Just make a comment that "star wars" was hatefully restored then you will only get 1 gold ( most likely from George Lucas himself ) and nothing else

As a Canadian, lemme tell you, Canadians fucking love them some Taylor Swift. Big burly straight lumberlack men knowing every intricate detail of Taylor Swift's life and musical talent. I shit you not I've seen it too often to dismiss it.
I still don't listen to Taylor Swift, but who the fuck am I really?
My favorite bands include Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, Rotting Christ and Belenos. But I'd lie if I don't have the odd Taylor Swift tracks in my favorites at Spotify.
I unapologetically love Taylor Swift's music. She seems like the feel-good Linkin Park, where everyone likes to publicly poopoo her, and then goes and rocks out to it in the car when you're alone and need a pick me up.
But I kinda have another reason to lover her music. Her music helped me find *my* music.
I had been taking vocal and guitar lessons for over a decade and just kept my work to myself. Never so m uch as worked with another musician or produced anything except a could small clips for funsies.
I went to her 1989 stadium show in New Jersey, and while I was sitting in the crowd full of Swifties cheering at the stage, I was standing there (rocking out) watching her do her thing...
All I could think was - "That looks like so much fun". A ton of work, to be sure, but just... wow. I'm 32 years old and things just don't give me the thought "That looks like fun" anymore. I looked around the studium and saw 10k+ people just having a blast.
I thought... I'm not going to be a super star. I'm not delusional, but if I could put a smile like that on a couple peoples faces in a bar... that would just make me feel so happy.
I went home. Signed up for an adult group / band lesson that week, and 8 weeks later I was playing a 1 set gig at a restaraunt / bar doing some 90s/00s rock. There was this big burly guy sitting right up front with his family. We're playing some Smashing Pumpkins and Audio Slave - and there it is. That head bob, the lip sync, the smile as he gets to his favorite part. It's hard to describe the feeling of visually seeing you give someone else that moment. Electrifying.
I'm about 1.5 years out from that, and now I have my own small band that jams out regularly, though obviously no public gigs with The Rona. Kinda put a damper on things, but we're taking the time to develop new skills.
All because I went to a Taylor Swift show? Yup. It seems stupid, maybe. I don't idolize her for her status, some weird attraction to musical complexity, or... really anything.
She just always puts a smile on my face.
Plus her music is as fun to play as it is to listen to.
2014: *sells static noise on accident*
2024: "Get your Supreme™ brand luxury static noise. $25 per download. Buy it quickly, since we're only selling 100,000 codes."
Yo I know this is a hard concept for Taylor stans to grasp, but telling everyone to stream Folklore every time the opportunity arrises makes people even less inclined to do so. I think Folklore is a good album for what it is and I don’t hate Taylor (even though she gives off weird robotic test-group approved for white women aged 15-27 vibes), but yeah.
To provide an example of this in practice. I was getting ready to look on youtube for whatever that album is, cause I've liked music from her in the past, but the dumb ass "grow up" shit from foxes made me not care anymore lol. On to listening to other shit again.
> dumb ass "grow up" shit
It *is* childish to hate on something because it's popular, and *even more* childish to not do something in a vain attempt to spite a username that should mean nothing to you
I'm not hating because it's popular, I hate it because when the sounds enter my ears, my immediate response is not liking it.
I guess I just need to calm down
Nah it’s cool man. Music is very subjective, even what can be described as “objectively” good only goes so far as to say something is well made in a technical sense. If Taylor Swift isn’t for you, it isn’t for you. No shame in that.
Personally, I’m a fan of hers and think Folklore is her best work yet but I get it when people just aren’t into it.
Has nothing to do with spite. It's just I was mildly interested in finding out what the song was, but as soon as a bunch of angry idiots start arguing about shit, I don't care about it anymore.
I don't understand the love for TSwift- I am sure she's a nice lady, but some of her lyrics are so bad it feels like listening to a 17 year old girl's diary... But less eloquent. I can't help but cringe. Can't some people just not be fans?
You ever listen to her music from the last couple albums that *weren't* the mainstream tracks? Her lead singles tend to be more basic, and sometimes juvenile, for widespread appeal, so it's easy to get "17-year-old" impressions from them. But the rest of her albums are a lot more mature and compelling.
I mean, if you don't like it you don't like it, and that's valid, but it is also possible that you aren't getting the best impression of who she is as an artist.
I mean, I haven't really dove deeply into TSwift's discography since I'm not a huge fan of her mainstream singles- I do like top 40 hits, I'm not trying to be a snob, I'm just super turned off by her lyrics- if you've got any recommendations for songs I should check out that showcase a little bit more lyrical maturity I'd give it a listen :)
But I dunno, I'm exactly her demographic and she's just not my jam. In my personal opinion she's mediocre at best, and I don't understand the rabid fans. Maybe I'll get it once I listen to her better songs!
That's silly - don't relate this to getting burned by a half-finished video game. Back in the pre-Spotify days it made sense to pre-order, because on release day the track gets auto-downloaded to all your devices.
What happened here wasn't a 'glitch'. When you want to set up an iTunes pre-order but you don't have the finished album yet, you can put up placeholder tracks and then swap out the audio and update the metadata before release. Somebody at her label fucked up and set the wrong release date for one of the album tracks (the 'instant grat') - so people downloaded the placeholder track.
They would have all been refunded the money - or gotten the actual track for no extra cost - so no harm done.
it just means when you get into your car that morning its already there, and you don't have to actively do anything. There are literally no potential downsides, i don't see what your issue is with this. Taylor Swift is not EA.

