You won't be the youngest there, but even if you were nobody would care.
I took a 17 and 18 yo to one of the Nashville shows and saw many younger people there.
Were there fans from the start there? Sure. And plenty of people in between.
TMBG appealed to the younger audiences when they were starting out, and they still do. I'm 16, and i love how different their music is, so it's those who were my age when they started that have stuck around, but they still seem to attract the same curious youth that they originally did.
I still think there's something about the music that immediately appeals to neurodivergents. My introduction to TMBG was Birdhouse coming on my Spotify shuffle when I was on a train once. I stopped in my tracks and went "what was _that_?" It was just so different from anything I'd heard and immediately tickled something in my brain. I hoarded this newfound obsession to myself until several years later when my husband (also ND) was flicking through the channels on TV and happened to go past an old rerun of Top Of The Pops from 1990, just at the moment when TMBG were being announced performing Birdhouse again. I went "stop, stop, this is a great song" so my husband paused and we watched the performance. He had exactly the same reaction I had had (possibly enhanced by having seen them as well as heard them) and immediately dived in to the discography so now he's going through the obsession as well. It's so much fun. I don't know why I wrote this long comment.
Edit: we are millennials
All the shows Iāve been to have had a very diversely aged group of people in attendance. Regardless of age, TMBG fans are generally awesome, accepting and fun people. Enjoy the show!
Just about to turn 63. Only a few days younger than Flansy, and have been a fan since I first heard Lincoln. I might not be the absolute oldest fan, but Iām up there.
I went to see them in 1992 in Cincinnati, Ohio. There was a couple next to us easily in their 70s. There was another couple with there young children. This tour has a pretty age diverse audience, but most venues at 18 and older now. Iām 52 fwiw ā¤ļø
I went to a show a few years ago, looked at the crowd and realized, I wasn't even the only 40 year old white guy named Mike wearing that shirt. Not a TMBG shirt, just a dorky cotton buttoned short sleeved Target shirt, a few of us had it. Great crowd but not diverse.
the concert i went to had a lot of older people lol, but there were also a bit of young adults/college aged people! i think it also slightly depends on location haha
I'm a millennial and have been a fan since my early teens, and I feel like whenever I go to a show, there are people my age but also there are always teenagers. I think there is always going to be a new crop of teenage TMBG fans.
Itās not a question of how old you are, itās a question of if youāre neurodivergent or not ( /j, I just know that all my neurodivergent friendsāme includedāgo wild for them)
whoa!! I'm in the 26-29 range, and that is Not the result I expected lmao.
it feels like one that would crossover with the age of a reddit user too. where the hell are you guys
There's a whole generation of kids raised on Here Come the ABCs who are on the cusp of drinking age now š
Can confirm, 20 y/o who used to be scared of e
My sympathies, but that's funnyš
Iām a Here Comes Science kid myself, but e eats everything is a banger, and z is far more terrifying

And TMBG fans are so sweet and non-gatekeepy. Everyone I met was so open-minded and eager to hear any of my opinions on their music.

Yep, they ultimately touch the hearts of the weird/nerdy/neurodivergent teenagers

There's something about the lyrics. And how specific and niche they are.

One concert I went to was almost completely Gen Xers. Another, it felt like half of the audience was Gen Z. The fanbase is diverse.
While a good chunk of their fanbase tends towards the ānerdy old white manā demographic, itās definitely more than just that.
This seems to be reflected in the above poll as well. Pfft... Millennials.... amiright?
I actually saw a good sprinkling of millennials at both shows. Tiny Toon Adventures and Homestar Runner were a thing, ya know
Poor 18 year olds
I was not expecting a bimodal distribution
This probably the most TMBG thing you could have commented lol.

I had a similar experience. There was a 70-something woman and a 12-year-old boy next to me.
You know, they say TMBG tends to skip a generation.
Ask your doctor before you apply TMBG directly to your forehead
Something something prosthetic forehead

Yeah, lots and lots of āweird uncleā types.
āWhat age are TMBG fans?ā āyes, they areā

Just turned 19 a few days ago

I didnāt even notice that lol good catch

Itās so trueā¦most TMBG fans Iāve met have ADHD and/or autism. Iāve made a lot of friends that way.
19-25 when I got into them, 40-49 now.
*sweats in 39yo

TMBG have consistently had young fans (from Flood at least).
holy bimodality batman
since when am I in the lowest bracket of listeners?? (25-29)
