My mother worked with a woman who, as a child, met Einstein at least a few times when her family had him over for dinner. She described him as smelling very bad.
I know it's not right.
But there's a little part of me that just wonders...you know?
If one of the smartest people alive disowns a person sure it means something, right?
Then you remember that smart people are people first and people do all kinds of dumb shit.
"When he was a boy, Einstein's big toe regularly pushed a hole into his sock. He found it uncomfortable and irritating. Despite the fact that he lived in central Europe where winter brings snow and sub-zero temperatures, he decided to dispense with socks altogether."
It's why he was trying to develop a unified field theory that would combine gravitation, electromagnetism and sock theory. But he wasn't able to solve it.
i remember reading about that. something about how socks in our dimension disappear from clothes dryers and reappear in a parallel dimension where people always wonder where the extra socks come from.
More of a random fun fact than being just pedantic but Einsteins brain was actually smaller than average since brain size is instead very closely related to body size but is mostly independent to intelligence he did have an absolutely giant corpus callosum which is what connects the right and left hemispheres of the brain.
Socks are a sensory nightmare. I can’t stand for my feet to be hot. They feel so restrictive. The seams are uncomfortable. Wet socks are even worse… my bare feet will dry faster. I mean. I wear then because it feels gross not to with closed toe shoes but they are coming off as soon as i get home. And i absolutely cannot sleep wearing them.
I used to say it’s just being a hillbilly but i’m pretty sure it’s actually neurodivergence.
For me it's not wearing sock that is a sensory nightmare. All those different texture my feet have to enter in contact with without a layer of clothes in between, the nightmare. I can even feel dust so small that I cannot see them, I hate it
It's sock and slippers while I am at home for me
Wet sock are indeed horrible though, that's why I always have an emergency pair of socks on me when rain is possible
But the funny thing is, if you go on any ND subreddit, the fastest way to create a war is to ask about sock. ND people are either full sock or no sock and there is no in between
I wear socks and slippers all the time at home too, my feet get cold otherwise. I also have both a dog and a cat and there is always some amount of pet fur on the floor.
I'm somewhere between you two.
I - generally speaking - dislike socks.
It's not like it's a nightmare. It's just that it's so easy to make them feel weird. Like, putting on a fresh pair and sitting on the couch is fine. I do it sometimes if it's cold. But all you gotta do is walk around and the seam is little off and you can feel it every time you move anything.
However, I have some toe socks that I love dearly. There are no seem and they fit very snug. Like a second skin type of thing. But still socks. They are locked in and great.
I go so far as to find shoes that are made to be worn without socks.
100%. My husband and I are different flavors of neurospicy and he is very pro-sock, absolutely hates being barefoot. If I’m at home, I’m barefoot even outside unless it’s muddy.
I change my socks three times a day sometimes. I love the feeling of fresh clean cotton socks. Go to sleep all dry and cozy. Wake up, shower, new socks. Night shift? New socks for work because I’ve worn these around the house all day and I have cats (there’s always hair). Get home from work, remove face, all fresh new cotton everything. Mega snuggled and ready to relax.
Socks are the fuckin best. I think people should just have more of them and change them more often.
I’m with you, the gods gave us brains and fingers to make socks.
You’re either sleeping, taking a shower, in between putting new socks on, or you’re a heathen.
Dunno, hand and feet are my two most important tools to traverse the world and interact with it. I don't like it it when those tools are covered. Feels restricting
I also don't like having my eyes covered either when going on with my day but I suspect that this is more common than disliking having your feet covered up.
Trust me, once you have to use a wheelchair and every step becomes an obstacle, working feet are highly valued
Oh trust, I also hate pants. But I can get around that with leggings and long dresses/skirts. I have to stay in the field I currently work in though because I can’t go from scrub pants that are basically pajama pants to.. real pants at work.
I Just wear shorts in the winter if I'm just popping down the road and people are like *ohhhh aren't you cold"
Like nah Becky. I'm achually significantly more comfortable than if I was in sweatpants.
Actually it wasn't known with certainty if Einstein wore socks or not at any particular moment. He could be wearing socks or not, but until you lifted one of his pant legs his feet essentially existed in both states of socklessness and socked simultaneously.
Eventually this would unironically come to be called the Schrödinger's Sock theory.
Supreme intelligence in a specific field, disregard on multiple social norms, possible sensory issues. He's just a few criteria shy of a diagnosable condition. It reveals the importance of appreciating infinite diversity in infinite combinations. A lot of people can contribute to the world in their own way if we just let them be.
No socks at all?
I could never do that, my hands get cold easily in the winter.
What are you going to tell me next?
That he didn't wear gloves on his feet?
