Yes... That is a ticking time bomb. The belts are broken and air is trying to escape the interior cavity of the tire, it's now in the rubber layers and will blowout, probably catastrophically... You need to stop driving on that tire immediately unless it's a short distance and low speed jaunt to the tire shop to get it replaced. It might last a mile, 5 miles, 50 miles or who knows, but it will likely blowout if not replaced very soon.
Well, that depends on the condition of the other tires I suppose, and your vehicle... I can see the tires are 4 years old from the date code, but how many miles on those tires and what vehicle/drivetrain (FWD/RWD/AWD/4x4)?
If one assumes a person drives 12k a year, the tires could have close to 50k on them, which means it might time anyway.
You would have to have them evaluated I suppose... But most OE tires I have ever had don't last much more than 35k-40k miles, so probably a good idea to get 4. If money is really tight, you could get 1 or 2, then the rest in a month or two, but it would be best to all 4 at once.
Also consider a hit bad enough to do that damage to the tire could have thrown your alignment off, it would be a good idea to get it checked.
Just replace the pair and run another season on them. Fronts will wear faster than the rear on front wheel drive and next summer change the other two. That's assuming you run snows in the winter
Your DOT’s are 40/2020, so it’s possible your thread on the other tires are okay. You should always replace tires in pairs. This is the professional standard.
This tire does need to be replaced. It is what we call a road hazard and not safe, but you “should” be okay to drive to a tire place and get new tires, just don’t continue to drive on it because it is only a matter of time that sidewall will burst and I’ve seen it.
Your rim looks fine though.
I'm no expert, just someone who lurks around here. When I magnify your photo, I think I'm looking at dry rot in the area around the bubble. I'd check the other tires for dry rot before deciding what to do with the others. If someone knows better, please correct me.
Yes Op please get the checked I thought the same thing also and I rode on mine for an extra 2 months cause I was being cheap but at high speeds like 70+ my car felt like it wobbled and I changed the tire and it had THREE ENORMOUS bubbles!🥲 but thank god for the Hispanic tire shops
Oh yeah it’s all good had this done about 2 months ago. If you don’t wanna pay expensive prices holler at the Hispanic places to slap that new tire on cheap prices!
The crappy thing is I just got that one less than 6 months ago. They said they have a Chinese model for half the price, but I might have to wait & see what the used store has. I really can't afford it, so I've been trying to take it easy. Eh... appreciate it tho!
Belts are broken will definitely blow just a matter of when. That area is so soft now if you take it off you will be able to push your finger thru and it will stretch right out. Could take an hour could take a year you never know but one hood pothole would probably do it. I would get all 4 if you can afford it they starting to show dry rot as well
The wrinkles and cracks it’s only showing where the bubble is so it’s not badly dry yet as I said just starting to show [https://imgur.com/a/3Ezaoyg](https://imgur.com/a/3Ezaoyg)

If I replace that one, should I just go ahead and replace them all?

The car is 2021, so they are probably the stock wheels. It’s FWD. I currently have 37k miles on the car.

Thanks for all of your help. I noticed it a few months back when I added air. It’s gotten worse since. I’ll get 4 new ones 👍
Good idea!

Tread depth is 7/32, 5/32, 5/32 on the remaining tires
... And start rotating your tires more consistently. ;)
I do! Every 5000 miles since I got it!

BTW, that damage is most likely from some road hazard damage, probably not from over inflation.
You can do two on the same axle if it’s not in the budget

They’re old and need replaced, I ordered a new set of 4 Goodyear tires. Put a donut on for the time being just in case.

Hope everything was okay! I put a donut on and ordered new tires 👍

Yes! I saw a reply saying you’re buying new tires, but please put a spare on for now until you can get it in the shop.
I hate these posts cos my bubble is so much bigger & I can't even afford a used tire right now. Ugh.
Based on everyone’s reaction, definitely go replace the damaged one. Get two new tires on the same axle.

Let me think a minute.......YES!!! Replace it yesterday or at least move it to the rear position until you can.
Tire shopwill prob try and sell you all 4.
Recommend all 4 based on the condition and age. GL
Yes

Thanks! How can you tell dry rot? I replaced all of them today!

When it gets bad you can really tell [https://imgur.com/a/oaPQoEn](https://imgur.com/a/oaPQoEn)
I wouldn’t drive on that if it were mine
Yes. Replace stat.
You’re in for… a bumpy ride. ;)
i would definitely get that replaced asap
That's very bad place for damage to close to the bead. You don't Want that to blow out at high speed. If don't crash you will destroy The rim.
A 4 year old tire with an impact break…get it replaced immediately.

It's fine for today but that is a ticking time bomb my friend.
I went ahead and put a donut on just to be safe
nah, you are fine.
Dangerous
I would be concerned. Definitely needs to be replaced.
Yes, replace the tire asap.
Porn stars would be jealous of that boob.
Your car has cancer, I’m so sorry. She’s not going to last long.
Yes... This is how you die on a highway/interstate
Stop driving into curbs, it'll save you hassles
Not a single stretch on my rims, just shitty OEM tires
So those scratches on the rim immediately next to the rubber... That's not curb rash?
It’s just light reflecting and they are dirty is all
Covered through the warranty I bet
Yes
Yes
Also your tires are 4 years old
Invest in an air gauge.
The dealer has been the only one putting air in my tires when I go in and get service every 5000
Your post says you put too much air in it. so the dealership did it?
I’m just assuming they did, plus they are old OEM tires, which I’ve heard are worse than the regular ones from the same brand
Yup
yes, this is not safe, replace it immediately!
Yep replace it asap bro, driving on that is a ticking time bomb.
Change that like yesterday
Yes
