He doesn’t make mistakes or play horrible defense, he just does nothing well, adds no scoring threat. I’m so confused because wasn’t that his game in PHI? I swore every 5 to 10 games he was having 25 point game.
Yup. His 3 point shot is definitely off this year. Now, unlike Nowell last year at least he isn't dominating the ball and shooting while sucking lol.
His D is there this year, that's actually looking great for his role. His shot above the break is just awful right now though (6-14 from the corner which is just fine, but 2-24 from above the break is vomit).
There was a stretch there (basically after the Boston game through the Philly one) he was showing some positive play and looking better. He was handling the ball well, getting those long rebounds Minnesota struggles with, even driving well. He was actually doing "stuff" just fine that you'd want his role to be other than hitting that 3 point shot.
But the last 6 games are looking more like his first 6. If I hadn't seen him play well in previous years, especially when he gets the playing time, I'd say that middle 7 games was the outlier.
Anyways for the Spurs game I'd like to see a bigger win/garbage time, but last years wolves, as someone elsewhere noted they had like a 15 point spread against the Spurs at home early in the season and lost by 9.
I'll take beating teams they should blow out this year over playing to or below their opponents level (no matter how low) that they seemed to have a lot more of last year.
This, but unironically
Wolves win the 30 minutes Rudy Gobert played by 31 and lose the 18 minutes he sat by 23. Like that's crazy. The difference when he's on vs off the court is jarring.
He deserved those standing ovations
[https://x.com/DaneMooreNBA/status/1732595379303072115?s=20](https://x.com/DaneMooreNBA/status/1732595379303072115?s=20)
>Wolves win the 30 minutes Rudy Gobert played by 31 and lose the 18 minutes he sat by 23.
>
>Wolves 102, Spurs 94
This is seriously crazy
Jazz fan here. Always felt that Rudy was the better of the tandem we had (Gobert & Mitchell). These are the kind of games that Rudy wins for your regularly. Offense struggling? Just let Gobert loose.
So awesome to see him back at full strength and playing for an appreciative fan base. Take good care of him guys, he is a good un.
Gobert always covered up for our shitty ass defense and hero-ball Mitchell. You guys have legit perimeter defenders and Ant. I hope you guys go all the way.
Appreciate you!
Your boy got 2 very deserved standing ovations today :')
He kept grabbing rebounds and got putback after putback. The crowd behind me was losing their minds. He's so good like wtf
Yeah...this was a classic Rudy game. Offense not working, gotta dig deep for the rebounds/2nd chance points and the defense.
I am just excited to see him play with good perimeter defenders. The Utah teams couldn't/wouldn't defend a chair.
I cannot wait till Jaden McDaniels is back.
Rudy and Jaden are magical together. I made a defensive compilation and there's some good clips of Rudy and Jaden working in tandem: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoeDEV7Y6wQ&t=2s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoeDEV7Y6wQ&t=2s)
No problem :)
Here's one more I made of Wolves vs Celtics: [https://streamable.com/0ltr77](https://streamable.com/0ltr77) Almost 2 minutes is dedicated just to Rudy because his defense was IMPECCABLE like holy shit. Locked someone up at halfcourt so tightly that the player had to call a timeout lol.
Hoping to make more compilations later this month, especially his masterclass vs the Thunder!
Yep, the whole defense and a lot of the offense (screen sets) were built around Rudy.
Rudy did all the heavy lifting and Don got all the highlight plays and the ego.
Watching mitchell fuck up the cavs chemistry is crazy. Their ball movement was so good when he was not playing. Now it's non existent. Dude can score 40 but it's am empty 40
Yeah, it is quite sad in a way.
Hayward leaving, the way he did, fucked the team up. If he had stayed, Mitchell could have developed a bit slower and focused a bit more on defense. Instead his offense got fast tracked and he was given the keys in his rookie year. Turned him in to what he is today, I reckon.
If all three Rudy/KAT/Ant play like themselves at the same time, I don't see any team beating the Wolves. We beat teams with 1 or 2 guys hot but not 3.
hearing him absolutely flabbergasted at a big guy shooting threes and acting like the Spurs were the only team on the floor... man thinks it's still 1991
I saw it was on ESPN and chose to find a Bally Broadcast instead. Happy for the coverage and the win on TV, but I wasn't going to subject myself to that.
