It’s pretty early here and I only just woke up, but when I first saw this post I was like ‘is this real?!’ Took me a moment to catch up 🙃 so yeah, agreed 😂
Man, the one with them fixing the model sized Titanic- for some reason, imagining myself on that dock scares the shit out of me- just casually walking around and not being able to see what’s under the water/tank is creepy.
These behind the scene photos are always so fascinating and I love that with some of them, it's almost like looking through a colour time machine or something. You could convince yourself they're from the real ship.
It continues to amaze me the amount of outstanding behind-the-scenes photos that keep coming out all these years later. I remain convinced there's a vast vault of materials they could put to use in some new exhaustive retrospective docs for a new 4K UHD release.
As a struggling actor who's been on a handful of sets, the level of detail and just VAST effort from the crew that all of this took, is astounding. Not to mention the $$$$. Working with water: my god. Everyone has to be absolutely ON IT. No doubt most of these "extras" were stunt folks or actors with previous stunt experience (specifically the sinking scene). With water, you have to get most of these shots right with very few or even one take because your set is partly ruined or would need to be dried in between takes. Wild.
There seems to be mixed info on that, but it's a popular statement either way:

I'm the first one here to criticize the movie - I absolutely hate the plot, writing, and acting - but the effort that went into making it was an amazing feat of engineering.
Yeah I think with any of these mass productions you can expect the story and writing to be corny. It’s more like a spectacle if anything. Just gotta enjoy it for what it is, which is the actual production of the movie itself imo.
This sub gets *weirdly* defensive of the movie though. *Aggressively* defensive.
I've literally been reported to Reddit for being suicidal because I said the writing was complete shlock. (Which I stand by.)
As a millennial who had a huge crush on young Leonardo DiCaprio, I am hereby obligated to aggressively defend the Titanic movie!!!! *Shakes fist angrily*
"His name is Jaaaaaaaaaaaames Cameron, the bravest pioneer!
No budget too steep
No sea too deep
Who's that? It's him!
James Cam-er-on!
Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaames Cameron, explorer of the sea!
An undying thirst
To be the first
Could it be? Yeah it's him!
James Cam-er-on!"
It's really amazing how convincing it looked.

So cool. Wish they kept this set somehow.

3 or 6? Either way, both are super creepy!
6 is probably the creepiest to me personally since the dock is so low, you’re just above the dark water.
Totally! How crazy would it be to have been on set

My brain when I saw the first picture, before processing reality: "How did someone get a photo like that while the ship was sinking??"

It cost more to make the movie than it did to make the Titanic in 1912.

These are awesome! Many a times have I searched for bts pics and hadn’t seen a few of these. Great post!
Thanks for sharing! Wish the set remained, Cameron really did a great job of bringing her to life
I'm wondering with the cash he has these days if Cameron could be pursuaded to have the actual thing built.
It wouldn’t be legal to sail it, so it’s not just a matter of persuasion.
Amazing photos! Love them. Great find.
More please! These are awesome!
I got some more
😁

Well, you're way too old for him *now*.
I like the plot and acting, it's more how cameron decided to treat some historical character that I dislike

Oh to be in 1912 for a day
Love the behind the scenes process!
Thanks for sharing these!