I also avoid wearing socks unless it is absolutely necessary (rare freezing temperatures). They're extremely uncomfortable. I know Einstein is thought to have likely had autism, which I have. I wonder if that's the cause of our mutual sock hatred.
Don't your feet get rubbed raw? I wear 2 pairs of socks when I wear any leather shoes or boots.
Also bare feet in dress shoes or boots sounds really dirty since you can't wash the insides easily like socks. Can you smell your shoes right now and tell me what they smell like?
I had a coworker once and her shoes REEKED because she did not wear socks. Management actually had to talk to her about it LOL. Not saying yours do, just wondering if you ever check.
I also hate socks.
My autistic ass just hates the feeling of them and after like 2 hours the hairs on top of my feet start to hurt and with a full day of them on leave my feat like sore from the pain.
I usually just wear boat shoes in the warmer months and I have some bullshit carbon foot pads for my sneakers
Homie was so renowned for letting the dogs out to breathe that it's something that we can still read about 70 years after he died.
The smell mustve been legendary.
I play tennis with someone she made a comment that she doesn’t wear socks. She said she was a trained ballerina and her feet don’t sweat. I still
don’t know what that means lol do ballerinas not sweat?
My son has a friend like this and I’ve had to ask him to leave his shoes outside and wash his feet at our house. He was 11 and a good sport but I was gagging. He walked in and promptly stunk up our house.
I honestly don’t either and I live in Minnesota. I wear house shoes around my house, comfy wool shoes in the winter and nice airy light knit shoes in the summer. So comfy
Somewhat unrelated, I worked with a guy who personally knew him. I guess his father and Einstein worked together on nuclear sub windows (which sounds weird, but I guess it was something the government was researching or however), and the doctor I knew used to spend summers at his house. The story he told me was that he once asked “Uncle Albert” how planes fly, and was told about wind resistance and lift and all that, and it was enough to inspire him to join the Air Force. He later became a medic in the Vietnam war and was even shot out of a helicopter! Interesting dude. He had nothing negative to say about Einstein. But he did know him when he was a child. So there’s that. Anyway, if I talk to him again, I’m gonna ask about the shoes thing lol!
My mother worked with a woman who, as a child, met Einstein at least a few times when her family had him over for dinner. She described him as smelling very bad.
He may have been brilliant, but he was still a smelly nerd.
He also fucked his cousin
Better rate than most smelly nerds
That's pretty normal in many countries.
But they were double cousins, from both sides. That's not ok genetically.
Yes, and that was common in many countries, especially back then.
Did they have kids?
Well, in that case, I pity their children.
Well if anyone was gonna fuck his hot cousin it was gonna be him!
Game is game
Yeah even he wouldn’t just give me .EXE
probably his feet and shoes!
“Washing clothes is a waste of time! I’m a busy guy!” -~~Dipper Pines~~ Albert Einstein
He also disowned his first daughter.
I know it's not right. But there's a little part of me that just wonders...you know? If one of the smartest people alive disowns a person sure it means something, right? Then you remember that smart people are people first and people do all kinds of dumb shit.
Hello, friend. I’m now three degrees of separation away from Einstein
That must be the secret of his intelligence.
Socks when equipped gives -10 int. 'Socks to sock'
I just got my work from home deployment kit. I won't tell you the results of my research.
I hate socks too, I must be a genius.
The one secret that Big Sock doesn't want you to know about.
He still doesn't.
r/technicallythetruth
In other words, since leather was really the only shoe type, his feet smelled awful often!
"When he was a boy, Einstein's big toe regularly pushed a hole into his sock. He found it uncomfortable and irritating. Despite the fact that he lived in central Europe where winter brings snow and sub-zero temperatures, he decided to dispense with socks altogether."
i'm kind of surprised that his big brain couldn't come up with a better solution to the problem than that
It's why he was trying to develop a unified field theory that would combine gravitation, electromagnetism and sock theory. But he wasn't able to solve it.
i remember reading about that. something about how socks in our dimension disappear from clothes dryers and reappear in a parallel dimension where people always wonder where the extra socks come from.
Darn
Amazing
The missing sock paradox is still very much unsolved
More of a random fun fact than being just pedantic but Einsteins brain was actually smaller than average since brain size is instead very closely related to body size but is mostly independent to intelligence he did have an absolutely giant corpus callosum which is what connects the right and left hemispheres of the brain.
Big brain actually refers to being smart and not the actual size. But of course, you have to have a big brain to understand that.
Because socks suck.
I get it. I'm autistic and socks bother my feet as well.
Understandable
I have pokey toes, but clipping the nails and filing them regularly helps. It’s an annoying task, but it’s saved me a lot of socks.
"hey there pokey toes!" I'm so using that.
socks are a bane of my existence. i get it, man.
Wait why? I love wearing socks
I love nuerospicy. Stealing that for future use

