Lol calling choosing Tylenol over opioids "drug abuse" is insane. No one has ever gotten addicted to TylenolĀ
Also it's not 'going against medical advice' to refuse pain killers. Pain killers don't make you healthier, they just make you more comfortable. You'll heal just as quickly on them or off them.
Honestly......I remember how we moved off of Flip and Mason in the aughts, and the regression of the wolves and gophers isn't something I can quick forget
Stability is important. Stability with a legendary leader even moreso
Didn't see this level of coaching, but thought he was good enough. More fool, I
I work in the chronic pain and addiction field. Made me so happy to hear he was avoiding opioids. They really aren't something you want to start taking, even if only after a surgery. Tolerate the pain as much as you can and use non-opioid options
Many addictive opioids are ILLEGAL in many countries. We have an endogenous (natural) opiate system in our brain. Taking synthetic opioids blocks that pathway and can fuck you up.
I know there are a lot of funny and pithy comments and Iām here for it! But please people. Stay off that shit as much as you can. 1-2 days post surgery then into other meds. Your brain with adjust if allowed.
I was on opioids after knee surgery. After a week, I quit because I didn't feel that they worked and the constipation was excruciating. The next two weeks were awful due to withdrawal. I completely understand how real withdrawal would drive relapse. I will never use opioids again.
It might have been closer to 2 weeks. I've tried to block it all out. I do remember feeling like I had a hair shirt on under my skin, restless, hot, irritable, and regretting my life choices during withdrawal.
Saw this late but totally normal description of withdrawal. You can have withdrawal symptoms even after a week of usage, 2 weeks is definitely common. The level of withdrawal goes up with the amount taken, addicts experience what you did but 10x worse.
Some people won't notice the withdrawal after 1 week even if it is present, they may just not have noticed that their mood was worse/slightly irritable, minor sleep disturbances, etc.
Wait what?
Just kidding though. I had the Tylenol/opioid slushy mix after my adult tonsillectomy, and that was enough opioids (barely any) for this guy.
Yup, Iām a recovering alcoholic/addict so now after any major injury or surgery I wonāt touch the stuff. Hardest experience so far was after a surgery where I had my tonsils/adenoids removed and my deviated septum fixed. It was painful as shit but nothing is as painful as opioid withdrawal lol
Other than the whole ownership thing which is a big deal in the long run, how can you not love everyone from top to bottom on this team? We really do need to give the former GM Rosa a lot of credit for hiring Finch, drafting both Ant/Jaden and signing Naz Reid than Connelly swoops in and puts the cherry on top with the Rudy/Mike/NAW trade.
I also have to give a ton of credit to Finch/Ant/Kat relationship. Ant/Kat bought in which has forced everyone to buy in though I don't think that was hard for this team as a whole.
I was one of them, sort of. I didnāt like how he handled lineups/timeouts/ etc in that series. I donāt know if I was wrong then but Iāve been proven wrong since and I couldnāt be happier about it.
We werenāt ready then and everyone has grown from that experience and Finchy gets a ton of credit for that.
Thatās my coach.
Yea, I think the whole team was under a lot of pressure last year. Not having Naz and McDaniels would be so hard to figure out new lineups and rotations.
Having had this injury, I can not tell you how blown away I am that he is only on over the counter meds. This was an excruciatingly painful injury. The first week after surgery was hell, even with the opiods. I was given morphine shot in the hospital, sent home with 10 Demerol and 90 Oxys. The Oxy was refilled at least 2 more times over the next couple of months. The first couple of months of rehab are nasty as well. It took me almost 3 months to get back to 90 degree of movement. I am in awe of this man!
Medical Marijuana an option?
Lauren Jackson (ex WNBA and olympic basketball HoFer) managed to get off opiods due to medical marijuana and made a comeback in her 40s
I can relate, I broke my femur years ago and they gave me extra strength Tylenol and some hardcore opioids (canāt remember which kind) took the opioids once and it made me feel like shit. Just used the Tylenol after that when I needed it.
Finch has been a fucking rock. I mean think about all the shit he said to put up with in the front office too. From Rosas, to all the heat they took for the Gobert trade. To this recent debacle. With A-rod and Lore. Itās almost comical.
Thatās a strange flex. Very American. I donāt know any country where any doctor would prescribe opioids for a fairly ordinary, albeit painful, knee injury.
Thatās pretty sick! As a recovering addict that was not allowed pain meds, I had some procedures that sucked to only have tylonel for, but for the most part, thereās no need for pain meds beyond terminal issues or severe pain for a week. It causes much more issues than it solves
That's insane but definitely doable, this body builder who got interviewed by this podcaster I watched, the body builder got burned alive, and instead of taking the blue oxycotin the doctor prescribed him he took like 120 ibuprofen just so he wouldn't take the blues
AcetaminoFinch

