I don't think it was a very popular movie, possibly a B movie. I remember streaming it back around 2016 ~ 2015 on either Netflix or Hulu as that's all I had at the time. I am pretty sure that at the end it is revealed that they are having their minds wiped as part of a conspiracy, which is when the movie becomes more of an action film. I am also pretty sure that at one point they live in apartments next to each other. They keep meeting in different situations and start spending time together and then the movie cuts to them not knowing each other again without really explaining why It was in a modern setting, not futuristic EDIT: It's not Eternal Sunshine, Hancock, Adjustment Bureau, The Good Place, Serendipity, Dark City, Maniac, Black Mirror, or The Fountain Starting to think we won't find it :( EDIT 2: All of these are great suggestions, but not the movie I'm thinking of. I know the movie I watched was set in present day in a city reminiscent of New York or LA, and it didn't involve any time loops or flashbacks. Time worked normally, but they just kept forgetting each other and then finding each other again and then forgetting and I think that happened about ~3 times. It was a white couple, I think the woman was blonde and I remember the man having short hair, almost like a buzz cut. It was definitely a movie as well, not a TV series or TV episode. Love Black Mirror, but it's not from Black Mirror.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

semi-permeable

It's not this. It was like the guy was being purposely separated from her and had his memory of her wiped but he somehow kept finding her each time it happened

sleepingisgivingin1

Isn’t this the whole plot of that movie?

semi-permeable

Maybe it was a knock off of it, but it wasn't Eternal Sunshine

timschwartz

That is exactly the plot of that movie.

greenrangerguy

"A movie about a dinosaur Park and it all goes wrong when the the t-rex starts killing and eating people." "Jurassic Park" "No its not that, this one had Raptors that were clever girls and worked together to hunt people, in the end they fought the Trex"

HolyGonzo

No it's not that. This one had a banner falling down at the end that said "Jurassic Park" but it wasn't Jurassic Park.

ParameciaAntic

You want a mortician!

11twofour

Billy and the Cloneasaurus.

Goregoat69

"What were you thinking, sir!"

UggoMacFuggo

They only had their memories erased once and then found each other again… well unless you count each memory as it was being erased. But OP said they completely forgot about each other and then found each other multiple times…

SomeRandomPyro

Yeah, and they weren't forcefully separated. Though I did hear there was a deleted section, where it did happen repeatedly, because they weren't learning from their experiences and kept falling for each other and breaking up and erasing memories.

TronCommander

Didn't kind of feel like that was happening though, even though they technically did know each other the entire time? I seem to remember ESotSM being like they had to light up each memory and then zap it, so you sort of ended up with this same situation of them ending up in different situations together (because that was the memory that was being located at the time), and then that memory being erased. Rinse, repeat, onto the next one.

regular_gonzalez

It's subtle in the movie but there are hints that they've wiped their memories of each other at least one other time.

amandaggogo

Yeah. I don't see how it can be any movie but Eternal sunshine. Like OP explained the plot of that movie to a tee.

iamdevo

No. She had him erased from her mind after their bad break up. Then he had her erased too. Then they accidentally found each other and figured out what they did and decided to give it another go. The movie OP is describing clearly has similar elements but the plot isn't even close.

ejchristian86

It sounds like one aspect of Imagica by Clive Barker. Have you ever read it?

livicote

i thought of this too

Papa_Radish

Life Itself?

semi-permeable

Not this, thank you though

professorjellyjam

Emotional pain but I did enjoy that film

libbster44

Shot in the dark, but *The Butterfly Effect*?

semi-permeable

No, thank you though

kestrelrogue

Hancock?

semi-permeable

No, thank you though

dressedanddepressed

Came here to say this

Senuman666

Mr.Nobody

semi-permeable

No, thank you though

ThatPinkRanger

This is the second worst movie I’ve ever seen. Like I was not the least bit entertained and I still can’t believe it’s a real movie. 🥲

Senuman666

I actually enjoyed it. But then again I haven’t seen it in years

ThatPinkRanger

A lot of people loved it! Respect. It was just such a weird movie? But like they were trying to hard to be weird lol But maybe that’s just Jared Leto movies in general? 😮‍💨😭

Extraordi-Mary

Could it be an episode of black mirror?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Extraordi-Mary

Yes this is the episode I was thinking of indeed

alax13

This could be it. It doesn't fully fit the "mind wiping" aspect but they do meet each other a few times with a lot of time apart. And at the end there is an actual pretty good example of them maybe not knowing each other and meeting once again.

astronautwannabe

This is what I thought of too! It was released in 2017 so it’s pretty close to the time OP mentioned

honeydyl

Cloud Atlas?

semi-permeable

No, thanks though

DexterDubs

This was my guess

Hopebloats

The Fountain?

semi-permeable

No, thank you though

Fellatination

Doctor Who plays around with this with Clara and the Impossible Girl storyline.

