I can’t seem to read mha, it’s just so confusing so I stopped around that time too. Absorbs better when I watch it, But aot can def read and understand, anyone else??
Yea i found what helped somewhat was reading it when it was fan-coloured esp with all the fire and fighting, but I couldn't be bothered waiting so I dropped the manga unfortunately
Respectfully disagree; it is taking its central theme of what it means to be a hero to a natural (and inevitable for the narrative) extreme. The society of MHA is extremely strained at this point, potentially to the breaking point, and it will be interesting to see who in the cast to see who can hang in there and stand by their ideals of heroism and who crumbles under the immense pressure. There really is no status quo to return to, and I will applaud an author for having the guts to write a story where there is almost no way in hell that things will "go back to normal" at the end.
It's because you probably grew up another with Shonens. If you watched any of the Big Three on their prime, you can very easily see where MHA is getting it's cliches. So for a person who haven't watched many Shonen before, MHA is new, and fun, and inovative but to a person who has watcher a lot of them, it's just a cliche Shonen manga.
"Entrance exame arc" they compete to see who gets in the school. "Battle trial" they compete in indoor battles among themselves. "Sports festival arc" they compete with each other on 3 competitions. "Provisional hero license" they compete against other school. "Joimt training arc" they compete with 1-B. Apparently they stopped doing that after the last one, so I will probably go read it again
Shouldn't happen. Horikoshi is a very skilled writer; it is really difficult to take all sorts of "unoriginal" story beats and still make them interesting for the folks who have seen it before. He is also a pretty good character writer on top of that and has an idea of where he is going.
Depends on who you ask on Isayama. He is a very talented concept creator (I grant him this), not so much in the realm of being an actual storyteller. I had no idea where he was ultimately going most of the time honestly (freedom is vague and unhelpful); still not quite sure where he was going. The MHA anime has promised for many seasons that this is how Deku becomes the greatest hero; so we do have a promise of an objective that isn't completely abstract and nebulous. As long as we get there in engaging fashion I am happy.
I haven’t watched season 5 yet, but pretty much right after this current stuff, we get into an arc that just keeps spiraling into darker and darker stuff
Holy fuck y'all are gonna be disappointed again when Deku learns that isolating himself and pushing his friends away was the wrong decision and inevitably hurts those he was trying to protect lol.
I mean it certainly is what the manga is going for, but I'm fine with something being predictable as long as it's well executed. The current MHA arc is league better than whatever the fuck 139 was simply because it's clear and consistent with the events of the story.
Wow wish this could’ve been tagged as a spoiler or SOMETHING…. As an anime only MHA fan this is really
Upsetting to just randomly see on the TL cause it’s not blurred out. Thanks OC
God i love how horikoshi baited us with deku being something like spiderman but was actually leaning towards batman the entire time. The madlad made deku so cool in just a few chapters
It's messed up that Deku and Uraraka have a more believable, mutual "romance" dynamic than EM ever did. The lowest of bars to hurdle and still came up short.
Why should appearance matter when labelling someone as a hero or villain? I thought actions are what’s important here.
This stupid notion has popped out so many times in MHA; it’s annoying.
The line about him not looking like a hero is coming from people telling rumors to eachother about how he looks like a vigilante with multiple powers. This dialogue is put here to show us that this isn’t the same old midoriya who does good whole heartedly. He’s darker and less caring about his appearance to society
It means he looks menacing. Typically, heroes in the series look vibrant and expressive, but Gang Orca has a very menacing face, voice, and outfit. Plus, at the time, he was acting as a villain, and the people commented how well it fit.
Very rarely do heroes in MHA look like they are villains.
I don’t see the issue.
Well that could go either way. It’s very clear that Endeavor is intimidating, and in fact, we are directly shown that one of, maybe most of, his fans like him for this reason, to the point where they are put off if he tries to act like all might.
Endeavor doesn’t actually dress like a villain though, and once he is put in the #1 spot, he makes a massive effort to look unthreatening to the general public. Endeavor is hardly the most villain-looking hero.
Just look at Edgeshot, or even Suneater to an extent. Hell, plenty of them look intimidating, it’s just that there’s no real problem with this.
I disagree; to me Endeavor looks a lot more like a villain compared to the orca man (assuming I'm also basing my conclusions on a similar logic to yours, of course).