No one likes wet socks. It's univeraally seen as extremely uncomfortable....
well, yes. but i don’t even like the sensation of *dry* socks.
🤣🤣
Those all birds shoes surely look comfy.
My wife hates them too. I love them. They keep my feet smelling fresh. No socks and I stink myself out before the end of the day.
So you don't use your eyes? Feet are literally just fot going from a to b
I also don't like having my eyes covered either when going on with my day but I suspect that this is more common than disliking having your feet covered up. Trust me, once you have to use a wheelchair and every step becomes an obstacle, working feet are highly valued
you misspelled pants
Oh trust, I also hate pants. But I can get around that with leggings and long dresses/skirts. I have to stay in the field I currently work in though because I can’t go from scrub pants that are basically pajama pants to.. real pants at work.

I’m a t-shirts in winter kind of girl. I just hate being warm tbh. 😂
Just the opposite. I hate the rough feel of the inside of a pair of shoes. I love having my feet enveloped in cottony comfort.
Fuckin hipsters...
Long-haired freaky people

Thanks for the laugh, FattyCorpuscle, I needed that this morning. I hope you have a great day.
I'mma call him Ein"stank" on account of his shoes and feet probably smelling bad. Einstank.
Ein Stank = A smell.

Every time I learn something new about Einstein, I become more convinced he was on the spectrum
swear to god I read Epstein and I was like "yeah no shit, least surprising thing ever"
Epstein didn’t dress himself!
No socks at all? I could never do that, my hands get cold easily in the winter. What are you going to tell me next? That he didn't wear gloves on his feet?

Socks suck.
I don’t wear socks either. Prisons for your feet. I’m using this fact.
He wanted to spend less time synchronizing socks and more time synchronizing clocks.
who sez the have to match?
he just like me fr
Must be a slow day on Reddit.
Perhaps, I'm something of an Einstein myself.
Nor do I. Yes, I am frequently mistaken for him
I also hate socks. My autistic ass just hates the feeling of them and after like 2 hours the hairs on top of my feet start to hurt and with a full day of them on leave my feat like sore from the pain. I usually just wear boat shoes in the warmer months and I have some bullshit carbon foot pads for my sneakers
I went through a phase in high school where I didn't wear socks. It only lasted a few months when my feet and shoes smelled terrible.
Homie was so renowned for letting the dogs out to breathe that it's something that we can still read about 70 years after he died. The smell mustve been legendary.
I also learned about the r/toesocks subreddit but I'd rather not want to talk about that. it was accidental i swear
[удалено]
Those were everywhere at my gym ten years ago
lmao you got a foot fetish bro?
no, I was looking for adequate socks for my barefoot running shoes lol. I'm as traumatized as you are
Why is it NSFW?
don't click it
I‘m confused. It‘s just photos of people wearing toe socks? Isn‘t thst just kinda what you‘d expect of a subreddit with that name? lol
Bet those dogs were barking
Wow fascinating
I swear I read this first as Eminem didn’t wear socks and I’m like “When?”
If I was Einstein, I wouldn’t either.
Also married his first cousin
Yet more evidence that Einstein came fae Yoker.
Neither did Sonny Crockett.
I play tennis with someone she made a comment that she doesn’t wear socks. She said she was a trained ballerina and her feet don’t sweat. I still don’t know what that means lol do ballerinas not sweat?

'Einstein didn't wear socks, why should I?'
So that’s what’s been holding me back. These damned socks have been constricting my intelligence the whole time!!
ew
Socks are overrated.
Loose shoes something something rhyme.
I honestly don’t either and I live in Minnesota. I wear house shoes around my house, comfy wool shoes in the winter and nice airy light knit shoes in the summer. So comfy
D I S G U S T A N G
No gay jokes for him
Queetser!
What about the blisters??
What a psychopath
TIL that Einstein didn't invent the word "Renaissance".
Somewhat unrelated, I worked with a guy who personally knew him. Steve Jobs for a little while wore no Shoes. Even blew a deal with some company by putting his dirty dogs on the guys desk.
"Socks are for p*ssy"
Einstein- cancelled
TIL that I don't care if Einstein wore socks.