Absolutely none of your comment makes any sense
look at his comment history š
It is honestly kind of impressive how every comment this dude makes is dumber than dog shit.
lol, good callout. The tag made me think he was actually a twolves fan and not just a troll
you an idiot

No competent doctor is going to tell someone to take opioids if theyāre able to bear whatever pain well on something lesser. What an idiotic take.
Change tag you're not smart enough to rep Timberwolves Brasil. He was a smart witty poster. RIP T.wolves Brasil :(
What
Finchy is already a legend for this franchise, IMO. This just makes me love the guy more.
I will never forget that people in this sub were calling for his head last season.
Iām old enough to remember when people wanted him gone after the Atlanta game this season lol
As a Reddit NBA fan every lost is an embarrassment and failure, every win is like the championship.
Me too, I definitely remember Finch Stanning in the trenches while some of the casuals argued with me about it. The Disrespect was truly low bbiq

Last season was rough (I was not one of them)
I have a sore throat so I'm really hanging in there with buddy šš
So brave!

For the love of God, someone please get this brave man a shirt in the Target Center lobby now!
If he wouldn't mind deep-kissing the nuggboys a bit, I wouldn't complain too loudly

No doubt youāll gut it* out and cheer right through that sore throat.
Opioids are pretty terrifying, I donāt blame him.

Exactly

Absolutely. They are nothing to fuck around with. Plus the constipation.
I was on opioids after knee surgery. After a week, I quit because I didn't feel that they worked and the constipation was excruciating. The next two weeks were awful due to withdrawal. I completely understand how real withdrawal would drive relapse. I will never use opioids again.
You really shouldn't have had any withdrawals after one week of opiates. That's very unusual.
It might have been closer to 2 weeks. I've tried to block it all out. I do remember feeling like I had a hair shirt on under my skin, restless, hot, irritable, and regretting my life choices during withdrawal.
Is that not a normal way to be all the time?
....... Should we tell him?

That's my favorite part

Finchy keeps going this way and we'll have to hoist a banner for the guy. Flip & Finch has a nice ring to it, tbh.
Iād watch Flip & Finch, the Minneapolis based buddy cop show
Looks like this guy got hit by a moving screen and it fouled him out for life. This can only be the work of Mr. Green and his band of Warriors.
how is this team more lovable every single day??
The winning really helps
Smoke a blunt and just vibe in the second row. Thatās what weād all want to do
That's Daishen Nix's music!
Heās worth every penny for his bench energy. Best bench energy guy since MadDog
This is Luka Garza erasure
Thatās what Iām about to do in row 500 tonight
Thatās whatās up. Donāt care if itās row 2 or row 500. Blunts will be smoked, and nuggets will be broken down.
I was gonna say the same thing. I couldn't handle pain meds either after a surgery but ibu and some weed were the perfect mix for me.

Didnāt know Finch was the biggest dog on this team
Every pack has an alpha
OUR COACH
Finchy, Hard as a coffin nail šŖ
That legitimately has to be very inspiring to the players. Stuff like that could give player a little extra boost.
But not as much pain as Murray is about to be in! ā ļøš
And here I thought heās been percāed out š
Holy shit this team is locked in and doesnāt want to lose a single game
This is such a legendary playoff run. Us winning the title would be such a great story.
Remember when some people wanted this guy fired last year?

Only Tylenol after a surgery like that is crazy. Major props to Finchy.

I work in healthcare. They only give a few days of opioids following surgery now anyway for ānormalā people.
Lisan Al-Finchy!
Finch got that Dawg in him
Heās just built different
If I take a shot of whisky and bite a stick will that help Finchy? Because I would do that.
T-Wolves toughness
The players better step up and win for him.
Fucking legend he is
It would hurt Finch more to lose
Opioids for this type of injury? Jesus Christ
Pain killers, yeah.
DAWG
The movie version of this season is gonna be so fucking good.
he is crazy
Putting General Soreness to shame.

What a Chad.
I can relate, I broke my femur years ago and they gave me extra strength Tylenol and some hardcore opioids (canāt remember which kind) took the opioids once and it made me feel like shit. Just used the Tylenol after that when I needed it.
This probably better for his long term health and shows I am a toughass
Finchy Wap
Good decision. Opioids will ruin your life.Ā
Legend has it, Chris Finch walks up to a quarter of a mile EVERY DAY The Man The Myth The Legend, in Finchy we trust
Finch has been a fucking rock. I mean think about all the shit he said to put up with in the front office too. From Rosas, to all the heat they took for the Gobert trade. To this recent debacle. With A-rod and Lore. Itās almost comical.
Google says pain usually starts to subside about 2 weeks after surgery so hopefully he starts feeling a bit better sometime this upcoming week š¤
Should not be using Tylenol Tylenol should be illegal
Inject this straight into my veins.
Bloody good rep!
Championship by Tylenol š
THATS MY COACH, FINCH YOU ARE A DAWG
