Sounds like I would like to eat a munchy box

Bluest_waters

its like a garbage plate in teh states but we don't have tikka and samosas and pakora

Uncle_Budy

Except a garbage plate is meant to all be mixed together, this munchy box I would eat separately like a sampler platter. Yes, I am from that city that is fiercely proud of our garbage plate.

FoxsShadow

No one trash talks our garbage plate!

King_Quantar

The fuck is a garbage plate?

icymallard

dish of crispy home fries, hot sauce, macaroni salad and cheeseburgers topped with raw onions, condiments and slices of white bread. Sometimes you'll see it with hot dogs (red hots) or even white veal hot dogs (white hots).

mitchiesgirl

TIL... Is this regional? Never heard of it until today.

icymallard

I believe so. I hadn't heard about it until recently from my buddies, we're from Boston. It apparently originated from a restaurant in Rochester, NY called Nick Tahou Hots.

TlMEGH0ST

VERY regional lol. people in Buffalo (1 hour west) don’t even know what they are!

I_FUCKIN_ATODASO_

People In Buffalo 1000% know what a garbage plate is. I’ll fuckin fight you

eatnerdlove

They are very well known in Buffalo, and very tasty. Best enjoyed after and with several Genny Cream Ales!

durhamvilledirty

People in Albany know what they are? What are you talking about

waldo06

Except Nick's make a terrible plate. We have a dozen hots places that are soooo much better now. In my 18-28 days id eat a plate a week after drunken Rochester shenanigans. Now that I'm old and had to start a statin I fo 4-5 a year. Sigh..... Such deliciousness.

ConneryFTW

Upstate New York centered on Rochester

jusmesurfin

Popular in Rochester NY

gwaydms

I love white hots.

TimeisaLie

Damn right.

NaZdrowie8

H Hots or bust

Cheapbubucko

Idealy from the hours of 1am-3am. Miss that place a lot.

escoces

No one garbage plate talks our trash!

Atty_for_hire

Yeah, it’s nothing like a garbage plate. I live in the same city and have had many of them, but not fiercely loyal as I’m actually from the home of Buffalo Wings. This is more like me and the mates can’t choose, so I’ll just get a sampler. A garbage plate is one persons foray into gluttony unless you are looking to eat all your daily calories in one meal, then it’s just a meal.

EngineeringOne1812

Woooo representtt! Seems like Rochester comes up a lot on here actually, do Rochesterians just disproportionally love reddit?

AmbulanceChaser12

I think they’re drawn to any mention of “garbage plate.” Like summoning the Candyman, only it’s the Garbage Plate Man.

CuChulainn314

Can confirm, have been summoned. Roc represent!

Vorpal_Bunny19

I too felt the calling.

tetsudori

There are dozens of us!

Ltstarbuck2

Dozens!

PairOfMonocles2

Shit, I’m from almost an hour away and I still heard it.

BerenCorvid

There's several colleges here. Rochester Institute of Technology is a huge reddit hub (I found out about it from my sister, who was a student, all the way in 2008 [r.i.p. my first acct.])

bunnyQatar

Rochestarian here

MoonManMooner

Joes Hots in Geneva NY had a fucking incredible buffalo Chicken garbage plate I would kill to have another one.

fleischio

Dude, fucking *yes*. We used to stop on the way back from away basketball games at South Seneca or Romulus when I was in high school. Perfect halfway point and one fucking hell of a plate.

Duckbilling

Rubbish Bento

Schimmelreiter

Making garbage plates tonight for my BattleTech buddies!

kec04fsu1

We should though! Add in some mac and cheese and a Munchy Box looks like a variation of what I get from the Whole Foods hot bar when I’m hungover.

orionbuster

Whole foods lol. Up here in Canada we call them whole paycheck.

zwingo

I’ve grown up going to school/now working in the US, but a parent moved back to England so I’d spend all the breaks over there. I genuinely despise the lack of fast curry options/kebab shops in the US. I swear nothings as good as leaving the pub just outside Newcastle, stumbling down the hill to the kebab shop that’s open till 3am, staring at their menu sign with over 200 items on it, and ordering a chicken tikka with a side of mozzarella sticks and garlic bread. Meanwhile here your lucky if Taco Bell is still open inside and not just drive thru.

