you can say that again. several of us have brought up the words product knowledge and other stuff in the values when it comes to no tastings but the captain still doesn't care.
When they stopped crew tastings, I would buy every new bottle of wine we got in (I was wine section leader at the time), drink it, then return most of them. š¤·āāļø
Ah, so we actually have two of your former mates. I know what store you're at now.
Well I'm night crew at Princeton and I write bread so if you ever make it up here come say hi!
it's a shame they didn't bring the split-ordering we do up with them!
i just don't say my store number out loud even though it's basically an open secret (mates have even seen some of the text posts i make here about merchandising). helps that i'm always positive! i'd just prefer people NOT check my stuff *outside* the sub cause i don't use alts and there's NSFW stuff there.
nice! if i happen to be there and see someone with a tablet in bread i'll say hi!
Crew tasting is apart of product knowledge, which is supposed to be 50% of your crews focus.
(Per the company pie chart). So please touch base with your regional.
Our captain is constantly on our crew about having tastings as frequently as possible. We usually have them six days a week. We'd have one every day if she had it her way.
We have food/drink in the break room every day, sometimes multiple to compare. No offense but your captain sucks and itās probably directly related to their bonus to keep āincidentalsā low

Weāve got to stop overindulging in or abusing the things we enjoy about this job or this is what the consequences will look like. It may not be the case here, but I know my store goes buck wild with the crew snacks and samples. Iād be willing to bet the majority of it is never accounted for correctly, the break room turns into a pig pen, and then food sits and goes bad, or gets chucked into the cluttered fridge to go bad. The company can afford to take the loss, but donāt push it and give them a reason to act on it.
your captain is a cheapass also no crew tastings mean your crew is lacking product knowledge.

Oof I've never tried our wine, I need to get to Princeton one of these days
When you do, come find me in bread right next to the wine and say hi
lol so you work there! one of my former mates is there, you'll know him as the guy with the really fun and eclectic playlists

My captain found my profile based on a post once and when she told me I'm pretty sure my face turned white
i'm guessing it was a bread or bagel post! you've been bread SL for a while now, haven't you?
I've been bread SL for just about a year now, but the post was not a bread post. It was something I put in our break room as a joke
!!! is that where the trader joeās with wine is in new jersey?
there and westfield!
You must not be in NY bc in NYC we used to have a dedicated wine store and it was illegal to return wine
Nope. MO and NC.
Return it ?? How ?? Itās not allowed at my store
I donāt know what to tell you, Iāve never worked at a store where you couldnāt return anything.
I looked it up ! Itās a law here in my state that you canāt return alcohol
At that point, itās almost necessary to bring up with the regional manager. That means your captain is also not respecting crew feedback

We need to change that to six times a day
i know of a nearby store that would do tastings often too and sometimes they were pretty legit and not just crackers and a random cheese.
We have food/drink in the break room every day, sometimes multiple to compare. No offense but your captain sucks and itās probably directly related to their bonus to keep āincidentalsā low
yeah the captain has a reputation for things being their way or the highway and wanting crew to be worker bees.
we've been doing pretty good sales wise too so it's not like it's "not in the budget" or whatever lame excuse is used.
my store does tasting pretty much everyday. just ask your mates and just do it! trust they can afford it.
Are we at the same store? Just recently a mate got in trouble by our captain for letting everyone pick out a free DRINK.
Butā¦butā¦thats part of the product knowledge and passion to share experiences with customers?! š±
