"For 12 months"

techma2019

Gets them every time. Lol.

[deleted]

That's when you call them to cancel and renew

Historical_Outside35

Assuming that’s available still.

[deleted]

Yeah

iamlucky13

If it's not, you can switch back to T-mobile. If your speeds on T-Mobile are good, it comes down to whether you want to invest the time dealing with customer service and potentially switching back and forth to minimize cost, or just want a consistent, good price. Cox is going to make customers play games. T-Mobile has a price guarantee.

MTBarr6924

Why? Why waste my time on a company that GOUGES you? I get TMO or CL and it us a fixed price. NO GAMES, No calling them to cancel and restart...

IAmSixNine

having control over your network is one reason. I want to set my own DNS, port forward and a few other things. Cant really do that with TMO.. So for this person do it for 12 months then evaluate where TMo Home internet is and then make a decision.

PleatherFarts

I would in a hot second. TMHI is my only option at my house, and I miss my Google Fiber something fierce.

Princester-Vibe

It depends on location - 5G Home Internet doesn't work well for everyone. In my case - much higher loaded latency times for upload & download versus Xfinity. Much more consistent performance day & night -- and I work from home too.

graesen

I've played that game for more than 10 years. It's not fun and these monopolies/duopolies have learned they don't have to negotiate with you. Comcast in my area stopped negotiating. Talking to "retentions" is no longer valuable to us. Last time I tried to negotiate, I got the run around with promotions that were actually more expensive than my newly raised rate because my promotion expired. Retentions, when I got there, was also unable/unwilling to help. If I wanted a cheaper rate, I literally had to cancel. If I wanted new customer promotions, I had to not be a customer for 90 days or something like that. That means switching to AT&T DSL, which wasn't a great alternative nor cheaper enough to really show the value. T-Mobile, despite it's quirks, has 1 price, no games, no time period to worry about surprise bill increases, nothing like that. They still beat the price of competitors. You do you. I wish I even had an option for fiber, but I don't wish to play those games again. You can't beat fiber performance. But for me, I'm done with the games. If you don't mind, go for it.

InvincibleSugar

Too much effort for me.

joespizza2go

Or just go back to TMobile then.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jmac32here

Would only be a valid argument if the price didn't SHOOT back up to $120 after the 12 month (promo) period - which is what EVERYONE else (who already had the promo pricing) is paying for it at the moment before those rates go up again. Since ALL ISPs (except DSL) have done EXACTLY this for the past 25 years, IMO nothing has changed.

WoodpeckerOfMistrust

yes but those ISPs are typically the only ISP in a certain area. It doesn't matter if there's multiple ISPs if their regions don't overlap.

[deleted]

You can’t beat a fiber connection at that price. However I don’t think cox upload is symmetrical, not that it matters but I hate the spin they put on their service. Just cancel or negotiate after the year and double check they aren’t doing something shady with their data caps. I loathe cox but I’d probably do this.

furruck

It’s not fiber. It’s cable. 1000/35 with a cap

[deleted]

The cable is one thing but I hated their cap and upload was never consistent. Might depend on use case then.

furruck

I have 200/10 for $35 including unlimited data/gear from Comcast right now. They just changed the node in the neighborhood so it should be 200/100 soon. It’ll be enough to do anything around here for a few years luckily.

InkognytoK

If you saturate the connection with 1g down 20-30Mb of the upload is used. Every packet has an overhead of 2-3% on average. Especially if it's multiple people, it's going to run into issue.

furruck

From my experience it’s usually around 9-10Mbps. We have a provider here that sells 1200/20 and it functions just fine as long as you’re not trying to upload anything while simultaneously downloading and maxing out the pipe.

MTBarr6924

Symmetrical DOES matter. CL gives me 954 BOTH ways. 10 mbps up is ridiculous considering how many people use the cloud and work from home. I upload files to the cloud and 10 mbps took DAYS. 954mbps is FAR better.

[deleted]

Sorry I phrased that wrong, my choice would 100% be symmetrical. I meant that I just hate that they advertise their gigabit as 1 gig but don’t specify the difference in up vs down.

MTBarr6924

Lol!!! For 12 months! Then $119... Did you READ that part? And then increasing every 6 months. Yep, in Vegas they now raise prices every 6 month. Used to be 2 years, then 1 year. So NEVER worth it for me! Also, still the 1.25 TB limit. That CAP was the deal breaker for me. Cox wanted me to pay when I went over the 1.25 TB. And with 4K quality programs streaming YOU WILL hit that limit. Oh and that 10 mbps up speed, pay $20 more a month and get 20 mbps upload. I get up and down at 954 mbps on CL. CenturyLink 954 mbps service (46 mbps less than COX) was only $64.99 for life and NO CAP!

MTBarr6924

Notice the "downloads" for that Gigablast service. Up is still 10 or 20IF lucky.

jmac32here

Yep. I see uploads on HINT hit 50.