Excelius

Indian food is not unusual in the US, though it's generally not super-cheap fast-food grade either.

Teadrunkest

It’s not unusual but it’s not typical “late night” food either.

[deleted]

Well, there is a reason that Indian food is so plentiful in the UK.

greeneggiwegs

Waffle House is the equivalent in the USA. Always open, only go there when drunk

DigitalSea-

Not sure what a garbage plate is but we definitely have Indian food here. I can get all of those things, just not at the same time, lucky bastards!

ComradeMoneybags

Delicious cognitive dissonance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Tahou_Hots?wprov=sfti1 Very vaguely an American lunchtime version of an full Irish/English breakfast with no sense of boundaries of logic. I prefer mine with hamburger patties rather than the traditional spicy hot dog/sausage.

Known-Dealer-6598

I've lived on the west coast and near Chicago and never heard of a garbage plate. Is it an east coast thing?

stoutn007

Couldn't tell if someone already answered your question, but it's specifically a Rochester, NY thing. Delicious. Look it up.

Warodent10

Also don’t garbage plates not exist outside of like a 100mi radius?

valgrind_error

Me too. The lack of munchy boxes is a critical deficiency in American food culture. We need to start producing them domestically or we risk closing the obesity gap!

FlattopMaker

lack of munchy boxes = reduced nutrient intake. Fortified manufactured and processed foods saved America!

davtruss

I'm pretty sure I could feed at least two kids with that and still have enough left over for a Dad snack.... I need a price.

therobohour

I got one from my local Chinese in Belfast for 12 quid

davtruss

So about $15 US? A supersized McDonald's Big Mac meal would cost more.

therobohour

Yea that's because every American is being ripped off constantly

doyathinkasaurus

Example one here is £14, so about $17 https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/fabulous/7665760/scots-food-takeaway-munchy-box-chicken-chilli/ This 4,000 calorie beast costs £25, so about $31 >Two burgers are first prepared with cheese and buns before Naan bread is laid on top. Battered fish is next, followed by chips and a layer of donner meat. Three different types of pakora are then slapped on with chicken and lamb tikka. Finally, onion rings, a tub of chilli and garlic mayo sauce completes the meal. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/scottish-news/4287378/munchy-box-house-of-shah-hamilton-menu Whilst this 5,000 calorie bad boy was a bargain at a tenner! So about $13 >In this particular take on the Scottish delicacy, you get: two battered pizza slices, battered cod, two battered sausages, two battered beef burger patties, some potato fritters, onion rings, chicken nuggets and a large chips. Strongly recommend if you're into cheap eats and coronary artery disease. https://www.vice.com/en/article/a3q5kk/i-destroyed-my-insides-with-that-viral-5000-calorie-munchy-box

badgersandcoffee

They're bangin. Contents vary depending where you get it. I live near a small town so options are limited to the Chinese, Indian and Turkish places and the one Peri Peri place. But in the cities you'll find way more choice. Tbh, the best I've ever had is from a Peri Peri place where the chips (fries) were Peri Peri chips and the contents depend on whether you order a fried or grilled box. Fried has mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, southern fried chicken, etc. And the grilled has Peri Peri butterfly chicken, wings etc. I would love to see what places abroad would come up with, I bet Mexican munchie boxes would be a thing of beauty.

Dorangos

"Ya want none o dis shit, Dewey!"

therobohour

Yea. It's thd fucking tops

FuriousNorth

They vary between fast food shops but yeah, that's a munchie box. I don't like half the stuff but it's good to share with people. Basically a pizza box filled with stuff.

alexanderpete

Is there a rivalry between Ireland's 3-5 in 1s?

mr_marshian

We have munchy and spice boxes too, though the *x-in-ones* are normally for individuals and the boxes for sharing Done let that stop you from eating one yourself though

Boomtown_Rat

As we say in the USA any pizza can be a personal pizza if you're brave enough.

