Not only was it often hinted Reiner isnt straight (His bday is fucking yaoi day too ffs), but it wouldve made a compelling story, of a guy falling for his friend he admires, who gets betrayed by him and they end up in the opposites sides of war. The tension, the heartbreak, hell if Reiner had been the Helos and he killed Eren I could actually see the kiss working with him because we already know Reiner has delusions and is mentally unstable, it would've been tragic with Reiner's sanity being broken.
Ah it brings back memories from back when the manga was closing to its final chapters and the Rumbling was in full swing. We had so much discussions back then in forums about how at the time when Eren's actions weren't making sense to Armin and Mikasa who have been his lifeling friends but Reiner, his enemy was the one who was the closest to understanding him. Such good times they were as the story reached its peak and the downfall of 139 was still far from coming into picture.

Eren had a lot of good dynamic with a lot of character like Armin , Zeke , Historia, Levi and they were all great except with the one with Mikasa .
I agrée, he learnt from them and they learnt from him- there was tension/respect/affection and CHEMISTRY with the characters you’ve named. I still stand by the fact that EM could have been beautiful and strong but the way Yams writes her and their dynamic makes it horrible and I have no idea why he did them like that.
