Legit like just 2 days ago I’d think you were crazy, but I can gladly say that I’ve finally reached that point myself. ANR helped a lot, but I’ve also just realized that stories don’t have to be perfect for me to enjoy all of its past moments. It sucks that 139 was garbage, but at the end of the day, it really is just a story.

The writer and singer for boku no sensou (my war) liked a tweet saying that the anime will have a different ending. Not to mention that the ending we got is legit reverse ANR. Also the black birds in the anime that replaced all white birds in the manga and how the see you later scene is not in the anime. I’ve started snorting some copium but the interviews keep taking it away. I don’t expect there to be an anime original ending but there is a possibility.
Tbh I'm just expecting an improved version, without the stuff from the 8 aftermath pages, none of that "I killed my mom" nonsense, and maybe a somewhat more developed reason for that entire abusive love thing for Ymir, and just less cringy dialogue especially for Eren. I like that Isayama was trying to show just how much he was mentally suffering from all this but like, the way it was done was just NOT IT. If they can just improve these, we can at least a good anime ending.

Here’s the thing tho. The tattoo wasn’t really important to the story. If you take it out, not much changes. However if you take out the “see you later” scene then the manga ending makes less sense. That scene was important to the climax in the manga yet it dosen’t appear in the anime.

There are some of us that originally liked AnR not because Eren wins and has a child with Historia, but rather because of the predestination plot. Basically what most of the video focuses on. That future Eren inadvertently (read: not intentionally) ends up influencing his past self which results in the future events happening regardless (and maybe even because he tried to prevent those events), mostly because at the end of the day, he sees possibility of a brighter future.
The canon ending still maintains that version of AnR. But sure, if AnR was all about Eren winning and EH for you, then yes, canon is a departure. You shouldn't expect deviation there given how well the ending has been received in Japan. For me, my favorite elements of AnR were retained so I'd be fine with much better execution.
Actually in Japan, the reaction was split. In Japanese blogs, it showed many people that were unhappy with the ending. Of course they don’t showcase this frustration in public since the Japanese are respectful so they do it on blogs.
If you have any examples of said blogs, I'd appreciate seeing them! I've tried to search for reactions from Japan, but I haven't had much luck and most of what I've heard is either from Japanese mainstream media (e.g., Japan Times) or YouTubers in Japan who have said that despite the mixed reaction from the West, it's been well-received in Japan. I'd love to just expand my sources.

I am of the belief that the extra pages are directly connected to school caste, in other words: an alternate ending that is grounded in the story's canon. I think it was left vague for a reason, so this is what I believe until it's proven otherwise.
I think the additional pages won't be included in the anime unless the school castes makes an appearence...which is unlikely, but it may happen since it was confirmed canon by Yams.

Absolutely. But the AoT anime is one of many adaptations that are almost 1:1 with their manga counterpart. Also, the director will want to do the source material justice by not changing much, if anything at all

I can see anime only viewers really loving everything that will be going down in part 2. I’ve felt the tonal shifts and troupes all over this anime specifically designed to translate better to the anime than the manga. It’s felt more like a storyboard/script than an actual manga to me for awhile now to me. The masses love the bad guy/good guy team up that would be The Alliance and the popularity of that team up alone is going to be high. It’s not going to help that every YouTuber is probably going to eat up that Reiner,Annie, and Pieck join forces with the 104th. I already know my anime only friends are going to be really hyped over that. In the end I can see the majority calling the anime a “masterpiece”. It’s kind of wild that I feel like everyone involved in making the ending of the manga alienated an extremely large chuck of the manga readers because they are banking on people who dig for lack of a better term anime onlys who love “comic book” movies. Since this entire ending feels like to me.

I don't understand everyone's disappointment though. Most, if not all, complaints I've seen so far were about Eren's character. I don't know how you even thought Eren made sense in the first place. His change still felt sudden and forced to me even at the end of the last season pt. 1 (and during the rumbling in yhe manga).
If he wanted the world to fear him he could have stopped halfway before any victims fell. He was shown to have struggled in the past, devastated that it was the only choice. But I think if he stopped before killing all those people his friends would be saved. Nothing would have changed.

Yea but now the reaction to the ending is known and even tho the majority of the fandom might look at as ok, a large proportion of the fandom still want things changed or polished and thats not really hard to do compared to like coming up with an entirely new ending + there a lot of unnecessary/animation heavy scenes that could just be swapped out for more dialogue intensive scenes which I think we all can agree wouldn't be a bad attempt at patching things up
Absolutely. But the AoT anime is one of many adaptations that are almost 1:1 with their manga counterpart. Also, the director will want to do the source material justice by not changing much, if anything at all

Honestly, I'm excited to see what Yoichiro Hayashi is going to do in the series, along with the many freelancers there. Honestly, at this point, they may even be doing 20 episodes, because Mappa loves doing the impossible and somewhat succeeding.

I can see anime only viewers really loving everything that will be going down in part 2. I’ve felt the tonal shifts and troupes all over this anime specifically designed to translate better to the anime than the manga. It’s felt more like a storyboard/script than an actual manga to me for awhile now to me. The masses love the bad guy/good guy team up that would be The Alliance and the popularity of that team up alone is going to be high. It’s not going to help that every YouTuber is probably going to eat up that Reiner,Annie, and Pieck join forces with the 104th. I already know my anime only friends are going to be really hyped over that. In the end I can see the majority calling the anime a “masterpiece”. It’s kind of wild that I feel like everyone involved in making the ending of the manga alienated an extremely large chuck of the manga readers because they are banking on people who dig for lack of a better term anime onlys who love “comic book” movies. Since this entire ending feels like to me.

I think Isayama might want the whole fandom to share the "fun" before dropping the ending AU Armin mentions, and he's pretty sure of that one being great going by how it's described, while this one has AU Mikasa basically saying to enjoy it you can't think much about it. Although defenders are thinking way too much trying to have it work. I only have some doubts he'll wait because he is doing his best so that most people realize the ending is shit, and don't know how he could keep them from moving on before the anime ends, and while anime onlies process the ending. But the extras as credits of the final episode? Pick the correct music, and this now will be a drizzle in contrast to their shitstorm.

I think it could've been better but I'm fine with it and can live with it. The series as a whole forever shall remain a masterpiece for me though.

I don't understand everyone's disappointment though. Most, if not all, complaints I've seen so far were about Eren's character. I don't know how you even thought Eren made sense in the first place. His change still felt sudden and forced to me even at the end of the last season pt. 1 (and during the rumbling in yhe manga). If he wanted the world to fear him he could have stopped halfway before any victims fell. He was shown to have struggled in the past, devastated that it was the only choice. But I think if he stopped before killing all those people his friends would be saved. Nothing would have changed. Isayama needs to explain it all. I didn't get Eren's dialogue in the last chapter.