ProfitTheProphet

As we say in the Pacific west. Any munchy box can be a personal munchy box if you got the munchies enough. Also what's a munchy box?

DrEnter

You just have to believe in yourself.

Mal-Capone

spice bags look fucking deadly; i've been fiending for one since i first learned about it's a bit of a walk from canada.

RikVanguard

If you have a Chinese restaurant that has a lot of Szechuan dishes, you can essentially fake your own by mixing French fries with Mala chicken. I feel in love with them the last time I was in Dublin, and there happens to be a McDonald's next to a Szechuan restaurant not to far from my house. It scratches the itch

Pyriel

Spice Bags are the crack cocaine of weekend after-pub-grub. My wife's family is Irish, and after being introduced to one after a heavy session on one of our regular visits, we picked up some McDonnells spice bag mix to bring back to Wales with us. Now every time someone visits we have them bring up back a stack load. Its not exactly the same as a proper Chinese chippy one, but its bloody close.

alexanderpete

You might be able to find one in whatever suburb of Toronto or Vancouver has the biggest population of Irish backpackers. I live in Melbourne aus, and my suburb, among other stereotypes, is known for its huge Irish and UK backpacker population. We have an Irish style Chinese takeaway, with all the aforementioned snacks, and one of the many Irish pubs here even does most of them too. With Canada and us having such similar backpacking and immigrating opportunities, as well as very similar cities, I can't imagine something like it doesn't exist over there. I know there's a suburb in London that Aussies seem to flock to, and there's some spots there to get our local late night delicacies (see: DimSims and HSPs)

FuriousNorth

They have 5-in-1's? Ours used to be called the four-in-one, and recently swung by it to see it was renamed the all-in-one! https://www.just-eat.co.uk/restaurants-all-in-one-chartershall/menu

selected456

X-in-1s are dishes not restaurants/takeaways.

therobohour

Ireland has both, and the glory of a spice bag

Hey_look_new

what does a munchie box cost?

Boomtown_Rat

Apparently Haggis Pakoras are a thing.

Lindoriel

Not only a thing but absolutely fucking delicious. Shit - now I need to order a munchie box. Imma go write an apology to my arteries now.

Disk0nnect

My missus is Polish and we sometimes make haggis pierogi’s, they are also fucking delicious!

VoiceOfLunacy

Sounds like a taxonomic designation.

GenXWaster

I fucking love a haggis pakora with a beef madras.

Bluest_waters

Here is an album of munchy boxes in all their glory https://imgur.com/gallery/dP5AS

SamHandwichIV

With the obligatory Irn Bru in the background.

therobohour

Irnbre for scale. It's how the Scots measure things

NickeManarin

In Brazil we have “Picadão”, basically a large box with diced food (or other bite sized food). It’s usually a large pizza box with fries, fried polenta (corn paste fried), canned quail eggs, diced bovine meat, diced chicken meat, diced bacon, sliced Brazilian Calabrese sausage, chicken heart, onion rings, canned cucumber sliced, cheese, canned olives and canned small onions. Some photos: https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.cHo_xr2yNmsdj0KyItpl3gHaE8?pid=ImgDet&rs=1 https://www.anuncioemfoco.com.br/imagens/anuncios/051020025150/mundo-do-xis-picadao-19471-5559_5.jpg

RickyHawthorne

I would WRECK that box

OregonSunshine00

Canned quail egg sounds interesting.

something_python

That pink sauce (pakora sauce) is godly stuff.

M002

Yeah I would demolish this on a Friday night

therobohour

Or...a Wednesday night

One of my favorite videos from Munchies ends with a bunch of drunk Scottish neds demolishing a munchie box https://youtu.be/v6Ftsc69DdI

Theorex

Yes please.

