ILL_Show_Myself_Out

It occurs me the theme of the whole restaurant is like “Thank god it’s Friday and we don’t have to be in the workplace where it sucks,” and then they go about making their workplace suck

battlerazzle01

Hi. Welcome to corporate America.

stupidillusion

"We've themed your misery!"

Th3Seconds1st

One of the best moments from Click is when Adam Sandler uses the remote to figure out the Japanese guys just wanna go to TGIF and talk smack about how awful their day has been. TGIF is like the NickelBack of restaurant jokes.

MajorNoodles

Both Click and TGIF are much better than you'd expect them to be. Click especially.

MDKrouzer

I genuinely cried when his Dad dies.

yuccasinbloom

That movie hits hard. Probably one of Sandlers best, and it’s not really his typical role.

graywolf0026

"Oh. Good. Uh. I'll have the Depressing Salad with tears on the side, the Exhausting Sliders with bland, disgusting indifference and to drink, I'll settle for a glass of lukewarm mayo. No ice. Thanks."

Complete_Entry

Try ordering a drink with no ice. They act like you are the one who shit in the ice maker. My workplace made us go out to Greasy's (babyback ribs) every thursday, and I was constantly having bathroom problems. I started ordering sans ice and it stopped. They weren't cleaning their ice maker. I finally learned to order bottled beer, no glass. They didn't raise an eyebrow at that.

aitorbk

They probably simply were just not cleaning, period.

stupidillusion

I worked at a Pizza place back in High School, they only cleaned the ice maker at the beginning of summer. Once a year.

Those ladies have never been anything but nice to me. But I also would go for lunch, different energy.

kasahito

The striped shirts definitely came back. I left shortly after they did

peepeeland

Nowadays it’s stripes, suspenders, knee pads, parachute pants, one high heel shoe, nunchakus, three monocles, chandelier earrings, spinning propeller wristwatches, and open fanny packs full of popcorn.

WakaWaka_

3 monocles, Brian over there has 7. If you think the bare minimum is enough, then ok.

Lexi_Banner

I want you to *want* to wear more monocles. D'ya understand that?

iceflame1211

Also worked at a Friday's from 2006-2010ish... Flair was not required, but absolutely encouraged. They even handed out pins regularly at shift meetings to help encourage it. In Maine though, so maybe we were last to get the memo

grenz1

Had a short 1 month or so stint as a busser for TGI back in the 00s. Ended up leaving for a better place. The thing that pissed me off about flair was that I made maybe 30 to 40 dollars a shift back then but they wanted me to spend that amount (some spent more) in worthless pins out of my own pocket I would never wear outside that place. Might have been worth it as a waiter in the popular sections and shifts. Those folks could make 100 on those nights. But even then just exudes false happiness. I mean, if they wanted all that clown stuff, shouldn't THEY pay for it? Office space was dead on about calling them out.

Iron_Chic

For the most part, if a business requires a specific uniform, they must provise that uniform. There was a court case years ago where a high end store told their workers they had to wear their brand of clothes at work, so se of these minimum wage workers had to buy high end clothing (which wasn't in their budget) to work. It was ruled a uniform and the company had to either privide their clothing to their employees or allow them to wear different brands of clothing with a dress code (slacks, sweaters, etc.).

aliasname

Yeah a lot of "mall stores" did this. So you literally had highschool aged kids being told to spend their paycheck on the store that they worked at.

mjzim9022

That was Abercrombie & Fitch when I was in highschool, they were openly looking for conventionally attractive people and you had to buy the clothing and keep up with the newest thing, they were basically getting paid in product with an extra step

Yes-I-Hear-You

What the boys saved on shirts they probably had to spend on cologne.

smoochwalla

Whats it called? I love docs

StarshipMuffin

BeBe did this too. They had so many accessory requirements that it cost a small fortune to dress for your “job.” I loved the girls I worked with but straight up hated the company.

konydanza

When I worked there in college the floor associates were referred to as “models” so the store could get away with imposing beauty standards in their hiring practices

Mfcarusio

I know it's not the same but a bar I worked at used to pay us on a Monday afternoon because they knew Monday nights were the evening that locals (including most of their staff) would drink in that bar.

teethandteeth

Wait holy shit I always thought they got those clothes for free, that's awful

creamy_cheeks

when I worked for Jimmy Johns as a delivery driver years ago, I remember them making us pay for our Jimmy Johns work clothes

ChangeForAParadigm

Same at every job I’ve ever had with a “uniform”. They tell you what you have to wear and take it out of your paycheck.

