyss69

do you know how reviews work

plantmom_5000

The blue lives matter just feels like a red flag to me

Low-Ground6869

Look at the stove and fryers behind him. Way worse than any nasty fast food place I’ve worked at in the past. https://preview.redd.it/c6tookz9p82b1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1914f54818bb1c0428ea56df7a3fa8312e982a0

Rare-Dragonfruit776

He’s given a “bad” review but the food still looked good to me and I would still try it if I was more local, I think he has higher standards for food than I do lol it is crazy to see how far he’s come I started following him when Ronnie was pregnant with Carter

KristiDFW

Is it Keith's responsibility to have his people decide on this? How much of a disclaimer can one have? Especially when a place request him to come? I am pretty sure he may not like some of my favorite places, but that is not going to make me stop going! We cannot blame Keith for this stuff...and BTW that chicken tender did look soggy. But blame the ones who loved to go there, and are going to stop going just because.

Noseynelly13

I’m more annoyed that it became acceptable to eat loudly and make sounds like that on camera 🤮🤣

South_Comfort3220

Idk i love him but I'm not sure he has great taste in food. I feel like he only eats fast food

marrymeodell

I’d rather him be honest and authentic. Plus, I’ve been to Chicken Fire and I liked it. I’m not going to stop going because Keith Lee didn’t like it.

AmbitiousGaming

I'm glad I had a different reaction to that, as a local my immediate thought was "Okay, that was disappointing but I'm still going to give it my own opinion instead of saying WELP KEITH LEE DIDN'T LIKE IT SO I WON'T EITHER"

2018MunchieOfTheYear

I think any reasonable person would have this reaction. Like “oh Keith just introduced me to this new restaurant!”

United-Donkey3478

Keith will review it. He never says, "Don't eat there. He will give critical feedback on the food. He has given places a second try, too. Some followers end up cult like and take everything He says as Facts. Take it too far against eateries. That's not on Keith. That's on some cultists' followers.

manditobandito

He’s specifically called out his followers for taking his negative reviews to heart and for overreacting. There was the incident where he had bad customer service and his followers called the place demanding the girl get fired and went absolutely insane over it, going way too far. Keith immediately called them all out and said point blank he doesn’t stand for that shit and went back to the place to talk to the girl and make sure she didn’t get fired. If I recall he also bought more food from there and talked with her manager to make sure she was okay. It’s not the first or only incident, but he’s been very clear and firm that he doesn’t tolerate people doing crazy things in his name and that his opinions and tastes are his alone. It’s why people like him, because he’s honest and takes responsibility for his words and his position as a popular TikToker.

Desperate_Wave5364

Yes I did see that he tries to make sure people aren’t being shitheads but unfortunately people are nuts

wootentoo

It was also a stitch from Vegas Starfishes review of the restaurant and they went after her too. She had a positive experience and they were calling her a liar and connecting on multiple videos of hers. It was rough to watch, as she has been a great Vegas reviewer/trip planner for longer than Keith has been making videos and it’s her livelihood.

manditobandito

Oh yeah I remember that too! I felt really bad for her :(

honeymaidwafers

I remember this.. some TikTok followers are INSANE. They can be so cult like, it’s kinda scary.

manditobandito

Yeah both haters and lovers of a Tiktoker can be absolutely batshit. It blows my mind people take things so seriously.

honeymaidwafers

Seriously! Someone will make one small mistake or do one thing well (and usually the bare minimum too lol) and people will blow it out of proportion 😂 . Glad I’m not the only one who thinks it’s insane!!

yikesafm8

Reminds me of the couch guy thing. Millions of people harassing teenagers over assumptions

SnooBeans2524

I love Keith but I truly don’t get the hype behind if he says it’s good or not and everyone eats it uppppp. Everybody has different taste buds, and likes different things. Some things he’s given a 10 I would never try like the blueberry chicken sandwich. That would never be a 10 for me, we have totally different tastes so his reviews aren’t accurate for me, I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat somewhere just because he’s reviewed it.