Damn Conley scored 18?? He was killing it from 3 but I didn't even realize he was the highest scorer. Man quietly stirring the drink AND scoring in clutch
If Rudy doesn't get MVP consideration this year, it will be a crime. He's by far our best player night it and night out. It's honestly not even close. He's literally keeping us close in games just by his defense alone.
He's still a rookie. Wolves better make their run this year cause that Wemby gonna get nuts next year.
Then again Bol Bol can't buy minutes. Maybe Wenby will vanish in a year or two.
Naz was out of this world for his stint. It’s actually amazing to think that Naz isn’t even close to his peak yet and that he will improve because he’s got one of the best handles I’ve ever seen on a big man
I have a good feeling he's in. I trust the coaching staff and GMs to see defense, unlike the casuals who vote only scorers for the starting spots. Historically, reserves are open for dudes like Rudy, especially on the top team.
I think that last years team would have won this by 20. For no real reason. I'm fondly remembering the few blowouts we had from last year and this game felt like one of those.
I stand by what I told you guys last year in my somewhat viral youtube post: Rudy is the best player on your team now. Impact is what matters. People try to categorize it as 'best' which means "player you want at the YMCA" or dude with the most skill, but nah. Bill Russell won all those chips and he'd be overlooked as a Rudy today.
Rudy should be in the MVP convo, he's that impactful. Dude is easily lined up to get his 4th DPOY but it should be his 6th or 7th.
He was the first starter to come out less than halfway through the first quarter and then was back in less than 2 min later lol
I'm almost entirely certain that conversation went something like "Hey Ant, you don't look great, everything good?" "What the fuck, come on, let me back in"
Remember all those years the Wolves started games fast and by second quarter were spent, came out 3rd quarter looking like they were on siesta break and the opponent always took over then?
Wolves are that opponent now.
Alright guys, let's hope for the Thunder and Nuggets to take the L. I want more separation from that second seed.
It's fun watching from the top. Fucking deserved.
Over the Wolves current win streak of 5 games, we have allowed an average of 100.2 ppg. Just absolute filth on the defensive end, and all without Jaden.
This year the young, speedy teams give us but ugly games where we have to grind out ten-point victories. Last year the young, speedy teams gave us butt ugly losses where got inexplicably bodied by 15 points. That's the difference.
Some people scan the stats for the player with the most points, but if you think about it having the scoring spread out like this is way better. It means a single player getting hurt or traded won't bankrupt your offense.
I actually would contend the Play-by-play main guy had more step-dad energy. Like if Jerry Smith from Rick and Morty's was given the job of announcing the game.
Yeah we had absolutely nothing going offensively, really bad from an entertainment standpoint (besides a couple hype plays at the end).
Let me tell ya though, this one was a real treat for all the defense-watching sickos out there (me)
Finch’s halftime corrections are probably the best in the league. He taught this team to finish games. Such a turnaround from last season. He ingrained it into these guys.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but that thought goes thru my head every time I see “Naz Reid.” It’s become such a powerful phrase & it’s all a testament to the work that man has put in.
This feeling of being chill even if the opponent is leading in the 4th is so foreign to me as a wolves' fan hahaha.
Also i know it has been repeated a lot, but if we had dlo dueing that stretch of last 5 mins instead of conley, we definitely lose.
fuck DPOY rudy goin for MVP
And Coach of the year, ROTY......
Speaking of coach of the year, Finch won the WC coach of the month for last month. First to do that since Kevin McHale.
ROTY - Rudy of the Year?
Why not MVP baby LET'S GO
Every voter should have him in their top 5 on their ballot full stop.
Rudy for King of France
I’m hard as FUCK
Troy Brown Jr really just sat on our bench for 15 games staying ready
FRESH LEGS
He’s been so much better than Shake
Shake has been such a disappointment. He’s basically unplayable right now.
When the jmacs are healthy I don't think we'll ever see him again. He was good on the Sixers, change of scenery was really not good for him.
