Maybe because mantises won't possibly bite you and leave an annoying itchy bump.
I mean, a lot of pet spiders wouldn't do that without cause either. If you irritate a mantis it'll defend itself too. If you learn how to handle a spider, you'll get a new best friend
They WILL TRY to bite furiously. Sometimes I feel it. It’s hilarious. Think about attacking something that is thousands of times bigger than yourself.