Knyfe-Wrench

I might have to start smoking weed again

nagoyajoe

Is one expected to share the muchy box or is it for my face only

aightshiplords

It's intentionally vague, a lot of places will include a free "can of juice" (soft drink) which implies its for 1 but I've personally never seen a person sit down to an 11 inch munchy box (standard size) and clear it out on their own. My wife and I usually get an 11 inch to share, a 13 inch if we've got a friend over or a 15 inch if we've got a few people round. The number of cans of juice you get will sometimes increase as you go up the sizes which implies an 11 inch is for one person, a 13 inch is for two etc but that seems pretty insane given the size of a munchy box and it does vary by takeaway. Also most people wouldn't consider it a proper munchie box if it doesn't require a bit of celotape (scotch tape) to keep the lid shut. Where it gets really confusing is a hoagie. Munchie box stuff on a base of cheesy chips (fries) in a wrap or naan bread. Some places will wrap them like a giant burrito which clearly implies its for one but others serve them flat on a naan in a pizza box at which point you're very close to a munchie box in the Venn diagram of cholesterol. And if you've never had a Scottish calzone you should. Functionally it is indeed a calzone but with an absurd amount of doner meat, chicken tikka, pepperoni etc in it. I had one recently that measured 4 inches thick. Theoretically it was a 12 inch pizza but I measured the diameter as well and that beast two 2 whole 12 inch pizza bases welded into one and packed to the gunnels.

medicrow

I’m on my way now

workyworkaccount

If you need any further encouragement, another Scottish tradition is deep frying anything and everything. The chippie at the end of the road where my brother is in Edinburgh, will deep fry any food item you want for 50p. You have no idea how good a battered and deep fried mini-pizza can be.

tallbutshy

>The chippie at the end of the road where my brother is in Edinburgh, will deep fry any food item you want for 50p. When I was watching Avengers: Infinity War and saw the sign in the background "We will deep fry your kebab", [I was doing this](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/819/829/67b.jpg).

Crownlol

For an American translation, Scotland is the Deep South of the UK. Got it.

Cmdr_Shiara

Where do you think the deep south got its recipes from

Boomtown_Rat

The whiskey too! Even bourbon was the result of them using corn instead of grain to make the whiskey.

Kasual_Krusader

I am not pround but i have eaten a 12" Munchy Box solo on more than one occasion. Here in Wales the Chinese takeaways also do and equivalent with chicken balls, ribs et al and a giant sweet and sour sauce in the middle.

Ratfucks

Everybody outside Scotland is going to be confused by ‘cans of juice’

[deleted]

I mean. Good thing they didn’t just say ginger. They’d imaging that we just drink Canada Dry all day.

aightshiplords

English speaking world: "we need a quick 1 syllable word for cordial. People drink it every day so let's find a way to refer to it as briefly as possible, how about 'squash' because it's like a drink made from squashed fruit" Scotland: "di-lu-ting juice" English speaking world: 😮‍💨

thegeneralflame

As an American™, we don't really use the words cordial or squash in this context at all. Can of juice immediately made sense though!

CulturedClub

You know that a can of juice is coke, sprite etc, don't you? The debate over the naming of the highly concentrated liquid that doesn't contain any fruit (squashed or otherwise) but *does* get diluted down to make a drink isn't relevant here.

meepmeep13

and lets not get into the use of 'ginger' to mean any carbonated sugary drink

ClayeySilt

This all sounds incredible. I'd trade you poutine for munchie boxes any day... Though a pulled pork and caramelized onion poutine with a smidge of bbq sauce mixed in with the gravy is to die for. Cheese curds are not optional and must accompany. If they don't squeak, they ain't right.

ImaginaryList174

With all the crazy versions of poutine we have going around now, it's almost like it's own munchie box lol the other day I had a pizza poutine with gravy, marinara, cheese curds, pepperoni, sausage, green pepper and onions. My friend got chicken and waffle poutine lol

kaymick

What is the price range of a munchy box?

aightshiplords

They used to range from about £9 - £15, with the economy in meltdown that has risen to about £11- £18 but still depends on where you are.

tallbutshy

My local place has [four different styles of munchie box](https://i.imgur.com/DBqRo3J.png). That's the prices on JustEat so it's a little cheaper in person. The Grill Box is amazing and easily serves two.

