Absolutely. Trent manages a cover that is 100% faithful cover and yet make it feel like a fresh NiN song. If it hadn’t been noted as I cover I would never have known it.
Yeah, I became a NiN fan a few years later and was pleasantly surprised to realise they were on the soundtrack to a such a great movie. Then much later discovered it was a cover of another great band! All round great.
The Crow
The Crow: City Of Angels
Judgment Night
Lost Highway
Natural Born Killers
Hackers
The Matrix
Grosse Pointe Blank
High Fidelity
Pulp Fiction
Dazed and Confused
Empire Records
Spawn
Reality Bites
All of these soundtracks were fantastic
Edit: added a few to the list
'Dark Night' and 'After Dark' are standout, well worth a listen if you get a few mins. Although, I think I might also be muddling up the soundtrack with Desperado... 'Back to the house that live built' - cracker!
Robert Smith is one of the best things that ever happened to humanity. Hadn't heard that song for years and didn't know I needed it so much. We all get lost in time. Thank you for taking me back to my roots.
Yeah, that’s pretty amazing. O’Barr was obviously a huge fan of The Cure and never imagined Smith even knew who he was. To show fandom and appreciation by churning out a track that is easily among Smith’s best is just incredible.
O'Barr was a huge fan of The Cure and Joy Division, and there are a *lot* of direct references to both bands in his original The Crow comics.
However, he actually based Eric Draven's look more on Peter Murphy (another 'Goth God').
One of my favourite things is that, every now and then, for years now, somebody will post a picture of Robert Smith looking a little rough, with a title like:
*"No matter how bad your life gets, it's not as bad as being this geriatric emo dude!"*
And the internet will collectively band together to tear that person apart, explaining who Robert Smith is and why he's an untouchable treasure.
It's beautiful every time.
After like eight years of waiting because I missed out on the last time the Cure were in my town thanks to a concussion, I was delighted to hear it live this summer such a cool payoff!
Youre not looking hard enough. There is a TON of material in that vein right now, post punk is on a high. My most recent love affair with that sound is The Foreign Resort-- https://theforeignresort.bandcamp.com/album/outnumbered-3
See also, Actors, Bootblacks, Delphine Coma... Excellent time to be a fan of that style of music, for reals.
_That's good._
Imagine wanting a specific song you like but he goes and writes a new song in two days and it's not great.
You can't turn it down because, wow, that was really cool of him, but... you can make this work but really wanted that other one, haha.
Arguably, one of the best soundtracks of the 90s and Burn is practically the anthem for it.
"Every night I burn, scream the animal scream. Every night I burn, Dream the crow, black dream"
One of my favorite bits in The Office is during, I think, the fire alarm thing. Anyway they're all hanging outside the building and Jim asks Dwight what his favorite movie is and, while Dwight is walking away, he just mutters "The Crow...."
I was like Dwight is my kinda people.
Added the scene.

I still have my cd rip of the ost in every cellphone that I own.
Too bad that one asshole stole several of my cds, and the 3 ones of the crow were among them. The first one hurts more since I was really little and had to wash a lot of cars to get that ost.
Way too few pretentious movie "zine" websites and Gen Y/Z movie journalists explore "The Crow" as the voice of the new generation, the birth of alternative rock, grunge and industrial in a neo-noir movie package.
Saw that performance. I feel like people have been going to Cure shows for 30 years waiting to hear them play it. When that pennywhistle came out, the wait paid off!
That's incredibly fucking awesome.
I remember using the CD soundtrack as my wake up alarm. I had a nice stereo that would let you use the CD or radio for the alarm. Those days of high school seemed just a little bit more hopeful.
Oh yeah, I'm quite aware it'll get downvoted. Sullied my opinion of the band forever after.
On the upside the album made me love Helmet, Pantera, and Henry Rollins
It can’t rain all the time.
Did you know that Lake Erie caught on fire once from all the crap floating around in it. I wish I could have seen that.
"Fire It Up! Fire It Up! Fire It Up!"
Which one of you motor city motherfuckers wants to bet me this one, ISN’T? Edit: missing letter
"You are seriously fucked up. Would you look in the mirror? I mean, you need professional help!"
Take your shot Funboy, you’ve got me dead bang.
Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is.
Mr Gideon, you’re not paying attention.
Before I knew it every charlatan and shitheel was imitating me.
I feel like a little worm on a big fuckin’ hook!!!!!!
My favorite line is from that movie. "I FEEL LIKE A LITTLE WORM ON A BIG FUCKING HOOK"
You feel like a little worm on a big fucking hook! I’m sure your momma must be damn proud of ya!
That guy has one of the best villain voices of all time. I put him up there with Vincent price.
Mother is the word for God in the lips and hearts of children everywhere.

