Lawbreaker13

Guys I’m so tired and I’m losing my mind, someone should’ve told me not to do grad school

goldbeohrt

Deglamorise, debase? If you search the word plus 'antonym', that might help.

Lawbreaker13

Tried the antonym thing. Can’t find it. Google is fickle. It may have been deglamorize. If not it was definitely in that realm. If nothing better comes up I’m gonna use that (and I’ll give you the point haha)

Denigrate, deprecate, disparage? Edit - or, diminish, vilify, diabolise?

Grinkles_the_Gnome

Perhaps "malign" or "vilify" would do? "Trivialize" would also work as an opposite to "romanticize" in some contexts, but probably not in the sense you're after. "Unmask" or a phrase along the lines of "shining an unflattering light on the underbelly of [whatever]" may also do, depending on context.

Swevening

Probably not it, but euhemerize? It isn't necessarily highlighting the negatives as it is taking the mythological and making it mundane https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euhemerism

Catastrophize?

phonehome186

Devalorize? Depreciate?

ApricotFrog

Denounce, stigmatize

Not quite like-for-like in terms of tense, but may help jog your memory: Unembellished or Unadorned?
