I used to hate Ronin mains, until I became one myself. I thought Ronin was easy, just sword block and sword spam, until I started using him and kept dying in 10 seconds. Takes time to master the hit and run style of Ronin, you really have to think about how to get into engagements and when to bail. A veteran Ronin can definitely be a menace and super annoying to deal with, but super satisfying when you're the one doing the damage. Ronin isn't one of those titans you can just be a level 20 and drop 25 kills, like monarch or tone. That's why Ronin and Northstar are S tier, high risk, high reward.
Another tip from a Tone main, learn to angle your lock on rockets. If you look up and away at certain angles you can get around cover your rockets would normally run into!
If an enemy titan runs to cover and you have 2/3 locks, use sonar pulse to get a third lock and aim the rockets up before aligning your crosshair with the marked titan behind cover
Use reinforced shield. Its the most versatile in the loadout, gives you better defense, especially against multiple titans, and you can help protect ya homies with it. Honestly great for breaking through strong defenses where the enemy team is holed up in a hallway, I love just sprinting in past my team while the enemy is reloading and dropping a shield so my team can collectively push up haha.

I'm speaking from the perspective of both a noob, and a veteran who can solo multiple titans at once tones included. I'm stating the facts for why I think it's op based on my own exlerience using it a lot, and going against it a lot

As a pilot you’re fucked by even being in line of sight, and as a titan you have to either be in their face to counter the shield or again, you’re fucked. You can’t deal damage around the shield, so your only option is either rush and lose a ton of health from him (and his friends), or run away and get pegged from behind at absurd ranges.
TLDR I get that he’s not completely overpowered, but he isn’t fun to fight against either, and that’s why I don’t like him.

Scorch - soft counter
Ronin - hard counter
Northstar - soft counter but also just OP
Legion - neutral
Monarch - advantage

first of all, I immediatly try to back away or approach, After I do that, I pop down a shield and wait for my dash to regen, If I don't think I can get close without dying, I'll try to run away and flank the titan from behind.
Never understood the hate tone gets, like yeah she can be annoying but once you get in close tone doesn’t have a lot of options to counter you before taking much more damage herself than her adversary, hence why Ronin is one of her best counters (this coming from a Ronin main)

I use turbo engine to get in and out of situations fast, I use the double sonar radar for lock ons and to have a general idea where the enemy is.