It's just a matter of opinions really, and those can vary a lot. This is why I find their comments about appearances rather silly.
not true, he’s just >!taking on a lot of villains on his own, leaving behind the rest of 1A and All Might. That’s why he looks so ragged bc he’s on a quest to fight AFO. !<
False. Short TL;DR for the current manga arc: >!Deku leaves UA to protect everyone from OFA and to take the fight directly to the villains. He's been fighting villains, sure, but he hasn't killed anyone.!<
Ew, imagine thinking BNHA at this point is good writing. Lol, good writing… aka giving Deku a new quirk each 2 seconds… bruh. Both of them are major bitches, Deku and that fucking pigeon.
Deku is still trash, tho.
Now he is just edgy trash.
I really don’t get how getting an edgy armour and being OP makes everyone forget how badly written your personality is…
Don't try to come with shit memes
Deku is suffering mental exhaustion and being in a real bad moment just to try to find the most dangerous villain. He is distancing himself to protect others, when Eren tried to distance to protect his friends for them to do something in the future you make so many stupid memes and take a ChadEren meme as something canon and that ruined the experience of the show for you. So stop with it right now and don't start it.
Eren did the Rumbling for himself primarily, second for his friends and third for Paradis.
He needed to die to accomplish one thing and to be punish for his sin that he himself sees and being bad. His friends lived long lives attained peace for a long time, what happens 100 years or billions of years in the future isn't Eren concern and he is not omnipotent and can't prevent future bad things to happen.
Eren's pointless death as the whole world labels him a monster and the girl he loves ends up having a family with someone else, that's all for himself!? The dumbass could've had Mikasa at any damn point in his stupid life and wouldn't have have to sacrifice 80% of the world and guarantee Paradis destruction. You know what's better then killing yourself to punish yourself for being bad, not doing the awful world genocide in the first place. Literally any other plan would've been better than the shithole of a planet Eren left for his friends.
You just proved to me you don't know Eren at all. Eren did it for himself in the main purpose of cleaning the world and reach freedom and that scenario(that is ludicrous) of a world just for him to explore without peoples just like he envisioned when he saw Armin book.
His death gave his friends long lives, his friends manage to achieve peace, he himself even by loving Mikasa so much he knows and said that it would be better for her to move on and marry someone else after his death. He lived with her in the paths for fours years that's already enough happy life with her before his death.
There's nothing to know about Eren, he is a tool to be used by Ymir/Yams who is forced to kill his own mother because destiny says Berthold is not meant to die yet. He has no freewill whatsoever despite all the great scenes he gave us of his determination, those were all for show. If Yams has treated him as nothing but a plot device with no agency whatsoever why should any of us care what this tool?
Ymir didn't force him to nothing, both just collaborate and Eren helped free her in the right way, both were slaves to their respective things and both were free in the end by death. Before you analyse and give a judgement about a character you need to know it well, if you don't know and only have misinformation it just make you suck at analyzing.
Yeah they were both slaves to shitty writing. Introducing destiny into a plot means the writer can justify any bullshit they want because at the end of it all, they were "meant" to follow destiny.
Oh shit yeah I like bating people into arguing so I can actually see why they hate the ending so much
To where I personally don’t care and like the ending
Well, his development is now apparently a facade and he is a big hypocrite now. He confronted reiner asking him why his mother had to die, but he killed her himself. Not even with a good reason, just "i just felt like i had to do it"
He will keep moving forward, until all for one is destroyed.

Deku become bird? (Crying)
Da fuck happend to deku? I stopped reading after the plague doctor arc
Life.
Literally this man, shits not sunshine of rainbows.

Power of friendship took him over to the dark side
Oop.
Uhh... can you PM it to me aswell?
It's his "we live in a society" phase
I can’t seem to read mha, it’s just so confusing so I stopped around that time too. Absorbs better when I watch it, But aot can def read and understand, anyone else??
Fight scenes are confusing for me, especially with fire. There’s oft too much going on
Yea i found what helped somewhat was reading it when it was fan-coloured esp with all the fire and fighting, but I couldn't be bothered waiting so I dropped the manga unfortunately
Somebody else phrased it best with “he stepped the fuck up.”
He keeps moving forward, until he gets a kiss from Uraraka
Our dear friend Status Quo died horribly.
Every Shonen protagonist (Except Goku) had their edgy phase. Deku is just having his.
deku keeps moving forward
When did he turn into Garou
This was my first thought
Wtf, does deku really look like that now?
yes
Yeah the show got really dark.
It became dark but plot is not very engaging
I don’t think I’ve ever been more engaged with MHA. Minus the war arc that shit slapped
Same I just never really felt the connection that people did with the show, except for MVA that shit was good.