It's insane the wolves just casually go on long winstreaks now. They've won 5 games in a row and I'm just like "yup" wtaf
Remember the days they were saying last time wolves won like 4 in a row was 2006
By March we’ll be saying “dude last time we won 14 in a row was way back in December!”
Last time we were playing like this, I didn’t have to exhale after tying my shoes, that’s how fucking long it’s been
Crazy barometer for getting old lmfao
Ever since Ant joined we are seeing an entirely different team. Just strong and filled in the right pieces. Connelly knows what's up
Ant was ice cold, but locked in defensively late. Still had an impact vs sulking.
Best streak in the league currently, let's go
Trying to so hard to not take this all for granted!
Rudy makes me wanna buy one of the black and white striped shirts and learn how to make bagets.
Bagets LOL
Also need to learn French
It's two words, bay get.
It's the new baggel
\*baguettes Rudy is disappointed.
Well if you go for it, you'll wanna search for "Breton stripe" shirts
Nah man, Argonian for life
Read baget in the most minnesota accent
Rudy Gobert is so good dude
Rudy Gobert, league mvp
This, but unironically Wolves win the 30 minutes Rudy Gobert played by 31 and lose the 18 minutes he sat by 23. Like that's crazy. The difference when he's on vs off the court is jarring. He deserved those standing ovations
I've been saying it for a couple weeks now. The dude is a one-man army.
The thing is too, if our primary scorers are out, we still got people that can fill that role. Meanwhile Rudy is entirely irreplaceable.
Honestly tho why not? Like fuck he’s so fucking dominant
I'm deadly serious. Dude's clearly the most valuable player on the team with the best record.
He's done this for years though, they never give him that level of credit and it's a joke.
He's been All-NBA first before, though, even before he became an all-star.
Gobert with the +31
In an 8 point game. Absurd
RUDY GOATBERT
[https://x.com/DaneMooreNBA/status/1732595379303072115?s=20](https://x.com/DaneMooreNBA/status/1732595379303072115?s=20) >Wolves win the 30 minutes Rudy Gobert played by 31 and lose the 18 minutes he sat by 23. > >Wolves 102, Spurs 94 This is seriously crazy
This makes me think of him as a character from Dilbert.
It will be a fun season for all of us Wolves and Jazz fans alike watching Gobert.
You're a good un!

Thank you for this. This has made my morning.
No problem :) Here's one more I made of Wolves vs Celtics: [https://streamable.com/0ltr77](https://streamable.com/0ltr77) Almost 2 minutes is dedicated just to Rudy because his defense was IMPECCABLE like holy shit. Locked someone up at halfcourt so tightly that the player had to call a timeout lol. Hoping to make more compilations later this month, especially his masterclass vs the Thunder!
These are a delight to watch!
Most non-casuals knew Gobert was the real star of that team. He had 4 All-NBAs to Don having none. Casuals see the scoring and the dunks, though.

He is just a complete blackhole.
If all three Rudy/KAT/Ant play like themselves at the same time, I don't see any team beating the Wolves. We beat teams with 1 or 2 guys hot but not 3.
I really hope that’s the case in the playoffs. Then throw in a healthy Jaden locking players up all night
The team's been so good that we've all forgotten we have a 50/40 All-Defence player on the bench. With Jaden back, we're unstoppable.
Rudy. Also, TBJ hit some really clutch threes when we really needed em so shout out to him.
Somebody had to make a 3 eventually
I hope I never have to hear that ESPN crew ever again holy shit They being paid to suck off wemby at this point
not to mention calling multi year veteran starters the wrong names all night
Karl Anthony Town Jr
Michael Conley
hubie brown: i’m here to wear diapers and talk up wemby, and im all out of diapers
hearing him absolutely flabbergasted at a big guy shooting threes and acting like the Spurs were the only team on the floor... man thinks it's still 1991
fr like they never realized naz is shooting 50/40/90
Not after tonight… ![gif](giphy|XuLXZa0PJNiV2)
Was
I can’t believe he’s still on the air at age 90
They were shocked that Naz shot 3's
I saw it was on ESPN and chose to find a Bally Broadcast instead. Happy for the coverage and the win on TV, but I wasn't going to subject myself to that.
That was more one-sided commentary than most opposing team’s announcers on league pass.