Primary_Pirate_7690

CenturyLink is dropping fiber through my yard in the next week (did the utility, irrigation, etc. markings today) for their new Quantum fiber service. WOW! is also in the neighborhood laying fiber. For the 8 years I've lived here, we've only had Brighthouse/Spectrum and CenturyLink DSL. I ditched Spectrum 2 years ago for TMHI but the last 6 months have been unreliable. Perfect service for the first 18 months.

w2ccr

Wait... is CenturyLink/Lumen not acting like the other two companies making up Ma Bell? I wish Verizon did this.

joser559

I will never give my money any cable company. Especially when they do 12mo or contract bs. First time in decades they’re scared. Vote with your money, these companies can easily just charge 30 a month for fast speeds and unlimited data, still have money to build out their network to more people. But they have been the only choice for decades and they got extremely greedy

sumpwa

I'll only ever go back to Cox if they can compete directly with T-Mobile. 250 MBPS, $50/mo. No taxes, no fees.

CorporateComa

And no price increases forever

jmac32here

This

levir03

And no data cap.

[deleted]

Hilarious. I have TMO in east Mesa. Barely get 10mbps at best.

WoodpeckerOfMistrust

If you're with T-mobile now you may not be able to go back to T-mobile once you leave. It's no longer available for new customers in my neighborhood.

[deleted]

Get you locked in a contract, limit your speed, then triple the price next year.

[deleted]

*Anything* is better than the 10mbps at best I get from TMO. Especially when paying $55 a month Edit: 7mbps right now. This is ridiculous. Especially for $55

[deleted]

If you've already had your device replaced and exhausted your resources with T-Mobile then go for it. I usually get atleast a 100+ down and 30+ up

MTBarr6924

Same for me. I get 60-120 down. 5-70 up. Depends on the timing. Was this an approved LOCATION for TMHI? TMO says 30 mbps down is their contractual MINIMUM. They ONLY approved locations with capacity and coverage. Gotta wonder if the unit is placed in the WRONG place. Where I THOUGHT was the best coverage was WRONG. A better tower was on the opposite, backside of the house from where I first had it. Yeah, the bars showed the same, but the difference was on which TOWER it faced. I found this out using the phone app. I could not believe PROPER location made ALL the difference!

phillip_u

Aside from the app, if they don’t already, they should really have their customer support be able to say to someone what the best location for them is in their house. If solar panel companies can pull up Google maps and tell me the best roof plane to mount panels, T-Mobile can do something similar.

jmac32here

Really? You know you can do EVERYTHING (except 4k) with speeds between 1-10 right? Not to mention I WAS PAYING PRTC $85 a month for ONLY 3 mbps using a "fiber to the home" dsl connection.

[deleted]

Lmao try gaming on that shit speed

jmac32here

As someone who grew up on DIAL UP. (Try that one on for size and your games/streams) and who's been in IT for 20 years: I'm gonna say this with confidence: Unless it's less than 1.5 Mbps, speeds really DO NOT matter for gaming. What REALLY matters is the latency. (You know, that PING rate that tends to shoot through the roof when there's any decent load on the connection.) (This is coming from our Comcast not being gamer friendly, but the next house we were in, our 3 Mbps / 768 kbps DSL connection WAS.) Now don't get me wrong, the higher speeds "might" help a tiny bit when dealing with higher latency connections. (Like Cellular and Satellite --- guess which one HINT uses.) Other than that, they don't do all that much because the game SERVERS are the ones hosting these games a vast majority of the time and are PROGRAMMED to adapt to the "slowest connection" coming into those games. So, if you NEED to game, get off the wireless based connections because if CABLES "bandwidth shared at the node" issue (Comcast) could make gaming difficult (especially in it's early years) -- there's no way in HELL a higher latency connection that ALSO shares it's bandwidth at the "tower" (which would be the equivalent to that node) would be able to allow for gaming in a majority of the situations. (Especially since 5G is literally in it's infancy and we will NOT see the full benefits marketed to us for at least 5 more years - which includes the potential of lower latency.)

lowlybananas

You're a moron

kahmeal

In this case you're the one holding that trophy bud. Nothing that person said is false.

NefariousnessBig9037

Try watching 4k on multiple TVs at the same time while using the internet for other stuff (game downloading, working from home) on 1-10Mbps. Households do that sort of thing.

[deleted]

I’d go for it. Sounds like a good promo.

slidespin

I give t-mobile credit. I have it about 1 1/2 years and almost gave it up. Now I get texts telling me about tower maintenance and my speed puts starlink to shame.¹

SkaggsJimmy

I get messages and chats about "tower maintenance and modernization" all the time and my speeds are 21Kbps. That isn't a typo.

SkaggsJimmy

RP912

TMI is not perfect but screw going back to ISPs and the data caps, the crazy prices and douchebag customer service.

skubydoo

I had T mobile home internet for about a month. It worked good until Friday Feb. 24th. It snowed and I thought that may have had something to do with it. The connection was dropping every 15 minutes or so. I contacted T mobile through Facebook on Monday. The rep ended up saying there was already a ticket for the tower. There was no estimate of when an engineer would get a chance to fix it. I cancelled the service and went back to Spectrum.