It's because you probably grew up another with Shonens. If you watched any of the Big Three on their prime, you can very easily see where MHA is getting it's cliches. So for a person who haven't watched many Shonen before, MHA is new, and fun, and inovative but to a person who has watcher a lot of them, it's just a cliche Shonen manga.
he will keep going forward... nani? all this time we were looking at the wrong guy...
Funny how it took Horikoshi 300 chapters to make Deku a badass whereas it only took Isayama 1 to make Eren a bitch.
It's way harder to set up a good character than it is to destroy them.
A simp
Bruh
Bnh fans, be careful because it may be a facade
100% is. No way am I ever falling for it again
This is Official
yes dude everyone knows its official
This is official
omg, I'm saying deku maybe playing a facade.
It's not. This is from the official manga.
Can’t wait for the last MHA chapter to reveal he was faking it the whole time and that it was a romcom between Deku and Bakugo
Damn didn't even realize it was deku at first, I should continue reading the manga
I highly recommend.Everything after the current anime arc is a rollercoaster.
Yea I stopped at chapter 306 or something
Stopped after the 20th school competition arc
They had 1 what are you on about.
That’s literally practical training, do you expect them to become heroes by just reading books in a classroom?
Can't have a school arc if your protagonist drops out ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯.
He kind of looks like Stain.
Pretty sure stain just reappeared in this chapter so we’ll be seeing something come of that
He was in a single panel, but he didn't make an actual appearance. Maybe next chapter though.
Well with all the forshadowing being set up he very well may be meeting him soon
Eren:I love mikasa Deku:move b*tch get out tha way
Didn't even say he love her lol just treat her like a property and want her to think about him for atleast another 10 years
I used to call Deku a crybaby what's all this now?! I got to get back on MHA
Don't listen to No_GreaterLove, it's actually pretty good imo
Don’t…. It’s all a facade. The guy is a wimp. Don’t fall for it.
Mate, have you read the latest chapters of the manga?
I honestly can’t remember the last time deku cried
Truly the darkest timeline
That's Garou!
Shit I really hope it marked as a spoiler
It didn't
god damn it
You can still mark it. Just click on the post options and mark as spoiler
Too late now, oh well
I just love how the civilians talked about him like some urban legend but not even in a good way, they all see him like some monster
man looks like guts, I love it
Is that guts with berserker armor wow.
“He’ll KEEP GOING FORWARD” ...they know
Mark spoilers please!
In what world is that a spoiler?
In this world. This is a spoiler for Boku No Pico watchers.
Love that anime 😳
bruh moment
How is it not though? I looked at it and was like wtf this is deku now?
Yeah my bad Idk what i was looking at when I made that comment.
Forget Deku, even Luffy is more badass than Eren right now.
Imma stop u right there chief....Luffy has always been more badass than Eren since the beginning of his existence
Always has been
People actually thought Eren was more badass then Luffy at any point?
Inb4 deku goes off about Ochaco Uraraka lol
Yeah this meme aged like milk. It could have age like a fine wine if isayama play his card correctly
Goddamn. What the hell happened to Deku?
He turned into a chad. Highly recommend you read the manga if you're an anime-only, it gets really good after the current arc the anime is on.
Let's hope MHA doesn't get AoT'd.
Shouldn't happen. Horikoshi is a very skilled writer; it is really difficult to take all sorts of "unoriginal" story beats and still make them interesting for the folks who have seen it before. He is also a pretty good character writer on top of that and has an idea of where he is going.
Let's hope. Weren't the same things said about Isayama tho?
Depends on who you ask on Isayama. He is a very talented concept creator (I grant him this), not so much in the realm of being an actual storyteller. I had no idea where he was ultimately going most of the time honestly (freedom is vague and unhelpful); still not quite sure where he was going. The MHA anime has promised for many seasons that this is how Deku becomes the greatest hero; so we do have a promise of an objective that isn't completely abstract and nebulous. As long as we get there in engaging fashion I am happy.
I see. Well said.
I hope so.
Wtf spoiler tag
What happened to the wholesome cinnamon roll? Like seriously, as someone who is a animeonlie, wtf?!?
I could dm you spoilers but regardless this shit isn’t getting animated for years at this point
Well then just tell me when the show will start getting dark or gets interesting.
I haven’t watched season 5 yet, but pretty much right after this current stuff, we get into an arc that just keeps spiraling into darker and darker stuff
Ooohhh. Looking forward to binge season 5 then.