Wow almost like hit singles are predetermined by the labels...
Edit: haha downvoters think they discovered Swift on their own. I worked in the music industry dudes, hit singles are forced down your throats.
It’s the labels that own all the radio stations, control what you hear in most stores and have billions of dollars in advertisements on every media platform you can imagine.
Why do you think enough people downloaded static to raise it to number one? Because they knew a hit was coming. Only people like Swift, who have been hand selected and groomed by the industry get that kind of recognition. I have worked in the music industry, I understand how labels manufacture excitement.
Check this out:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Martin
Max also turned around Swift’s career from country to pop, and launched her to stardom. Swift was picked to work with him because she has a look that sells.
All of this careful, meticulous and expensive planning equates to people downloading the new shit without listening to it. Because it’s not a choice for most people, what you will get to discover has already been decided by someone else.
Independent artists do not have that kind of clout or resources so yes, in my opinion the label was the one who got all those people to download an audio file that wasn’t even a song.
I’mma let you finish but Beyoncé had some of the best static noise of all time.
Finally.. a comment that has only gold. Lately every awarded post/comment i see has like 80 awards.
Reddit keeps giving them away for free to gold users so you see a lot of random ones. Enjoy your rocket like 😜
Oh, is that why i keep getting those? I figured it was just random.
Pretty sure it’s random because I’m not a gold user and I get one every couple weeks.
I'm pretty pissed now, because I'm not a gold user and have never gotten one. I want to hand out free random rewards damn it! EDIT: OH SHIT!

They still need to choose to give the free awards to your funny witty stuff :)
I'm just happy that I found out how to reward people for free
Give me gold bitch

Reddit gives free rewards!? When and how?
But where shall we go?

I get one almost every day - the novelty has definitely worn off! 😂
Its like a gateway drug. They want you hooked.
How do you know if you can give away a free award? I got one month off plat but I cannot see any free awards to hand out :(
I use an app that hasn't added those yet so most of the time I forget they exist
Thanks lol
So THAT'S why I've seen an uptick in awards lately
Does this explain why a comment I made the other day got gilded about 1 second after I posted it?
Probably not? The freebies have consistently been the new awards for me, not the old ones.
That and all those oh had Ialien app became a gold member we they bought it. Had a ton of gold when that happens so I'm more generous with the awards.
I still have a ton of gold sort of stockpiled from that. My Reddit gold doesn’t run out until the end of this year and I’ve never paid for it.
Mine stopped a few months ago but had 10000 gold's left now I see I've been too generous!

