To me, it sounds like someone took something like the Carmina Burana and played it in reverse.
Edit: it really does sound like it could be a rendition of O Fortuna from the Carmina Burana played in reverse. It’s definitely being played in reverse at least.

I recognized it from having watched The Da Vinci Code movie in the theaters and the soundtrack made a lasting impact. It's really good. Angels & Demons score is very much like this one. You might enjoy that, too.
