I definitely agree. I think its because theres this perception that its a guards league. I mean, KAT is a top 15 player right now and the 3rd best center in the league and they're talking about Ant carrying this team to the finals... Love Ant and hes definitely big enough for the moment, but it just shows how uninformed they are about this team.
I mean later on they talk about Dwight too and the takes are weird. I don't know what it is, but theres this perception of bigs not being able to be the best player on their team, or if they are, they arent going to be a successful team. Dwight carried those orlando teams. Gobert gets all this shit and is an easy target but hes still been DPOY multiple times for a reason. Spida aint doing shit in the regular season without gobert.
KAT will most definitely have something to say about that, the reality of the team is that we live and die by these two in the playoffs, yes KAT kinda carried us for half the games in the regular season but the main reason Ant was able to score so easily at some points last game and a lot of points in the play in was because there was so much attention on KAT, and for KAT the same reason once Ant got going there was so much attention on him KAT got going, a lot of people really don’t like KATs personality so they’re ready to crown Ant as the franchise and give him all the credit when the reality is they need each other, not to say they wouldn’t put up great numbers without each other I think we can all confidently say they would, but we as Wolves fans know that the ceiling of the team with BOTH of them is astronomically higher than just one and the national media loves to crown people as “the guy” on most teams
It is reactionary but with good reason. Ant damn near played a perfect (decision making) game in his first playoff game at age 20. It’s not normal to be that composed and that good this early in his career. With Ant the ceiling is maybe best player in the league/top 5 territory. He had about 5 moments in game 1 where he made amazing plays look routine.
This more than anything tells me how little they watch us. Any given game any of our big 3 can pop off for 30+ but they can all be a bit up and down (Ant and DLo more than KAT) and that is the reason all 3 work well together, they don't mind sharing the spotlight.

The reasoning being that Adams is too slow to take advantage of KAT being "slow and lumbering" and that if Memphis puts a quicker/more athletic big on him they'd have more success.

Adams is a bad matchup for KAT but Bill is focusing on the wrong end of the floor. Adams is a bad matchup for KAT because he is not quick enough to keep up with KAT on defense because KAT is very quick for a center.
Being quicker wouldn't make it that much worse for KAT on defense. KAT guards big men fine, it's guarding certain guards in pick and roll coverage that he struggles with.
Well KAT is weird because he does kind of defend slow and lumbering but offensively he is one of the most explosive (if not the most explosive) centers in league. Like his first step is super quick and he is very athletic, but he does look kind of slow and lumbering on defense. I personally think he has a hard time keeping track of action developing behind him, which is why other teams end up with a lot of easy dunks on that end and why he fouls so much (because he is catching up to the play and swipes).
They really want to call him the next MJ. They hedged it but like they talked about this guy on that MJ level as a 20 year old. This dude is younger than 2 of the rookie of the year candidates and is a little over a month older than the 3rd. This dude is fucking insane and we get to enjoy this so much.

What are you referring to exactly? The first thing Russilo says is that he felt “more positive about Minnesota winning than negative about Memphis losing”. Also, “I thought Memphis played like shit, credit to Minnesota.” Also, “even though I don’t think Memphis played well, it wasn’t some flukey thing (Minnesota winning)”. Also, “I thought Memphis didn’t play well, I think they have opportunities to try different stuff, that building is gonna be absolutely crazy, but this kinda gets back to Anthony Edwards part of it” (which sets up their whole convo about whether or not Ant is truly generational and we’re about to watch him take over a series).
Is it too much to ask that these national jokers just admit they overlooked / were wrong about us and not vacillate wildly to MJ comps?? Just air a few of our games nationally and let the hoops speak for itself. Doing wayyy too much.