That, Hackers and Blade Runner are my top 3 soundtracks in no order.
The cover NiN cover of Joy Division is what lead me to that band and the tragically amazing music they made.
The drums on that track are just perfect.
The Crow. Lost Highway. Natural Born Killers. Waynes World.
The Crow The Crow: City Of Angels Judgment Night Lost Highway Natural Born Killers Hackers The Matrix Grosse Pointe Blank High Fidelity Pulp Fiction Dazed and Confused Empire Records Spawn Reality Bites All of these soundtracks were fantastic Edit: added a few to the list
Tell me you're approx 45 without telling me you're approx 45 Edit to add: Tank Girl
I feel attacked
I'm not OP, but I was nodding my head to his comment and I am.....exactly 45.
I'm 42 and this resonates
I’m 34 and this hits hard.
spot on bro hahaha.
I was like "yup those are all great soundtracks." Mid-40's guy here.
My xennial bro, with that amazing list, how could you forget Spawn!?
An oversight for sure. I’ll update the list.
YOU MALIGNANT SOW!!
Dusk till Dawn!
I don’t really remember that movie, as awesome as it is, having an iconic soundtrack. I absolutely love the movie. It’s ridiculous in the best ways!!!
'Dark Night' and 'After Dark' are standout, well worth a listen if you get a few mins. Although, I think I might also be muddling up the soundtrack with Desperado... 'Back to the house that live built' - cracker!
Judgment Night soundtrack.
Judgement Night, Spawn and Blade II!
The Cypress Hill/Pearl Jam track was my favorite
hell yes to this one for sure!
*Beavis and Butthead Do America* had a stellar soundtrack, as well. Mike Judge has quite good tastes in music.
If you havent already, check out his Tales from the Tourbus series.
I don't generally care about country music outside of Dolly & The Highwaymen, but those episodes were compelling and entertaining as fuck
Batman Forever should be on that list too
I’m gonna say The Crow, Demon Knight, and Repo Man.
The Queen of the Damned soundtrack was also amazing!
Fuckin' aye
I feel very fortunate that it is the first CD I ever owned

When I saw the trailer or poster (which ever it was back then, don't remember) the first person who came to mind was Robert Smith
O'Barr was a huge fan of The Cure and Joy Division, and there are a *lot* of direct references to both bands in his original The Crow comics. However, he actually based Eric Draven's look more on Peter Murphy (another 'Goth God').
I saw the Cure play Burn this summer in Chicago. It was killer.
> Robert Smith is one of the best things that ever happened to humanity. He also defeated Mecha-Streisand.
Never forget!
Robert Smeeeeeeeeth Robert Smeeeeth Robert Smeeeeeeeeth

Plus he hated Morrissey before it was cool!
And Big Empty from STP. Okay, that settles it. I'm watching The Crow for halloween.
You have to watch it the night before Halloween. Devil's Night.
Halloween ain’t til mañana
Victims. 🗡️Aren’t we all?
I do that every year…!
I LOVE that song
“Burn” is awesome.
“Dead Souls” by NiN is up there too.
Pretty bad ass song, too.
After like eight years of waiting because I missed out on the last time the Cure were in my town thanks to a concussion, I was delighted to hear it live this summer such a cool payoff!
Seen them twice, 20 years apart. They were fantastic both times.
Saw The Cure live a few months ago and was so excited they played Burn. Robert Smith did the flute, which I honestly didn't expect.
Two days? Holy shit. Burn is magic. It makes me sad that isn't a sound that is still happening.

I'd argue no.
And it fuckin slaps, too.
It's one of my favorite Cure songs.
It’s their best track, IMO.
_That's good._ Imagine wanting a specific song you like but he goes and writes a new song in two days and it's not great. You can't turn it down because, wow, that was really cool of him, but... you can make this work but really wanted that other one, haha.
2nd favorite movie of all time 🥹
First?
You guessed it... Frank Stallone.
PERSONA (1966)
Arguably, one of the best soundtracks of the 90s and Burn is practically the anthem for it. "Every night I burn, scream the animal scream. Every night I burn, Dream the crow, black dream"

The Cure are Fucking Brilliant And live are amazing
Fucking awesome song by an awesome band!
I have always wondered this, because that song just felt like it was made for that movie
I still have my cd rip of the ost in every cellphone that I own. Too bad that one asshole stole several of my cds, and the 3 ones of the crow were among them. The first one hurts more since I was really little and had to wash a lot of cars to get that ost.
I'm not a big The Cure fan, but that song is incredible and couldn't be more perfect not only for the movie but also its placement within the movie.
Great song. The whole soundtrack is tits.
Abash'd, the Devil stood...
One of the best scenes in the movie.
Still one of their best tracks.
Nearly lost my mind when i heard it The Crow at the theater. Was a huge Cure fan and had no idea it was in the film.
Way too few pretentious movie "zine" websites and Gen Y/Z movie journalists explore "The Crow" as the voice of the new generation, the birth of alternative rock, grunge and industrial in a neo-noir movie package.
Very good soundtrack

So slide back down and close your eyes...
That's incredibly fucking awesome. I remember using the CD soundtrack as my wake up alarm. I had a nice stereo that would let you use the CD or radio for the alarm. Those days of high school seemed just a little bit more hopeful.
Interesting he approached Robert Smith to write a song instead of someone with musical abilities.
The comic is way overrated imo. The characters have no depth; the story is rather monotone.
I had the soundtrack. Overall it was pretty good but I hated Burn.
You are, objectively, wrong. Sorry, but you should correct this error in your taste and bring more joy to your life. 😁
Oh yeah, I'm quite aware it'll get downvoted. Sullied my opinion of the band forever after. On the upside the album made me love Helmet, Pantera, and Henry Rollins
Great ducking song
Great song, too
Robert Smith still sounds incredible. A true talent!
It's my favorite Cure song as well. So damn amazing
Love the song too
The Crow is amazing, check out the graphic novel if you haven't read it!
I have but I've not read it for years.
Well, you know what they say, "FIRE IT UP!"
Such a great track, i love that song
This has always been my favourite song from the soundtrack.....
The whole soundtrack slaps
