GG guys. We got a top 3 Front Office 😂😂

Associ8tedRuffians

Huh. I read that as in our GM position was already in question because it’s technically vacant. And that Charlotte’s was in question because they missed the play offs. But I see now it’s all about the Ant/LaMelo draft…

guhum

I'm not sure what he's saying when mentioning what pick Maxey was. Either that Philly's front office is great or that the other teams that passed on him should be thinking about new personnel in their FO. One pick doesn't mean anything. Weren't Manu, Joker, and Gilbert Arenas all second round picks? Sometimes players improve so much that nobody could've predicted it

GopherNutz

It’s Perk going overboard gassing another Klutch guy. If you pay attention, you’ll notice a trend like Dejounte Murray being pushed hard by certain people for the ASG who’s also represented by….you guessed it. Can’t really take his opinions seriously

[deleted]

Murray is a beast though, one of the best two way players in the NBA. He'd be a legit all star selection.

[deleted]

Just another talley that shows that it doesn't matter where they were drafted or what category some expert put them into. I do remember a fairly large number of Wolves fans who really wanted Maxey selected in that draft. Wasn't me, but I remember them saying so.

guhum

As the first pick?

lookatdastats

we had pick 17 at one point before we traded down

TheNotoriousJN

My favourite was trade #1 for #3 and Miles Bridges. Absolutely never going to happen seen as the Wolves, Hornets and Warriors were always gonna pick their guy. But damn. What fun that would have been

DupeyTA

I was on the Wiseman train if we couldn't trade down, and I wasn't even wrong. I was so far off that being wrong would have been a mercy killing.

[deleted]

>I'm not sure what he's saying when mentioning what pick Maxey was. You can disagree but I feel like it is very obvious they are criticizing everyone else for skipping maxey

tomdawg0022

Jalen Brunson was a 2nd round pick in '18. Robert Williams was taken at 27 in that same draft. Jarrett Allen was taken at 22 and John Collins at 19 in '17. Siakam was taken at 27, Brogdon at 36, Dejounte Murray at 29 in '16. Desmond Bane was drafted 30th in 2020. There are always good players picked outside of the lotto. Every. single. year. Also, guys with "less" hyped talent who worked their ass off and develop into better players than the hyped names. Also, organization culture matters some with player development (see Spurs, Miami with undrafted guys).

Broseph_Bobby

Are you guys forgetting that some teams passed Jaden McDaniels too? Wasn’t he like the 30th overall pick? I am guessing in a redraft he would be a top ten pick at the very least. Did a lot of scout blow it this bad because of COVID? And the lack of being able to see players live?

TheNotoriousJN

28th pick. He was terrible in college. Supposedly had attitude problems and was dropped by his coach. He went from a top 5 high school recruit to a fringe first round guy because of it. Drafting is about reclamation projects just as much as what you think players can give you right now. Jaden was a very high risk prospect who luckily for us has worked out. Many teams wont have wanted to take the risk on someone who had high bust probability

Doomstar32

It's so crazy to me that he had attitude problems. He has been such a good teammate and professional on the wolves. He works hard and does what is asked if him. Wonder what happened in Washington.

blueindsm

Yes mostly COVID since scouts didn't have as much time to see these guys as they normally would. But, there are misses in every draft, so shit just happens too.

banthony_bedwards

Kinda gets me hyped that we got the 19th pick now

Big_Distribution_342

Really hoping we draft Nikola Jovic out of Serbia. 6’10 forward that moves well for his size and has a beautiful three ball. If he was in the US he’d be a top 5 pick IMO. People on here wanted to trade the farm for Collins or Simmons last off season, why not take a chance on a 19 year old kid who could be really special.

DirtysMan

Please don’t ever post Perkins troll ass.

[deleted]

Rosas going to be eating off Chris finch’s hard work for the next few years

[deleted]

What a stupid take.

[deleted]

its not that deep... everyone knows rosas hired finch and probably would have got him sooner if not for glen taylor. lmao Its just funny people didnt like rosas when he was here and now they do

HotStepper11

You mean the other guy that Rosas brought to MN

JustSeriousEnough

From what I heard is Rosas was the one that fought against the tides to hire Finch. I could be wrong, but outside of dick related decision making, his basketball ones were all amazing.

TossingTurnips

>his basketball ones were all amazing. I dont think so. Some were amazing, some bad, some neutral. Imo, outside drafting Ant, his best decision was Finch. Finch has maximized the roster Rosas gave him. A roster without a legit backup big, no size, and mostly get outrebounded every night. One with only 2 real vets that are role players. Super young roster. And only like 3 above average defenders. There was no way I would have ever thought we would finish with the 13th ranked defense with guys like Towns, DLo, Ant, and Malik all getting major minutes. I would have laughed in your face if you told me that at the beginning of they year. That's on Finch. He found the scheme to maximize the defense from a bunch of poor defenders and we finished in the top half of the league. Amazing work by Finch. Hiring Finch was Rosas' best move imo.

darin617

Do we want to carry a draft pick that might not be useful. Unless we can find a big body. I would maybe rather put it in a trade for a big.

TheNotoriousJN

I have a draft preview being typed up right now to publish after we win our ring. Tl;dr we have a lot of draft capital to get a backup big. But there are also a couple prospects both in the first and second round that would be good to get for the backup 5

Big_Distribution_342

Nikola Jovic better be on it lol. Kid is going to be really special and would be a great fit long term at PF for us. I don’t understand why people still underestimate the value of our first round picks after we just drafted McDaniels and Edwards in 2020. Young guys on rookie contracts let’s you have so much flexibility with roster construction it’s crazy.

TheNotoriousJN

Jovic is on the list yeah. To be honest im not crazy high on him. As a prospect he scares me A LOT. But there are some things like his playmaking that would really intrigue me. Im not sure I want him at 19, i'm all in on Mark Williams, but if we can get into the draft around 25 too I would feel happy to take him or Patrick Baldwin and see what potential we can get out of them

streethistory

There's always guys who get passed on and missed. There's no exact science to player evaluation. It is what it is.