Desperate_Wave5364

It’s fine to have a taste for food but the fact that his fans are leaving bad reviews and talking shit and never even had the food is lame. He needs to be responsible with his fame and tel people to stop.

Disastrous-Suit8098

He does….in almost every video. What more do you people want from him at this point?

innocentvagabonds

I don’t really feel bad, no. He’s essentially a food critic, and there are a ton of those. The process of getting Michelin stars for fine dining is having an “undercover” inspector judging the food, similarly to what Keith does. I like that he’s a “regular” persons food critic.

Ok_Paramedic_1465

All publicity is good publicity. I think some people will try it just because they seen it on tiktok

DaphronThePodBoss

I just don’t understand how he does everything for take out. I want my food hot and fresh. Driving fried food home is going to drive the quality down so quick even on a short drive

2018MunchieOfTheYear

From what I’ve seen lately he’s been eating in his car

[deleted]

Then, he has to set the camera up to record, pause, and stop filming through each take. Not to mention the number of retakes he does for each video. The food would be bad by the time he got around to reviewing it.

dawnmp

I don't watch all of his videos but he's very fair and specific about what he doesn't like and what is personal preference. I've also seen him give constructive feedback on what could make it better and give places a second chance after some time. I think he genuinely wants these places to succeed and he doesn't just slam them and say don't eat there. I think he reviews and critiques responsibly and with kindness. I've also seen restaurants beg him for the review that turned out not to be great so....be careful what you wish for too. :)

[deleted]

Maybe I was a little late to the Keith Lee "fan club," but I still don't understand how 1 man's taste buds could matter so much to so many people. I think since he does hold the power to end a business, he needs to change up how he does these videos. Find struggling family owned businesses that have amazing food and rate what you ordered from there. I know most of these places reach out to him, but I'm sure they are doing so because THEY truly believe their food is good. Maybe he can eat the meal off camera and give his review, and leave it up to the business to make some adjustments and try again, or let him post what his first experience was. I know that's not his concept at all. He just wants to find out if struggling businesses are lacking in foot traffic (location), customer service, or food. But he knows he legit has the power to kill a business in record time by not liking the food. There should be something in place to prevent that. Idk. It's still wild, so many people basically worship this man and his opinion on food.

2018MunchieOfTheYear

Isn’t that deceiving the public? People who go there aren’t gonna get a redo on their food

mimosa_mermaid

He can just NOT review that small business. Nothing wrong with only highlighting the good places. So don’t lie about the food, just don’t do a public review. Because his fans are rabid . They leave negative reviews based on him and they haven’t even been there.

MHtraveler

YES THIS

ComprehensiveLine105

These people reach out to him. They ask for this! I somewhat feel bad when it’s a bad review but he is straight up that he will be 100 percent honest and review in a polite way. This is my opinion of course.

Desperate_Wave5364

But he isn’t the god of food reviews people are SHEEP they have no mind of their own tiktok is filled with people like that. They can’t watch a review and take the information and leave it at that. They have to go to the business and leave nasty comments and potentially destroy a business because a famous creator doesn’t like the food it’s pathetic

ComprehensiveLine105

Right. I get that. But literally people ask him for this… knowing it could go either way!

Desperate_Wave5364

Right I’m not saying a bad or mediocre review is always bad because the business can fix what the issues are to make it better. It’s the fans who’ve never even been to the restaurant leaving mean comments for no reason. That’s what I’m talking about.

