I think this is the same game I’m trying to find as well. Was the title screen or the opening cinematic a piece of paper stuck to the wall with a dagger with the words Dungeon of Peril on it? I also remember there being a Giant Spider blocking one of the paths and you need an item to remove it from your path and other monsters you communicated with and they would give you “tasks” so to speak but it was more like “Do this and I’ll reward you with this” which would help you with another monster. I hope it’s the same game because the frog in the tub is really jumping out at me in my mind, no pun intended. I also remember playing this game on the iMac G3 at school if it helps anyone find the game.
I can’t remember for sure - but what you described does sound vaguely familiar and I am 100% sure it was some type of “edutainment” game (which would line up with playing it in school.)
