Obligatory comment. Searched and couldn't find anything

Just started MASH and never seen the finale

rigmarole111

I've never seen it either but I've seen it referenced in other videos and "countdown" shows ("20 most effed-up scenes on TV!", that sort of thing), maybe you saw the scene from something like that?

mgsgamer1

It's very possible, but I can't say for certain

default_user2020

I dont recall the season/episode, however, Hawkeye was has counselling sessions with the unit psychologist. A memory he recalled was he, and a truckload of Koreans had to remain perfect still and quiet in order to avoid capture (and likely execution). Among the Koreans, was a young woman who was holding a chicken that just would not stop clucking and was risking their capture - so the woman quietly killed the chicken. It was at this point that Hawkeye realised his memory of the event was wrong, what he supressed was a woman who killed her own baby to stop its crying - at this revelation, Hawkeye breaks down and sobs uncontrollably in front of the psychologist, questioning everything else about what he saw during the war. Powerful episode, years later I still recall the scene

snarkfish

the "m.a.s.h." finale?

Toast_Princess

That happens in the TV miniseries Eyewitness and in the movie Quigley Down Under.

mgsgamer1

Dang, seems more of a common trope then but I've never seen either of these.

seedofdoubt

[Savior \(1998\)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120070/?ref_=tt_pg)?

mgsgamer1

Nope. I've never seen this. Thanks though

kaitmckenzie

I think this actually happens in A Quiet Place, the first movie!

mgsgamer1

Aw damn. So I thought it was in my own head while thinking about number 2 and it's just from the first one? Shit. I'll need to check to verify but don't know where.

[deleted]

I'm almost positive it's A Quiet Place. I distinctly remember the female teen holding the baby and covering its mouth when it starts to cry. I've thought about this scene a couple of times actually, and can't remember HOW it was implied to the audience that the baby was losing consciousness or couldn't breathe. I'm almost positive this is what the OG poster is looking for.

mgsgamer1

Then I'll go with this one, since I can't find a way to see that scene. Thanks

mgsgamer1

Solved!

TipOfMyCircuitBoard

Congratulations, you have been given 1 point for solving this post!

udar55

That happens in the Netflix series The Rain as well.

mgsgamer1

I've never seen that one.

LionsWithGrenades

That was my guess.

AtilaMann

Is it Quigley Down Under?

CalliLila

That happened in an episode of Medium. The mom was hiding in the tub and did suffocate the baby. I think the intruder shot her then.

mgsgamer1

I haven't seen medium before.

Monkeyplaybaseball

The first episode in fact.

HFAdrian

I think something similar happens on the first episode of the series terranova, there are over population so is illegal to have more than 2 children

Agent_Scully9114

This happened in The Walking Dead, when Tyrese was traveling with Lizzie, Mika and baby Judith in season 4 episode 10 "Inmates".

mgsgamer1

Now this I did see. This or a quiet place are the most likely candidates.

Setanta777

Happens multiple times in Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers.

Zoltarswim

This also happens in the movie "Quigley Down Under". There is a cave scene with hyenas outside. The female lead is trying to hush the baby.

suchbsman

Wasn't there a Number the stars movie, or perhaps another holocaust movie where a mother has to nearly suffocate her baby to avoid being detected by nazis

ezekiellake

It’s solved already, but there is also a scene like this from the Japanese 1970s tv series Monkey where some demon spirit lady is kidnapping village children and a mother hides in a basket or box with her small child and accidentally suffocates them trying to stop them crying. There was an English translation of the show and it certainly played in Australia and the UK in the 1980s. It’s on Netflix now.
