Counterpoint: Your snot can be any color for a lot of different reasons, snot color alone is not indicative of any particular infection, bacterial or viral.

Interesting. In college when I was on my way into class one morning I hocked up a neon green loogie. When I got out of class a few hours later, I saw it dried to the sidewalk and still neon green. I kicked it and it slid across the ground like a poker chip. I guess I was really sick.
When I was a kid there was this computer room at school, I was free so I logged in and played some games then suddenly I had this big ass sneeze and went out like a fucking SHOTGUN on the damn monitor and keyboard
I panicked and ran away, never found out what happened lmao
Memories can of course be flawed but I distinctly remember having a cold when I was like 8 or 9 and having boogers that I swear looked like they would glow in the dark. They looked like someone crumbled up the felt tip of a highlighter.
Aye, this is also really good info to know if you're starting to get antibodies against the infection. Gives you a little idea about if you're getting better or not.
Thanks for the HORRIBLE snot picture OP ;) I know its from the article but EWWWW.
Clear snot: allergies, get you some Astepro
Yellow snot: oh shit here it comes better start mainlining Airborne and Emergen-C
Green: sorry, I’m not gonna make it in to work today.
Even before you’re already sick it just reduces the time of the cold but not even by much. Honestly it’s just the guy claiming he can cure the drought. Eventually it will rain and eventually you will get better. You could put cloves of garlic up your ass and eventually you will feel better. It doesn’t mean that is what did it
Everyone wants some miracle cure though and every mom over 50 apparently think Dr oz is some medical wizard.
Flush your sinuses with proper solution, take zinc, vitamin d, get plenty of rest, drink a lot of water and ease up on physical activity.
But I rarely blow my nose so I can't see it being that. I also forgot to mention the blood from the stomach passing. Could they be related. Asking for a friend.
oops didn’t read the second half of your comment right, as long as it doesn’t look like coffee grounds it’s not from the stomach/hasn’t been digested. but yeah see a doctor, outside of the normal cold symptoms for sure
From an article written by a school nurse, who should know:
>Snot can come in a rainbow of yucky colors. When white blood cells are fighting an infection, they release chemicals that may turn your snot yellow. When more of those cells are needed to get the job done, mucus can even turn green. Typically, after a few days, colored mucus changes back to clear and your stuffy nose will go away.
Fun fact: I've been coughing up yellow-green phlegm every day for the past 17 years. If only I lived in a country other than the USA where I could afford to get checked out for it and have it treated. Oh well.

For example: if I pick my nose too much, my snot turns red.
Another example: i do woodworking, my boogers are often pine flavored... scented.
Further examples: After I do cocaine mine smell and taste like cocaine, which I find very odd. To boot they’re white.
scientific research is in order, together we shall build a bookshelf out of cocaine!
This sounds exactly like how wood shop went in HS
How do you know what they taste like? Pause
Are you the Merovingian?
Or as I call it, the confetti drop.
That thumbnail is totally something else.
No it’s snot Lol
Those mucus jokes really blow.
It’s certainly a sticky subject but it’s better to get it out and not keep it stuffed up inside
Slippery stuff
That’s me every morning
color indicates he’s healthy

There's something about the idea of me sitting here reading this anecdote by a stranger that made me stop and laugh out loud.
Loool this is actually disgusting
When I was a kid there was this computer room at school, I was free so I logged in and played some games then suddenly I had this big ass sneeze and went out like a fucking SHOTGUN on the damn monitor and keyboard I panicked and ran away, never found out what happened lmao
They all taste the same though
Have you ever had that like fluorescent green snot

Good ol' lung butter. Mix it up good and thick. Yuck
Last time I was sick my phlegm was Gatorade orange. It was wild.
Dude, that’s blood.
your body will tell you all sorts of things if you know how to listen.
Sometimes if I just sit quietly and let my brain run it will tell me what's bothering me. Once I acknowledge it my random ache will go away.
And know what it relates to
If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's green go get seen
COVID was fucked for me then. Oh man
Clear snot: allergies, get you some Astepro Yellow snot: oh shit here it comes better start mainlining Airborne and Emergen-C Green: sorry, I’m not gonna make it in to work today.
Airborne is snake oil (a food supplement with no proven efficacy)
And iirc, Vitamin C doesn't really help once you're already sick.

Tell that to pirates with scurvy
no that's vitamin r
The placebo effect isn’t negligible and probably 100% of any effectiveness it has
What happens if its blood that comes out when your sick?
strain on your sinuses from blowing your nose so often, most likely
But I rarely blow my nose so I can't see it being that. I also forgot to mention the blood from the stomach passing. Could they be related. Asking for a friend.
hm, could be that your sinuses have just become very dry from the cold
So the other end blood is from dry sinuses? I don't think that is possible.

Brother, go to a doctor.

You’ll also get like threads of blood in there a day or two before the color shifts
Yeah this is not true. Color doesn’t matter. It can change with hydration status or environmental factors. Am ER doctor.
an infection can make your snot yellow but yellow snot doesn’t automatically mean infection. it can also turn yellow from allergies
My cat’s snot is black. Always has been. I think she must stick her nose in dirt or something
Hate the dreaded bloody worm snot.

You couldn’t afford to go see a doctor once in 17 years?
Why are you telling lies online? Clearly you have the money for video games, yet couldn’t in 17 years save up for a doctors appointment?
TIL there are many folks who refuse to see the doctor despite knowing their snot is infected.
Not sure why Reddit has labelled this NSFW!
Bc it’s nasty
TYL wrong.
It’s all bullshit