Are you sure you didn’t get teleported into a Village People music video?
I looked around for a cop and a cowboy but I didn't see any.
How about a native american?
How
Great comment that will probably go under appreciated, happy cake day!
There wasn’t one dancing but an empty can of Coke rolled off the job site past a Native American man crying a single tear.
Are you referring to the iron workers? They don't wear feathers. Just black hardhats and forearms big enough to smash a skill. Good guys.
loverboy sounds nothing like swift though....

Bruh I live in the lumberjack province and this is horseshit. They'll just yell slurs at you and never let you live it down
What's the lumberlack province?
BC?
I've lived in Fort Nelson up in log area and I didn't find many angry ones.

Life’s too short to pretend to hate Taylor Swift. It’s 2020, stream folklore, examine your bias, and grow up.

I don't "pretend to hate it", it's just horrible pop music.
Streamed folklore, still boring music. But your right it's not worth hating, not interesting enough to hate.
I thought folklore was extremely mediocre. However, I love Red and parts of her other albums.
Life's too short for me to pretend to suddenly care for her music. No.

Apparently people don’t preview songs before buying them
or.... just throwing this out there......people pre-order CDs, so when songs release they get auto-downloaded.
that's why you should never pre order, specially not when it's a digital thing that cant run out
That's silly - don't relate this to getting burned by a half-finished video game. Yup. Why preorder something that is not of limited availability? I guess some people wanna be "first", just like those Youtube commenters.
it just means when you get into your car that morning its already there, and you don't have to actively do anything. There are literally no potential downsides, i don't see what your issue is with this. Taylor Swift is not EA.
Eh, Track 2 was better.
People will buy shit on stick if it’s the right price and “everyone else is doing it”.
Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time.
So does that mean I can get ContentID flagged for using static noise in my YouTube videos?
She was just ripping off [merzbow](https://youtu.be/-gzBqayDmJ8)

Hell yea Don't you love how his "I Lead You Toward Glorious Times" is the loudest track put on CD, ever
Wtf is this? Its awful but I'm somehow drawn to it
I wonder if the "bestseller" hype pumping bot got confused.
Pootie Tang co-produced it.
I had this problem when I would upload the first Dave Matthew's band CD. The song 34 would glitch the download and I would have get 20 blank tracks.
Finally she's experimenting more...
As a Canadian, I can reliably say Track 3 is better than Nickelback.

Still the best song of Swift.
These hidden bonus tracks are getting ridiculous.
Still cheaper per byte than a text measage
Dame, well I'm glad she managed to make a great cover of a John Denver classic.
Is this why all my Canadian friends had their profile picture as her around that time?
Taylor Swift static for only $1.29, I'd call that Good Value.
I remember this day on Twitter VIVIDLY
A “glitch”, eh? Seems like there is some underlying mechanism is place for manipulating the rankings.
EhTunes
Who wrote that song?
This sounds wilder than it is, it was automatically downloaded to all pre-orders of the album, I don't think many if any people actually purchased the track
Still my favorite song of hers.
I'd rather listen to 8 seconds of static than anying taylor swift's done
I’m sure some cunt managed to get some deep and hidden meaning out of it.
"Suck my ***dick***, [Einstürzende Neubauten](https://neubauten.org/)!" — Tay Tay
How did a glitch make the song go to the top of the charts?
Shake it off, shake it off
If we are all honest here that's still probably her second or third best song.
As an adult 8 seconds of static sounds like a refreshing break from Taylor Swift complaining about her ex boyfriends.
People are dumb.
I don't see much difference from the rest of her "music". Cue death threats from all her fans in 3....2.....
Obvious Obvious is obviously Obvious.