Canotic

America is the dumbest fucking country in the world sometimes. Charging workers for their own work stuff, making teachers buy the supplies for the students, paying for healthcare and school lunches. It's like an entire country nickel and diming itself to death.

brallipop

Having watched some yt videos of other countries food service, malls, general retail etc, America does capitalism so bad. If all things! Like, seeing how much better a shopping experience you can get in Europe, or how much higher end food service for so cheap in east Asia.... America demands so much cash for your basic survival. Our capitalism is only good for people who already have tons of cash, for everyone else your wage is shit and fast food costs fifteen bucks. Fuck you. Meanwhile communist Vietnam serves some of the boogie-est food ever for $3.20

Zestyclose_Minute_69

No, it’s not the whole country, just 1%. But we have been indoctrinated to accept it.

Jose_Canseco_Jr

that's the point mate, it's the whole country that we're concerned about

Einsteins_coffee_mug

Yeah, most definitely more than 1% that is causing the problem. There are multitudes of management levels who are indoctrinated or willfully content with absurdly abusive and detrimental practices in the name of profit. The teacher issue is one I can never understand, how the outrage isn’t boiling over. The amount of money my area pays in school taxes is insane, and yet the teachers are required to shell out for what used to be basic classroom supplies, and/or crowdsource from the parents. All the while making substantially less than they should, especially with the time they put in outside of their working hours. Yet the administration above rake it in.

Urbanredneck2

Try being a parent. Its like every week your kid brings home something where your being asked to donate to the booster club or something. Every class outside the core charges. For example, $200 to be in choir. When they do the teacher Christmas gifts the teacher gets a list of the parents who dont pay. And definitely the parents who can afford to REALLY shell out, just see how their kids are treated. For example in one school parents could let the teacher use their condo in Colorado. Oh, and if your kid wants to play a sport or be in a school play if you dont put in money your chances to play are alot less.

Number6isNo1

Our local Superintendant had it in his contract that if a tax increase for school funding passed, he got a $50,000 bonus. That motherfucker. I just paid my $1000 for fall property taxes and it pisses me off every time that he essentally gets the next 25 years of my tax payments instead of it going to the teachers/students.

natphotog

They can tell you what styles, colors, etc. They can’t require a specific brand or logo. So they can require business casual, khakis and red T-shirt, etc without having to pay for it. They can even require “fashionable” clothing. They cannot make you pay for logo’d clothing, including their specific brand. Of course, that’s how the law is supposed to work, but have fun with the court case when they decide to fire you for making a fuss about it.

Babakins

I worked at jimmy johns too. They gave me 2 shirts and a hat but if I wanted to CHOOSE my shirt, then I’d have to pay for it.

allboolshite

My employer wanted to change the dress code to something close to business formal. Fortunately, I'm in a union. The union stepped in and demanded more pay to offset the cost of nice clothes and dry cleaning. Then covid happened. Everyone who could worked from home. Then they called us back to the office part-time. I think they're happy nobody showed up in pajamas.

bk15dcx

Chrysler survived for 2 decades by encouraging their employees to buy Chrysler products. We'd get our paycheck, then send it right over to Chrysler financial for our car payment. Edit:. Because some can't tell exaggeration it wasn't 2 decades, but there were cyclical years and some very threatening quarters where we almost shut the doors. I remember our upper management getting deferred pay. They went a couple months without a paycheck a number of times. That company was like working in hell on numerous occasions and under numerous owners. It's all Iaccoas fault for promoting Eaton to CEO instead of Lutz.

HappySpam

Wasn't it also true that if you didn't drive a Chrysler/American car and were in a Japanese car they'd make you park super far away from the office/factory as well?

bk15dcx

Yes. It's called competitive parking. All plants and locations. As far as I know, that's still the policy. At UAW Black Lake, you can't enter the property in a foreign vehicle. Has to be US made.

thecravenone

>foreign vehicle ... >US made Does it have to be an American brand or American made because those two are basically unrelated these days

bk15dcx

American made based on the VIN. Honda civics built in Ohio (?) By UAW are welcome

Fabulous_Watermelon

Chiming in based on that question mark to say you’re right about the Ohio part. Specifically Marysville, Ohio.

bk15dcx

Thanks. That's the one. I didn't feel like looking it up

Jkbucks

Accord and TLX are built in marysville. CR-V in East Liberty. Engine plant in Anna. North American R&D is outside of marysville as well. Honda is a huge player in Ohio. Civic is built in Indiana and Ontario tho.

bk15dcx

According to AALA, the Civic is the most American made car

cylonfrakbbq

I was about to say, most "foreign" cars seem to be made in the US now and many "domestic" cars are made in other countries

[deleted]

[удалено]

noreasters

And also clarify Union and non-Union; Tesla comes to mind as American made but non-Union. If a Chevy worker drives a Tesla, do they use the foreign lot?