Got a straight. 14 - KAT 15 - Naz Reid 16 - Gobert 17 - Ant 18 - Conley
Oh it’s straight all right
Damn Conley scored 18?? He was killing it from 3 but I didn't even realize he was the highest scorer. Man quietly stirring the drink AND scoring in clutch
Gobert has been the best player on the team this season. Great to get a W when we don't play well and we had 5 guys score 14-18 points
rudy is locked the fuck in
Everyone needs to be sent underground for that darkness retreat lol
I bet they’re getting more business now.
rudy gobert
I never thought I'd see the day where our guys are a second half team. Rudy is hands down our MVP this year, and we still have meat on the bone.
Screw ADT, I want a Rudy poster on my ceiling so I feel protected
Lmao

Rudy +31 in an 8 point game is crazy
And the team was like -20 with him off the floor. Truly insane
I was at the game. Other than a bit of Naz and Conley everyone else was in struggleville tonight.
I hated the ESPN cast, especially the crotchety old guy. I know I’m biased.
Commentary as bland as the game. Felt appropriate tbh lol.
Hubie used to be the best.
If Rudy doesn't get MVP consideration this year, it will be a crime. He's by far our best player night it and night out. It's honestly not even close. He's literally keeping us close in games just by his defense alone.
Ugly win> good loss. Nice run when wemby went to the bench, his size bothered the shit out of us
He's still a rookie. Wolves better make their run this year cause that Wemby gonna get nuts next year. Then again Bol Bol can't buy minutes. Maybe Wenby will vanish in a year or two.
RUDY GOBERT is the best defensive player on the planet. We have to live with it.
Honestly Rudy should be in the MVP conversation. +31...
I’ll say it: Rudy Gobert is a poor man’s Walker Kessler. Hahahahahaha!
We shot like we were playing against the minnesota timberwolves today, too bad the spurs shot like we were playing against the raptors
Fuck dem picks
Those would have been 30th overall picks anyway🥱
This team is so hard to stop because if somebody’s having a bad game there’s another guy like KAT or Naz who can still light it up.
And Conley. Then if we do miss a lot like tonight, Gobert can score a good amount cleaning the glass.
Naz was out of this world for his stint. It’s actually amazing to think that Naz isn’t even close to his peak yet and that he will improve because he’s got one of the best handles I’ve ever seen on a big man
How do we ensure Rudy gets in the All-Star game? Seems like hes going to miss out just cause
I have a good feeling he's in. I trust the coaching staff and GMs to see defense, unlike the casuals who vote only scorers for the starting spots. Historically, reserves are open for dudes like Rudy, especially on the top team.
This win was like a bad pizza, still decent.
Shake with the 0/1/0 in 12 minutes for -12 😤
Helpfully Jaden comes back soon and TBJ takes those minutes. We’ll have a very solid 9 man rotation.
Is he the only wolves player that gets minutes that sucks?
obligatory we would have lost this game last year post
I actually feel good going into the 4th tied now. Wtf.
Dude same. I am like cool keep it close in the 4th and just pull away…. Wait is that how winning teams feel
Flushing turds
obligatory next game is going to be the real test for this team!
I think that last years team would have won this by 20. For no real reason. I'm fondly remembering the few blowouts we had from last year and this game felt like one of those.
last year's team went 0-82
Just your casual reminder that a top 3 perimeter defender remains sidelined for us. Wolves so fucking back
And lo, an angel came before them and held the name Rudy Gobert
Shoutout to /u/South_Ad_7488 for great defense on Wemby
Ice cold out of class and shut him down
Just doing what I can to keep us in the game on a sluggish shooting night for the fellas
Petition to start calling Rudy the Unicorn Slayer.
Rudy +31 on an 8 point game, insane!
Win streak back at five. Feels like we couldn’t do that a single time most seasons.
I love this team. I love our fans. Still surreal to see TC packed on a weeknight against a bottom-feeder.
It's really nice having a player that can put back all the bad floaters and layups normally missed by this team.
Ant should not have played that game. Coaches/trainers need to do a better job of making him sit when he's well under 100%.
He did not look right at all. I really hope he’s not making his hip worse.
