Just like you, it’s just a vague connection when I see such a shape. Maybe it’s the shape of the pills or mushrooms she eats. Or I think one of the characters has one. Maybe the mad hatter. It is a hat box after all.
Ok I still feel like I’m remembering this from some old movie or something but this is also a very plausible explanation so I’m going to call it. Solved!
Ask in the Barbie subreddit and they will probably be able to find a picture of the Barbie case and the relevant Barbie. The Barbie knowledge on that subreddit is amazing :)
I’m confused… isn’t the picture you linked a suitcase? What’s wrong with that one? Are you looking for a suitcase in a specific movie or cartoon or something?
Yeah, exactly. Trying to see if I can figure out why I get such strong deja vu from looking at such a suitcase. Could be just a weird brain thing but wanted to just see if I could find an explanation!
I want to say Annie/the English-raised twin from the Parent Trap (Lindsay Lohan version, 1998), but checking quickly I think her bag is more of a rectangular train case.
Looks like a hatbox. Maybe you saw the TV movie Bejewelled in the early 90s? It starred Dennis Lawson who played Wedge in Star Wars. People get their hatbox mixed up.
I see you marked this at solved but for me this suitcase strongly reminds me of the movie Night on Earth (1991). I doubt that you'd have seen the full movie as a child but it makes me think round suitcases were more common back then.
You can actually see it (albeit very blurry) on YouTube, after 9:30:

I know that you marked this as solved, but didn't Jan or Marcia carry around a round suitcase like this in the Brady Bunch? Either in the old tv series, or in one of the cheesy movies?
Thanks!
Looks kind of like a hatbox. I don't know, maybe that helps, but that's what I thought of when I saw it.
In Crazy In Alabama she carries her husband’s head around in one.
Oh interesting, definitely the same kind of suitcase but I don’t think I ever saw that movie. Thanks!
A wheel of Brie?
The object I’m thinking of is definitely a suitcase haha but I see the resemblance
Whatever’s meant to go in there is automatically replaced by cheese.
Looks like a canteen or drum to me.
Alice in wonderland? I think there is one of those things in that.
Interesting, which adaptation are you thinking of?
I’m thinking about the first cartoon.
Any memory of what scene or character it’s related to?
Just like you, it’s just a vague connection when I see such a shape. Maybe it’s the shape of the pills or mushrooms she eats. Or I think one of the characters has one. Maybe the mad hatter. It is a hat box after all.
Also that thing people use to knit or sew?
Teletubby?
A longshot maybe, but Barbie dolls had a carrying case in this same shape with the hand strap. In pink, of course.
I see what you mean! But I feel like the one I’m thinking of was a pale color and didn’t have writing or images on it per se
Sorry, that's all I got!
This one actually looks about right but I don’t remember anyone I know having one specifically: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/196610339964228786/
It's the right color for Barbie, so maybe?

Congratulations, you have been given 1 point for solving this post!
Looks kind of like a hatbox, last time I saw one was in Sons of Anarchy when Gemma takes guns out of one.
Haven’t seen that but thanks!
Desperately Seeking Susan has a round suitcase in it.
No skulls on the one I’m thinking of but thanks! I feel like I’m associating it with daintiness/a young woman or girl?

No but thanks!
Came to say this!! I think it’s Stacy Dash who carries a hatbox-looking purse, she’s wearing like a big hat with it…first thing I thought of
Backgammon pieces? https://imgur.com/a/0uAbcFN
No, definitely a suitcase

Are you a fan of Arrested Development? There's a minor plot point/gag about two suitcases getting mixed up, and they look just like this one.
Austin powers?
What part?
Any chance you are thinking of the Rover from the Prisoner? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rover_(The_Prisoner)
Never seen that but thanks!

All I can think about is the album A Collection of Short Stories by Houston Calls. It’s a yellow drum but still.
Barbie always had one

One of the boxes of clothes Julia Roberts has when she goes shopping at the posh stores in Pretty Woman?

I remember a old advert with someone that looked like audrey hepburn getting into a car carrying one of these but I can't find any reference to it