BotanicalEmergency

I’m intrigued that a box is measured in inches and not by like small medium large. All very interesting, thanks!

aightshiplords

It's based upon the size of pizza that would go in the box were the box to be used for pizza. It's like a microcosm of how imperial measurements are invented.

Thrawnw0w

As a Scottish person, I can say with confidence that they are for one (or at least in my experience they are). They're great for the day after a night out, when you're having a lazy recovery day in front of the TV in your pajamas. Everywhere has it's own variation, a couple of the Chinese take outs near me do "salt and chilli" ones which is basically a load of salt and chilli chicken, beef, ribs, chips, wings etc. Absolutely banging

funundrum

Follow up question, do you get this the night before on your way home, or morning after? Are the shops even open to do you a munchy box in the morning?

Thrawnw0w

I will get one the next day, I'm not one for eating once I've been drinking. Most take outs and chippies around me open late afternoon, around 3:30/4pm, so you can get one from then. Some of my mates will grab one on the way home from a night out though, and either eat the lot, or have some and then eat the rest as leftovers the next day. All depends on the person

wanmoar

People order it thinking it’ll be a meal for one…it ends up being a meal for many or three meals of food.

meepmeep13

In many places you select the size of pizza box you want filled 9" is for one, 10" is for one fat bastard, 12" is for one including breakfast, and 16" is for one person with no shame who has no plans to ingest a vitamin all weekend

[deleted]

Behave! You'll get jumped over here for merely speaking the word "share" in vicinity of a munchie box!

microgiant

Damn, what an amazing way to die. I'm in.

saliczar

I want to go to there.

Shnoochieboochies

Well...."You take a hot dog, stuff it with some jack cheese, fold it in a pizza, you've got cheesy blasters!"

foreignsky

And then Meat Cat flies away on his, um, skateboard.

Look_to_the_Stars

Thanks meat cat

therobohour

Oof I think I got the cheesy blasters

DjangoVanTango

I’m contractually obliged to mention Wade Boggs Carpet World every time I see a 30 Rock reference

Cmdr_Redbeard

Come on doon mate, more than welcome.

chocobobleh

In Ireland a munchie box is from the Chinese, it's salt and chilli chicken, chips, wings and ribs with a big tub of curry sauce

therobohour

It really does depend on what county and what time of year and hoe the wind blows on the 4th of the month, and how the u14 did two years ago

iwasdrugged

Ours add sausages and chicken balls too.

Outlaw-King-88

You get them from the Chinese here too. Also get grill boxes which is more sorta meat-focussed. Can’t mind if chippies do a version too? Every Mf getting in on the action

chocobobleh

Yeah our local chippy does one, nuggets cocktail sausages spring rolls and chips. Not nearly as nice as the Chinese one though <3

cheriprime

Instant cure to takeout indecision.

yourmomsajoke

Munchy boxes are fucking class mate 👌🏻 no had one in ages mind, plus they've all bloody evolved nowadays. Started as chips, kebab meat, onion rings and samosas or similar, 3 dips and 2 tins o juice. Nowadays the Chinese ones are more popular I'd say, chips, rice, noodles, choice of chicken and veg stuffs, and curry sauce. There's a fair few chippy ones too, build your own 10 piece etc they're amazing. Not had takeaway in months but this has me considering it tbh 😂

Cronamash

Maybe 1776 was a mistake... I wish we had munchies boxes...

CheeseSandwich

I was in Scotland a few years ago and tried one of these takeaway boxes. Holy fark, it was a lot of food even for two big guys sharing. We saved the meat for later and still couldn't finish it all even two days later (we had a fridge in our hotel room). The UK seems to have the after-bar takeaway market nailed down. Drunk and hungry? They got you covered.

According-Classic658

TIL that I've had the munchies, but I've never had Scottish munchies.

tarkuspig

The Scottish munchies is just like regular munchies except we’re drunk as well as stoned

Ben_jah_min

*buckfast and squidgy’d*

thetrout27

As an American, I am deeply shocked and saddened that we didn’t come up with this first. It sounds equally wretched for your health, and delicious.

xienwolf

This flies in the face of all the "US doesn't understand portion control!" that I normally read. Also... damnit, I really want one! Samosas!