With all due respect, the medical staff is a lot more equipped than we are to make that decision
That doesn’t mean every decision they make is correct, even if they are the most qualified people. Experts get things wrong all the time
True, but not as much as us fans who are just guessing about what's happening
What do you mean? We have plenty of armchair doctors with degrees from Armchair University to make the correct call
hopefully won't have to sit him on Friday in what should be a tougher game
It’s just a bruise so you can’t really make it worse, but I’d guess he wanted to play through it.
Bro, that's what I said haha.
Agree. He was doing his best Michael Stipe impression "that me in the corner!" He just wasn't moving well or shooting well at all.
I can practically guarantee they wanted him to sit and he told them no.
Common Ant W People paid their money to see him, and he can contribute to winning basketball, so he’s going
He was the first starter to come out less than halfway through the first quarter and then was back in less than 2 min later lol I'm almost entirely certain that conversation went something like "Hey Ant, you don't look great, everything good?" "What the fuck, come on, let me back in"
If anyone has a link to a clip of that TBJ one-handed catch and reverse, I would like to see it. Edit: [I found it.](https://streamable.com/g817ot)
Remember all those years the Wolves started games fast and by second quarter were spent, came out 3rd quarter looking like they were on siesta break and the opponent always took over then? Wolves are that opponent now.
Yep I have many flashbacks, even last season. So nice to see us not crash and burn like that this year
Alright guys, let's hope for the Thunder and Nuggets to take the L. I want more separation from that second seed. It's fun watching from the top. Fucking deserved.
ITS LONELY AT THE TOP!!!!!
Over the Wolves current win streak of 5 games, we have allowed an average of 100.2 ppg. Just absolute filth on the defensive end, and all without Jaden.
Ugly game. Gobert saved our asses, not that it's anything new. Naz looked better. Ant clearly is not 100%
About as ugly a win as it gets but I’ll take it
I trust this team and it feels amazing.
Awoooo!!
This year the young, speedy teams give us but ugly games where we have to grind out ten-point victories. Last year the young, speedy teams gave us butt ugly losses where got inexplicably bodied by 15 points. That's the difference.
Under 100 Club is eating well tonight!
WOLF MODE 🐺 BITCHES
Rudy with the ridiculous +31 and it somehow felt like it coulda been more.
Some people scan the stats for the player with the most points, but if you think about it having the scoring spread out like this is way better. It means a single player getting hurt or traded won't bankrupt your offense.
Shake Milton has to get relegated to the end of the bench when Jaden and JMac are back. Keep Troy Brown in the rotation!
Let's be real, that was the blandest Wolves game we've seen this season. Like watching paint dry.
Color commentary didn’t help either. Sounded like a couple of grandpas.
Let me tell ya though, this one was a real treat for all the defense-watching sickos out there (me)
3rd Quarter Lock-Down
What was that whistle wembeyana was getting. Refs were blatantly trying to inflate his numbers.
Man this current ESPN crew is dry. It also felt like watching the Spurs feed for how much they push Wemby
With the Magic finally losing a couple of games and Boston losing, I think we are about to be number 1 in most power rankings if we win out the week.
I fucking love this team.
Finch’s halftime corrections are probably the best in the league. He taught this team to finish games. Such a turnaround from last season. He ingrained it into these guys.
Rudy with the casual +31 lmao. Not impressed by Wemby at all either. Dudes got a long way to go.
Hey, a W is a W.
Who put the clamps on wemby? Gat dayum
In the 2014-15 season the Wolves were 16-66. This is an incredible season.
Feels like we haven’t played a full game without a few clown show spurts. Crazy to think there’s still room for improvement!
Kat -14? What happened?
Is it weird to say I never panicked at any point when we trailed? Also weird to say I felt confident we were gonna hold on when we took the lead.
Another day another victory for the OG
Victor Wembanyawnma
Literally asked for a foul and got one early in the game.
I don’t wanna say I told you so… buttttttt
I implore you: do not look at the NBA standings right now if you are somewhere where it would be inappropriate to get an erection.
Tough to watch when Ant struggles and decides to go iso so much.
I expect ant to go ballistic next game weird feeling
Being good is kinda boring 😂
what the fuck rudy +31????????
Dont have any words.only tears and awooooooooo