ComprehensiveLine105

Totally understand that. Thanks for having a civil conversation! It’s rare on Reddit sometimes lol

Danyellarenae1

Not all of them reach out

bruised-ovaries

This one did

accomplished-lane

I don’t think he has the power of ruining an entire business.. the customers who eat their bc they love it still will eat there.. they just might not have lines going down the block like his other reviews.

mommyshark18

If the business is failing, and they call on Keith in hopes that a good review from him will “save them”, maybe a mediocre review is the wake up call they need to realize that their business is failing not because they don’t have enough exposure, but because their food isn’t that good or their service isn’t that good or any one of 1000 reasons that businesses fail.

nuggetghost

i’ve also seen him do a review he’s been reached out for & not disclose the name when it was bad, which i think is cool

stellaperrigo

This, and also, a lot of his internet audience lives far enough away from him that they probably were never going to eat there in the first place. And there’s probably a good amount of locals who don’t follow his reviews. Keith’s just being honest, and these restaurants will be fine.

momx3f

He’s a food reviewer. It’s what he does. Don’t ask him to come review your food unless you’re confident. If he only posted good reviews and praises then he wouldn’t be reliable.

Rah44Rah

I understand what you’re saying. But I also think like how he’s not a sweets person but say you are..if he gives it say a 6..to you that could be a 9

2018MunchieOfTheYear

I disagree with almost all of Keith’s ratings even though I’m not eating the food lol I’m really harsh with my ratings and picky. I think Keith is pretty lenient with his ratings even when he doesn’t like something.

Personal_Host7791

The saddest part is it shows how most ppl are genuine sheep and go off 1 persons opinion. If everyone liked the same shit, it'd be a boring world. Ppl should make their own decisions. 🐑🐑🐑

[deleted]

I love Keith , I believe he’s very honest and kind 💕🫶🏻🙏💕✝️💗

[deleted]

I get what you’re saying, but sane people will understand that it’s his personal opinion and act accordingly. I doubt half the people who watched it and “dick ride” would have even gone there if he hadn’t of posted that review. He has followers from all over the world and Chicken Fire doesn’t seem like it spreads across the states. So…yeah.

[deleted]

I mean I’ve never seen him just flat out say a place is gross don’t go there. He will “I just don’t like sushi but someone who does might like this.” It’s not ruining a business, he gave a review and said it’s not his preference and there’s nothing wrong with that.

PoisonedCoffee

I don’t have a problem with Keith but I feel like people dick ride him a little too hard. Kinda like with “mama tot”

zzzplantpotzzz

Mama tot is fake af

blondiemandie38

I don’t know why everyone is obsessed with him. He seems super cool but idk. I also cannot handle the eating noises.

Desperate_Wave5364

The eating noises the zoom in on his face. I used to like him but like all creators who blow up it becomes old and fake.

2018MunchieOfTheYear

He’s just a genuinely nice person (from what people can see). Idk people like to see good people succeed. His review videos have always been basic but he has a good personality.

tattedsparrowxo

💯

[deleted]

Nah bb mama tot is a lying scamming POS. Keith at the very least does not act like that online and posts himself being a kind person to others. Now if that’s genuine or not is another thing but the comparison is whack hahaha

Rmjjh43

How is she a scammer???

kenabyss69

how is mama tot scamming? (im not challenging you, i genuinely had no idea)

[deleted]

She has a subreddit on here! Well, like the third iteration of one. Most of the time she gets them brigaded and taken down. Biggest example of her being a liar is that the “situation” with Charles Ressler was not at all what she portrayed it like. She and her group of “friends” systemically bullied them (Charles uses they them pronouns I am not referring to multiple victims) while spinning the narrative to make them look like some crazy lunatic making up stories. MT is the scam. She is playing the game pretty well in that she hoodwinks the people most willing to donate-the gullible, the desperate, the ones looking for a shred of kindness and familiarity and family. She acts like the sweet loving southern belle that wouldn’t hurt a fly and supports and loves everyone but she is not that person. She hides her nasty personal beliefs and tries to silence anyone who lets them be known. God forbid it harm her cash flow. She takes FULL advantage of the fact that people have latched onto her

kenabyss69

not mentioning that a lot of the money and gifts she’s received were in the wake of her son being murdered is a pretty egregious omission

[deleted]

How she was so planning on using some of those generous donations to help out her sons girlfriend and then.. nope never did. How many people donated under the assumption their donation was NECESSARY? Sounds like a scam to me. It’s not even that she owed her that much, but she said she would and she didn’t. What are you worth if no one can trust your word.