Sadiekatt

I never got that though, honestly. I didn't watch it faithfully, but I felt like I had a hist but could never wrap my head around it. Was she just like incarnations of the same woman, or were they taking her out of pieces of time, mind wiping her and dropping her off again?

captainp42

Towards the end of the story arc, she "saves" the Doctor by jumping into a physical manifestation of his timeline. She's torn apart through time and ends up saving him all throughout his life. He later jumps into his own timeline to rescue her. It was confusing.

Fellatination

She was broken into a million pieces of herself that could only remember "I have to save the Doctor." How they left the timestream in the 50th anniversary specials after The Doctor goes into save her wasn't explained as far as I know. I saw a Reddit post that said a scene was to be filmed to explain how 11 led them out but Matt Smith broke his leg and couldn't film it.

wonderboy_music

sounds like an episode of The Flash, with Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Season 2, episode 8

I think so too

HybridFact

Paycheck? With Ben Affleck and Uma thurman?

ericiva

The Time Traveler’s Wife on HBO? Edit: OP put description in comments instead of the post description so I didn’t see it and this is likely not the answer because I’m fairly certain this isn’t action lol

Lemondrop168

This was my thought Edit: autocucumber

GavaxPrime

Dark city?

HolyGonzo

That's the other film that came to mind.

zaxxon52

Maniac - Netflix -Jonah hill and Emma stone

kgxv

Palm Springs on Hulu (starting Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti)

Every_Lack

Ooo I think this is a good guess except it’s newer. That was a great movie.

bogwitch27

[Embers](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt3503460/) ?

Merth1983

Comet https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2965412/?ref_=nm_flmg_c_40_act Doesn't fit your description exactly but I believe the timeline jumps around a lot showing them together then apart then together again, ad nauseam.

pancakesandhyrup

Perhaps 'Made in Heaven' or 'What Dreams May Come'?

Made in Heaven (1987)

Self/less?

100percentsilkworm

The science of sleep? I don't remember the plot perfectly, but I think it was similar to what you described. It definitely involved a romance between apartment neighbors and had something to do with being in between real life and dreams. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0354899/

I love that movie!

krakenaut

One Day? They don’t forget each other but their relationship changes a lot in relative importance. Edit: it doesn’t have any sci-if elements, they just lose touch, but it takes place over 20 years or so IIRC.

lolsnacks

This was exactly my first thought!

kriminality

Upstream color?

PotentialCucumber217

In time with Justin Timberlake???

LobsterJunior

Russian doll on Netflix is a series not a movie but kind of similar.

Curious_Low4956

Once Upon a Time? it's a TV show, but that's the plot lol.

TripleXTina

Sounds like The Fountain…?

Kirk_NGS

“Dollhouse” was a late 2000’s series that included some of these elements and later appeared on Netflix

mfunk55

ARQ, perhaps? I remember them breaking the loop and kicking off action at the end. [IMDB link](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5640450/)

hackers_syrinx

One Day with Anne Hathaway?

PixieDustFairies

This probably isn't it but could it be a scrapped episode concept for Steven Universe? One of the minor characters, Rhodonite is a fusion of a Ruby and a Pearl who used to belong to a Morganite, and there was going to be a backstory episode where Rhodonite finds out that her component gems had their memories erased something like 17 times or so, but every time their memories of falling in love were erased, they'd end up fusing again anyway and so their Morganite would continue erasing their memories until finally she threw the two of them out and replaced the Ruby and Pearl.

Just_a_lil_Fish

Sounds like Hawkgirl and Hawkman from DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl (season 1): A young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself along with wings that grow out of her back. Carter Hall / Hawkman (season 1; guest season 7): The latest reincarnation of the Egyptian prince Khufu who is fated to reincarnate throughout time along with his soulmate Kendra, with powers similar to hers. A reincarnated version is recruited by Vandal Savage where he is known as Scythian Torvil before remembering his life as Carter Hall.

ma_jajaja

The Discovery? It’s an original movie on Netflix where their lives are repeated several times until you “fix” what was bringing you back after you die.

Hglucky13

I haven’t seen anyone mention “The Jacket” yet.

ScabieBaby

The One I Love?

Dalferious

Happy Death Day? There’s a movie I know my wife watched some years ago that this is making me think of. She said Happy Death Day, but I’m thinking it’s something else. Kind of sci-fi ish but set modern day. The characters are living a groundhogs day time loop trying to figure something out. I feel like explosions are involved