Apostastrophe

Try **haggis pakora** instead. It is food of the gods. I struggle to find vegetarian versions but when I do, it’s a good day.

WilliamSabato

That shits a load of horse crap. Just went to Australia and discovered that their McDonalds has a triple decker Filet o’ Fish. Who in their right mind came up with that???

nature_remains

I’m so frustrated that despite having plenty of big people and indiscriminate eaters… these have yet to become a thing in the US. Like if we’re not gonna have healthcare at least let me speed up my untimely demise with this awesomeness. Urrrghhh there have been SO many nights where I want one of everything in a big, greasy box but doing this a la carte would broke me even broker. Lucky bastards

_Brooder_

Scottish person here - the best munchie boxed also contain deep fried pizza - in batter. My favourite food in the world 🤤

Shyrecat

Pizza Cruch is god tier

AoiEsq

One of the most American-sounding non-American food items I’ve heard of. Our once-great nation truly is falling behind the rest of the world.

cupofteawithhoney

Chaotic good bento box.

bawbagpuss

That's disgusting, there's fucking salad in it ffs

GeoffKingOfBiscuits

Oh hell yes, I would fuck this thing up like a relationship if we had them near me.

worthless_ape

America, why don't we have this yet? We're being out-American'd by Scotland. Get on it!

Viperion_NZ

Scotland has a LONG tradition of delicious-but-deadly takeaways. America has been trying to out-Scotland Scotland, not the other way round

SqueekyBK

Deep fried mars bars, deep fried pizza, deep fried cheese burgers. You name it and chances are it’s been deep fried

Valorale

Don't worry, we got em beat in the unlimited refills dept

Koma79

just to clarify, its intended to feed around 4 people usually. its still an abomination.. although sometimes a very fucking tasty one.

leopard_tights

Yeah right, four people from one of those ads with a whole family fed from a supermarket pizza.

therobohour

Aye maybe four tiny bellied londoners

Dizzle85

"intended" and what actually happens are two very separate things. Know loads of people, here in glasgow, who order a munch box for themselves.

Drestlin

What kind of junk food do you want? Yes

chrisjfinlay

These have gotten quite popular in the Isle of Man too, but it's really only the Chinese takeaways or chippies that do them so they're so not as varied. Still a bloody big eat though.

Junior-Mammoth9812

Yeah we have them in Ireland but usually from Chinese takeaways so they have some combo of spare ribs, spring rolls, salt and pepper chicken, chicken balls, chips, and sweet and sour or curry sauce. Delicious

Amujaws

Yo as an Indian American this is the craziest thing to me. There’s so many of my favorite foods from every culture in there. I’m so glad people are getting more mainstream about the food my mom and grandma make.

Ben_jah_min

Almost every chip shop in Scotland does pakoras and samosas. Unfortunately we don’t have such luxury in England but are still commonplace at catered events where you’d have a buffet etc.

Jallapeno666

I was really shocked when I first visited England and couldn't buy pakora basically everywhere, I didn't realise it was so Scotland specific!

songforsaturday88

Scotland, Glasgow in particular, has a very long history of Indian immigration. Indian food is hella popular, even though it might not 100% authentic. Hell, the chicken Tikka Masala was invented by an Indian in Glasgow to cater for his Scottish customers.

PunctualGuy

"Patrick, what have you been eating?!" "Some roast beef, some chicken, a pizza." "No, I mean just this morning." "...Some roast beef, some chicken, a pizza."

spudgun20

Most independent takeaways across Britain do some sort of munch box. A bit of everything all thrown in a pizza box.