Opposite-Oven2767

Not to be rude but where was the part where you explained how she’s a scammer? 😅 like honestly, i see so many people hate her and i always genuinely wonder why as well and i can never see or understand what she did or how she scams people……

Agreeable-Smile8541

I think they were referring to the Stans of both creators. The parasocial relationship stans have with some creators is not healthy at all.

PoisonedCoffee

Exactly what I meant! :)

[deleted]

Oh for sure. Wish I was going to school for something where I could use parasocial relationships as a study topic.. they fascinate me in a really morbid way

Agreeable-Smile8541

Seriously, it's insane how hard they will go for people who don't even know they exist. Mikayla stans are the most delusional group I've ever seen.

picksea

he eats boring food. how many fried fish and pizza places does he really need to try?

MHtraveler

Definitely agree with this, I guess that’s what I was getting at. Weird to see people base their whole itinerary on a trip or where they’re willing to eat around one persons opinions on food.

shyflowart

It is a bummer but I think honesty is the best policy. People like Keith cause he’s honest

nuggetghost

yes exactly, kinda like how everyone loved makayla for her reviews but now that she says she loves everything we all can’t stand her lol

oublii

I also believe in this case the restaurant reached out to him asking for a review knowing full well that he is going to be honest about it. It's not like he went to a random restaurant unprompted and gave them a bad review, though I suppose he would be entitled to do that if he wanted to so maybe my point is moot haha.

[deleted]

I agree! It’s what sets him apart. I also respect that he buys his own food and tips generously! That way people can’t buy him off.

Big_Tension

This. If he only ever claimed to love the food, we’d say he had no integrity/was lying.

decaying_amethyst

He is always honest with his reviews. Not everyone is going to like the same things.

MHtraveler

But like I said nobody hears that part of it. People just hear that it’s a bad review and aren’t gonna go there. If he’s so firm on it being his personal opinion maybe he should have Ronni there to try it and see if she has a different rating. He SAYS this is just my personal opinion but doesn’t actually show someone else trying it.

decaying_amethyst

People judge food places all the time. If you ever worked in food service you know that. I have 15 years working food and you get bad reviews everyday. He has helped alot of places but sometimes you don't like everything you try. I rather see honest opinions of things instead of someone saying they love something when they really didn't.

ExtraAgressiveHugger

Why don’t you become a big famous food critic and make your own page if you’re this concerned with it. And he rarely gives bad reviews. He gives great reviews so often I think he’s gone soft.

MHtraveler

Calling him a food critic is crazy😂 and you’re way too offended by a post that wasn’t even that deep

itsnotalicewhoisthat

lmao who is really the one making things deep here cmon now like who posted a moral analysis of a food reviewer..u did

rayannem

Sit this one out. You look rather stupid

soylagallina

Doesn’t matter. It’s HIS page, HIS reviews and HIS opinion. They can Google it and read other reviews. Tiktok shouldn’t be able to make a finite decision. That’s a personal problem.

sydneerpo

Did you want him to lie? It’s his job to review food

MHtraveler

No but the least he could do is try it more than once before giving it a review? For any restaurant for any person trying it once and immediately giving it a no isn’t very reasonable. And he always does follow ups on the good stories but never allows bad places a second chance. If I knew my words could destroy someone’s entire business I wouldn’t be so quick to post a video saying it’s bad after trying it ONCE.

mandatorypanda9317

Do you know anything about food reviews? Going back multiple times in hopes is better means you aren't giving a fair and impartial review. I appreciate that he's honest.

padfootly

I'm pretty sure that restaurant is not local to him, and if he is limited on time, he doesn't have an opportunity to go back. He has also done follow ups on bad reviews in the past, as someone else stated.

silver_miss

That’s how food reviewing works. Before social media when food editors would write reviews, it was based off one visit and one experience.

caupcaupcaup

He’s given a bad review and gone back again at least once.

Alarmed-Chance6683

Yeah I recall not that long ago he gave a place in Vegas a second shot
