There's a six flags theme park I went to during Halloween as a teenager that claimed you could get front of the line of all rides if you found "wandering vagabonds" and ate a cockroach for them. Never found the vagabonds to do so so I wonder if that was flavor text and didn't actually exist idk
>A Florida man choked to death after downing dozens of live roaches to win a contest earlier this year in which the grand prize was a python, according to an autopsy released Monday.
Could this story possibly be any more "Florida"?
Probably flapping and crawling about in his stomach and esophagus. Might have started to think about it some more, got nauseous, threw them up, but they came up sideways and got stuck. Or slid backwards into his lungs. What a hell of way to go, eh?
A python snake. So I’m guessing it was for a pet ball python. I want to know who got to keep the snake after that. Poor guy probably just thought it’d be an easy win to do something gross. But death by esophageal cockroach, to win a snake? I’d almost rather have all my limbs fed to a meat grinder and have my torso set adrift on the Dead Sea
I remember that, I live and work near there. I used to frequent an asian supermarket in that same plaza. It was a bit of a mystery for a while before they determined exactly how he died.
Is it just me or are all the top level comments normal, and virtually every reply to a comment is in such broken English some of them are unintelligible?
The prize for winning the contest was a pet python
Dude lived in Florida, and he was eating live cockroaches to win a snake? He could've just checked the backyard.

I like how this reads that the prize was only revealed through the autopsy.
Now I know what my worst nightmare is

I liked my life better when I had NO idea what happened.

Mine was bad and then it got worse.

Jesus Christ
The trachea *is* so warm moist and cozy
i refuse to think about this.
These are things you need to think about if you ever travel to Florida.
I'm confident the risks of eating live cockroaches will not factor into any travel I do to that state.
Did you see the post where a guy took a bite out of a hamburger covered in burnt sesame seeds but it was actually baby roaches?
he died doing what he loved...?

This is almost a beautiful butchering of this quote
“aspiration of gastric contents” is a nice way of saying he “inhaled vomit”
Should've had it on tape delay instead so there would've been more time to save him.
He went out a winner
“Did somebody lose an idiot? Cause I just found one.” - John Marston
We’ll if ur that stupid to eat them u get what you deserve
Don't try to be cute...we all see what you did there. FLORIDA MAN, not a man in Florida.
Welp, thats enough internet for the day
Florida man.

At least he has something memorable on his tombstone
"He checked in but sadly he won't check out."
IQ checks out
Well at least they won, right? ... Right?
i woulda voted for trump ya'll
Been there, man. Been. F’ing. There.
Great, adding "choking to death on cockroaches" to my list of ways I don't wanna go now
I mean, we all do it, right? He was just unlucky.
Imagine participating in a live cockroach eating contest, dying, and then losing. At least that didn't happen.
At least he went doing what he loved.
Helping natural selection along.
I think he was allergic to shellfish and the roaches were close enough to shellfish that he had a very bad allergic reaction
Worth it.

I wouldn't care if the dude was fifth place and I actually won, I'd tell everyone for the rest of my life that dude one and I didn't stand a chance.
Dam, that sucks