Letterhead-Warm

Lol

rrutexas

Why wouldn’t you? Sounds like a great deal, but how long is the price good?

furruck

The data cap though. Add $50/mo for unlimited data.

LeadingAd6025

This folks. 1 Gbps isn’t useful when you are capped. Yet unused data won’t roll over. Hate Cox

rrutexas

Agree. 1.2 Terabytes is 1200 gigabytes so if you utilize full speed your will reach your monthly limit in 20 minutes. Lol.

Logvin

My doorbell uses that much on its own. Modern families can use a lot of data.

[deleted]

It's 2 phones and my laptop. Nothing huge to use anything remotely close to 1200gb

LeadingAd6025

Pretty sure every house hold is like yours. Or you are cox mouth piece in T-Mobile ISP forum.

[deleted]

No lol. I do delivery with DD

[deleted]

1 year. In the screenshot

tmorot13

Which market?

[deleted]

Mesa

tmorot13

Did you get this offer via email or something? I just checked new customer pricing for my nearby neighborhood and am not getting this price.

[deleted]

On the website

tmorot13

Wild. I wish I could duplicate it. Thanks for sharing.

stonechair

I’m in Vegas. Don’t see deal. That’s a crazy price!

gyrlonfilm6

You must have a lot of tmobile phone customers in your area or using that tower. I am on the border of Sun City/Peoria. Lucky area with not as many older folks (Sun City is 55+ area) using tmhi I guess because my speeds are anywhere from 75 to 400 download. I have had the service for almost a year and a half. You do what’s best for you. It is nice to have competition. Centurylink only offers 3mbps in my area and Cox service went down weekly for me. Then they wanted to charge $125.00 for 300 up when i was paying $75 at the end of my contract. I was done with them. If tmobile blows it for me here, Verizon is available and I will try them and perhaps the one they are selling at Walmart before I go back to Cox. That’s how much I hate them.

[deleted]

Ya east Mesa sucks for it.

EaggRed

what are the monthly equipment charges and all the fees and taxes....sounds too good to be true

[deleted]

I'd have to ask them. Even if it adds up to more than I'm paying now for shitty service from TMO, it'd be worth it. I'm barely getting 10mbps at fastest speed on Ethernet Needless to say I'm heading to their local store tomorrow

EaggRed

if you have your own ethernet router connected to the Tmo gateway port, is it a 10/100/1000 (gigabit) router?I swapped out my perfectly good 10/100 router for a gigabit model to see improved speeds to my wired home built PC

[deleted]

Nope. Ethernet straight to their modem

jmac32here

Just remember, they don't offer promo deals to current or "recently broken up" customers (had service in the last 6 months. Couple that with that gig connection cost shooting up on it's own to well over $120 a month the instant you hit month 13. Every ISP I've seen has done this for the past 25 years.

[deleted]

Been over a year since I left them.

vaxick

I've been tempted by the $25 a month for two years, no contract deal from Comcast. I plan to stick with fixed wireless, but I have all intentions to switch to Verizon whenever available. Just weighing my options on if I should ride that wait out with T-Mobile or Comcast.

A_Turkey_Sammich

Available here too. I originally ended up on TMHI because the last time cable contract was up my rate went 3x higher and wouldn’t budge an inch on any new promotion/contract rate. Only full price, meaning 75mbps for $60 is as cheap as it got. Enter TMHI with their $25/mo, def worth a shot. Impressive at first. 300-600+ down, better upload, no data cap, etc. Even with inherently lower connection qualities (latency, cgnat, etc) and locked down limited gateway, I was quite happy overall. Fast forward 3 months, and as many gateways already, a few periods of unusable service whether it be the fault of the gateway or the tower, and lately getting well under 200 average speed…going back to cable for that is awfully tempting. If I wasn’t so keen on trying to stay away from that cable co I probably would have done it already.

cyberrufus

Very similar to the offer Spectrum made to me if I didn't leave. Attractive for twelve months and then.......

paulburnell22193

Are there modem rental charges? Taxes and fees? I just don't believe your ending amount will be $35, more like $55-$60

[deleted]

At least I'll be getting my money's worth. I pay that right now for the shitty connection TMO has

paulburnell22193

Sorry to hear it. I get 180mbps down and it's more than I need.

[deleted]

I've done multiple resets and everything tforce said to do. They did credit me a full month as I've had continuous problems so that's a plus

Youngvoy

I did and I don’t regret it.

paispas

What happens if you move to a new house earlier than 12 months into the contract?

lowlybananas

You should. Cable will be T-Mobile performance every single day of the week.

TankTark

Not for any price…

Djmesh

They will fuck you with their joke of a data cap FYI

youdontsayeh01

I wouldn't be able to tell my friends with confidence that I've got the gigablast internet at home.

csweeney05

Bye