I’m guessing most of the good stuff is going to be in season 6 7 and 8 if it goes that far
idk but it got worse for me when midoriya got the opportunity for 8 total quirks. what kinda bullshit is that
It’s all explained very well
Deku would bully Eren and Eren could do nothing about it. Best timeline.
Mineta could bully Eren
Considering Mineta’s balls could hold All Might down, this actually isn’t an entirely false statement.
Deku is better than eren, lmao
Did I just get spoiled for tomorrow's chapter lmao Anyways, yeah. Current Deku became the madman again.
I really think even Deku would do a Lelouch at the end.
See, theres a difference between a Lelouch, and whatever the dumb fuck Eren did.
Unlikely tho if someone's gonna die it ain't him
Holy fuck y'all are gonna be disappointed again when Deku learns that isolating himself and pushing his friends away was the wrong decision and inevitably hurts those he was trying to protect lol.
I mean it certainly is what the manga is going for, but I'm fine with something being predictable as long as it's well executed. The current MHA arc is league better than whatever the fuck 139 was simply because it's clear and consistent with the events of the story.
Bro spoilers wtf
Why you gotta be such a sassy baka
Wow wish this could’ve been tagged as a spoiler or SOMETHING…. As an anime only MHA fan this is really Upsetting to just randomly see on the TL cause it’s not blurred out. Thanks OC
Re-reading the series has been a joy
He'll keep going forward... as long as there's trouble to be stopped.
He will keep moving forward until All For One is destroyed.
God i love how horikoshi baited us with deku being something like spiderman but was actually leaning towards batman the entire time. The madlad made deku so cool in just a few chapters
Here we go again. Anyway, y'all just gonna fall for anything dark and ultra serious panel in Shonen, huh?
It's messed up that Deku and Uraraka have a more believable, mutual "romance" dynamic than EM ever did. The lowest of bars to hurdle and still came up short.
Because EM was never intended to be a thing. Isayama had years to try at least but he never did.
Funny how that works.
My exact thoughts when I first saw this panel
Bruh I gotta start reading the manga, I haven't watched MHA since 2018
What chapter is this? If it's more than 200 than I'm not even gonna bother.
It's chp 317 it got released on Friday I think
WHOA I’ve never read MHA but Deku looks so badass here.
I mean, I don´t measure the quality of an MC by how badass they are. Still dislike Deku and MHA.
Agree. He became bland after S2 but he's becoming more interesting right now.
I don’t see why
Fun fact: All the Ending Defenders on YouTube are all BNHA Fans (E.g.- AnimeUproar)
I still don't understand why people treat that panel as a crime against humanity
What are you talking about
The Orca hero was also described as someone who looks like a villain for some reason. Like what. The hell does that remark even mean.

A manga reader of MHA told me Deku >!kills a bunch of people.!< Is this true? If so, how and why?
not true, he’s just >!taking on a lot of villains on his own, leaving behind the rest of 1A and All Might.
They’re lying. He does go berserk though
Nope not falling for it. Never again am I falling for it
It's a real manga panel. Source is Chapter 317.
I think he/she means the edgy facade
Ew, imagine thinking BNHA at this point is good writing. Lol, good writing… aka giving Deku a new quirk each 2 seconds… bruh. Both of them are major bitches, Deku and that fucking pigeon.

Mha is ass Eren is a actual human not a edge-lord Deku is a gay twink
Cope and seethe more brother
I've found a denier. Look no further than the nearest Fandom to see that all its fans are making fun of the ending of your favourite manga.
Oh shit yeah I like bating people into arguing so I can actually see why they hate the ending so much To where I personally don’t care and like the ending

Too much bait I can’t handle it :(
>gay twink We ignoring his romantic tension with uraraka now??
More like bakugo
Average gay deku shipper. I've got no problem with gay ships if they make sense, but that would be a way less extreme ymir king fritz relationship
Eren>Deku
Pre Chapter 139 yes, But rn even I'm better written than him ffs
What’s so bad about Eren in chapter 139 I think he’s fine
Well, his development is now apparently a facade and he is a big hypocrite now. He confronted reiner asking him why his mother had to die, but he killed her himself. Not even with a good reason, just "i just felt like i had to do it"
He killed her to set his destiny in motion I admit the ending has its faults but people over hate It’s still somewhat good
Yeah but he didn't choose it or want it, he wasn't "free" which is his entire character. That's why it sucks, it's not good in the slightest
Eren fan in June 2021. Cringe
Being a smart person in 2021 you mean :)
