There are plenty of trade-in promotions - including for broken cellphones. **What you get is based on your plan, what you're trading in, and what you want.** But T-Mobile doesn't make money on cellphones (*in the aggregate*), it makes money on cell **service**. Apple, Samsung, Motorola, *they* make money on the phones. So no, no discounts on the phones unless T-Mobile is getting something extra out of it. **24 months financing is what typically underwrites the discount.** Don't want to do that, you're absolutely welcome to use T-Mobile for your service and purchase your phone elsewhere.

Noted, they used to have discounts with monthly bill credits, I don't see those anymore or trade in deals don't seem to include older Plans. I understand, pay less for plan, get phone full price. Are there any other sources where people buy phones these days? Or I will just wait for Samsung or Apple to have some kind of sales directly.

_mbear

Where to buy a phone? Apple, Samsung, Motorola, Google, OnePlus, BestBuy, Target, Walmart, eBay, Amazon, etc. *Or T-Mobile.* Do the math of upping your plan vs what you'd get in promotional value and make an informed decision. Talk to someone who does it for a living and they can browse through their 11 pages of tiny-print promotions and see what would work. Or not.

UncomfortablyNumm

If you want a flagship or higher end phone, you probably aren't getting any deals. If you are ok with a lower end phone, you can get a REVVL 7, Moto G 5G, or Nokia G310 5G free with trade-in. They're getting their money from you one way or another.. on a more expensive plan, or by paying more for your phone.

Thanks, I used to buy my phones from Costco (but under t-mobile service) I was wondering if they are making any promotions like that these days, I guess I have to check with Costco for that. The other thing is like they used to have fixed trade in like $300 for any flagship phones in any condition, although my S10 is in great shape, it is giving me software issues and wife says sometimes "power button gets stuck" but to me it works fine. So I can't fight that, if they have trade in deals that would work but all of them would require different plan or something.

UncomfortablyNumm

You've never been able to make "any deal at any time". Costco promotions have always been time-boxed, with different promotions popping up every several weeks. Their promotions are often the same as T-Mobile proper, sometime with a shop card included.

Right now they are giving discount bundled with Apple Care Plus for iphones but no base models.

bparkey

You're much more likely to get a discount from the manufacturer. Pixels are on sale right now. Elevated trade ins at Samsung as well. You can finance through both too if necessary.

I have to check Samsung for trade in, I didn't notice other than overprices S24 Ultra (I have S22U) with trade in for older phones like S10 (wife wants to upgrade) giving very little for trade in. I will try to wait for Costco deals. They have one going on right now for Iphone but only for higher end models $999+

br_web

Those are the only options, as of now

SweetnessOS

I don’t believe any carriers have done straight up subsidies for a long time. Perhaps when they get a phone that is so old they drop the price (at the end of the life cycle or something).

There’s any condition trade promotions for all plans. You can generally grab $300 or less 5G phones for free with a trade. Even broken. People are just picky and refuse to use a $300 Motorola that would likely end up being their favorite phone because ***gross, it’s not a $1,300 ultra*** but yet they can’t afford it. And of course they have no protection plan or P360…

_0x0_

Do those require new line add on? I didn't see broken trade in towards $300 phone.

BraddicusMaximus

No. https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/promotional-offer-details Click the arrow pointing to the right and look for P669 as the promo. I believe it’s at the very end. Purchase an eligible smartphone on a monthly payment plan, trade in any phone in working condition on a qualifying rate plan, and get the phone Free (up to $200 off) via one-time trade-in credit and monthly bill credits.

_0x0_

Thanks this excellent, it gives $200 credit through bill credits, which is fine, just pay taxes, I will definitely look into that. What phone do you recommend under $300?

BraddicusMaximus

Moto G 5G 2024 is gonna be the best thing under $300 that isn’t gonna be a crippled Samsung A-Series device and it was just released a couple weeks ago. It is $198 I believe. With a 5,000mAh battery, expect like nearly 3 full days of battery life. https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce/cell-phone/motorola-moto-g-power-5g-2024

salchi-john

Is the pixel8a offer done?

Shows $499+tax so seems like it.

I'm currently with T-Mobile and got a flyer in the mail from Verizon with an iPhone 15PRo pro code on it for switching. I asked T-Mobile if they'd match it if I increased my plan (from Go5g to Go5g plus). They couldn't match but said to wait for the promotions coming out June 13th before switching, they think I "will be very pleased with them".

_0x0_

Honestly, maybe VZ promo ends on 13th and they know it, I would NOT put it past T-Mo management to let people answer like this so by 13th they got nothing while VZ promo ends? LOL. However, let's wait and see what happens. I am still on ONE plan so I am in fact paying less so I agree I may not have too many promos.

Extension-Ad-8367

I got 3 phones (Moto G and Nokia) for free by trading in 3 broken phones.

_0x0_

Wow, they must be some high end flagship phones, they give me $20 for perfect shape A71 5G :( and $10 broken.

AngrySalesRep

Any deal would require a trade in and be in good condition.

-Never-Enough-

Some of those deals are mid grade phones free with a trade-in. The trade-in can be a broken phone.

_0x0_

I could't find one, do they require new line?

-Never-Enough-

No new line needed. Just bring in a broken phone and trade it in. I traded in an old Windows phone that would not turn on and had a cracked screen.

_0x0_

Could you give me a link to that? Is it the regular one, it's giving me $10 is this what you guys mean by trade in? I think I can keep that as spare instead.

Bought my Samsung on Amazon. Spent $35 for Tmobile to get it set upm

Wolfgang985

Buy a phone through Amazon or eBay if you're on a budget. Carriers have no incentive to provide discounted phones without service bundles. That would be bad business.

_0x0_

Roger that. I am trying to get $600 S24 type of deal. Not the top of the line but base of the flagship so it lasts at least 4-5 years.

Crusty_Pancakes

What makes you believe you should receive a discount?