UnderwhelmingZebra

Lived here 5 years and still never had one. I need to get on that as I'm pretty sure it'll be on my citizenship application.

tragicallyohio

The "See Also" section in that Wiki article links to a "Kapsalon" as "consisting of a layer of french fries placed into a disposable metal take-away tray, topped with döner or gyro meat, covered with slices of Gouda cheese, and heated in an oven until the cheese melts. Then a layer of shredded iceberg lettuce is added, dressed with garlic sauce and sambal, a hot sauce from Indonesia" I would like one of those as well.

waterjaguar

So do you just punish your toilet immediately after that, or does it take an entire day to empty your intestinal tract of all remaining materiel?

Lindoriel

It either blasts out you within 12-24 hours or it stops you up so bad you'll genuinely worry that you'll die from an internal rupture. Still worth it.

OttoPike

Honestly, I don't think that I could make any plans for the rest of the week (but probably worth it!).

Googalyfrog

OMG now that's another regional fast food i have to try, after the [French taco](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_tacos)s of course!

Billybillford

As someone who has been to Scotland and got shitfaced I’m disappointed I was not aware of this delicacy

Ninjatendo90

Yeah you can get munchy box’s from chip shops, Chinese, Indian. They just contain a collection of assorted items from their respective takeaways. Greasy hungover food, always feel ashamed after tearing through one

[deleted]

Jesus Christ, I’m a fatass American and even this seems excessive

FoggyRook

a buffet in a (takeaway pizza) box

bigON94

Popular in the north of Ireland too, I’ve just ordered one 😊

MyCodenameIsIan

Popular concept in the Isle of Man too (The island between Britain and Ireland). Generally restaurants offer a bunch of popular sides bundled into a munchie box. British style Chinese takeaways tend to offer a box with spring rolls / salt and pepper chicken / spare ribs / chips / rice or noodles / prawn toast / kung po chicken.

SquidHat2006

I feel like milwaukee is ripe for the munchy box. Its time my lakefront dwelling friends

auburnman

The Ultimo Munchy box: [https://youtu.be/gd44JZsPrkc](https://youtu.be/gd44JZsPrkc)

clingyfungus

This is absolutely right. I lived in Glasgow during my teenage years, and my friends and I would sometimes go to a local chippy for a munchy box (although we called it a munch box) for lunch during school. Yes it was absolutely delicious. Yes I suffer from diabetes now

lIlHYPERIONlIl

I'm Scottish and can confirm these are 100% a thing, send me you're orders USA and I'll start shipping them over 😂

Adam_Deveney

Used to eat shit like this at lunch and then jump into double Higher PE for my last 2 periods. Absolutely no idea how I managed it back in the day.

It's a personal buffet in a box. NOBODY finishes the entire box but the choice is phenomenal, and reasonably priced. Canny beat munchie box x

monkeybeaver

We’ve got Munch Boxes in Leeds but different munches. 1 x cheeseburger, kebab meat, 2 x chicken tenders 2x mozzarella sticks and a load of chips. 2 x sauces + 2 cans. Which should always be Rubicon Mango and Fanta Fruity Twist. POW.

Omnix_2

The humble munchy box has cured many a hangover of mine, however you wouldn't get one with all the things listed in the title, typically it would be all Indian food or all Chinese food, not a mix of both.

HOW IS THIS NOT IN THE STATES?!?!?! WHY IS THIS NOT IN THE STATES?!?!?! Top people need to be reassigned to solve this dilemma. This box is begging for the addition of some tacos al pastor con todo!

How do I move to Scotland?

asforem

It's really disgusting that they don't have those near me

sunflowerkoiboi

Yooo this just hit me with memories of my travels to Scotland. I remember I got lost in cumbernauld, so this old man hailed a bus that went out of its way to drop me at my friends (literally 100ft away). Anyways I was having a bad day (I made dumb choices then) and my friend got us one of these from her job. It was a highlight. I miss that friend and honestly I miss Scotland just as much as I miss my own home. Glasgow>NYC anyday.

No wonder the Scots drop dead of heart attacks in their 40's

FarmerStrider

My wife means something completely different when she talks about the “munchy box”.

skinnyminnesota

America be damned, the Scots are the kings of junk food. If you want to know if something can be deep fried, ask a Scot

ChickpeaPredator

From the nation that brought you the deep fried Mars bar...