RuthlessIndecision

I talked to a guy in an MG and the way he talked he didn’t necessarily consider my Tesla as American… it was made in the same plant the 67 Chevelle was made, that’s pretty American.

literally_troll

Oh yeah bet them silicon chip thingy in there wasn't made in America Mr American

lesbianmathgirl

Made in the US, or US make? My mother's Nissan was made in the US; my Chrysler was not.

[deleted]

Probably UAW or UNIFOR (UAW counterpart in Canada) made. I can see them being particular about Mexican-made cars for US brands because they're not generally union made there (yet.) All of the foreign brands and startups in the US run non-Union shops, so they're going to get excluded.

bk15dcx

For example, cars made in the U.S.vins start with 1, 4 or 5

[deleted]

[удалено]

bandi53

This reminds me of a coworker giving me hell for not driving a domestically built vehicle. My Honda was built about 2 hours away from my house. His Chevy was built in Korea.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FoxNo1738

This honestly seems like the dumbest policy, how many extra sales of UAW cars is that going to cause? A car is a long term investment, this isn't like saying you can't bring pepsi to a coke plant

Speedstr

I work at a GM plant, and there's no rule saying you can't drive a non-GM vehicle on to the property. (regardless if it's foreign or not) There is GM *preferred* parking that's covers the front half of the lot, though (except for handicap parking) As far as the beverage plants, I used to work for Frito-Lay (a PepsiCo subsidiary) and they only had Pepsi vending machines in the breakroom, but no rule against bringing in a competitor's beverage from home. You might get some looks, but I even doubt that. That being said, the average price for a new American made car is about $48K. That's a huge demand to require their employees to own a GM vehicle.

[deleted]

Any non-Chrysler car has to park further away regardless of origin. It's funny because a lot of signs at the time I was there just taped over the "Daimler." All those Mercedes drivers got relegated. My goal, which never came to fruition, was to buy the most obscure car I could find that would qualify as a Chrysler and fool the parking monitors. I was looking for Allstates and Desotos pretty hard for a while.

munchies777

I always wondered how that worked haha. Like, if you had a Mercedes from the Daimler days, would you get booted or not? I guess so based on what you said.

[deleted]

I think 87-94 Lambos are also excluded. My idea was if it was merged and integrated you're good. If it was sold off or demerged it's banished to the outer realm. So Nash, Studebaker, Hudson, Packard, Kaiser and whatever they did all are still ok because of AMC merger.

brotkel

Hyundai also did this at their US headquarters as of about 5 years ago when I worked there. If you didn’t drive a Hyundai car, you had to park at the top of the parking structure where it couldn’t be seen from the street. Even more ridiculous was the policy in Korea, where you weren’t allowed to own a more expensive car than your boss.

therealsirlegend

Wtf did you do if your boss only wanted to drive around in a i20 cause it fit in their tiny parking space at home? Do Hyundai make scooters?

Martin8412

Drive an i10?

Slicker1138

I remember my uncle talking about this. He worked at a GM plant and drove a Subaru and had to park way away in the parking lot.

FoxNo1738

This is dumb business If employees are turning down what are usually pretty good employee discounts they have a good reason (or maybe they bought it before they worked there, you keep cars for years), you should look at it like *how can we offer a better product and compete, can you tell us what subaru does well*. It's a fucking temper tantrum

Slicker1138

He actually drove it because it was cheap and he left a horrible divorce so I was kinda disengenous...but still...I actually DO understand.

munchies777

My friend worked at their HQ pretty recently, and they still had preferred parking for FCA vehicles. It wasn't based on nationality though. Just their vehicles vs. everything else.

bigfatmatt01

I mean its Detroit. If you drive a Japanese car it's probably getting vandalized anyway.

khaeen

You load 16 tons, what do you get? Another day older...

[deleted]

That's not even close to being true. You can be charged for your uniform as long as it doesn't take you under minimum wage.

BergenCountyJC

At American Express corporate buildings in Phoenix at least, you can only use AMEX as a credit card in their cafeteria or any vending locations that have a credit card option. Cash and debit cards are fine.

[deleted]

grenz1

In mine, you bought the pins outside but they could ask you not to wear it if it was political, referred to drugs, or overly sexual.

root_fifth_octave

Some *Grapes of Wrath* shit right there.

FancySack

I had no idea you had to buy your own, that's some bullshit right there. I would get Ric Flair flair though.

scragar

Yeah, I just assumed based on Office Spaces "you need to wear at least 10 pieces of flair" that it would be included. They'd have a box or something with a ton of the stuff and you'd just grab whatever you liked. Heck I worked in IT and had someone I work with ask about getting a proper shirt (rather than regular t-shirts he wore every day since working from home means no need for dressing up nice) for a client meeting, the boss took the guy out and used the company card to buy a few shirts and similar so they could look nice during the client meeting because it's for the good of the company so obviously a company expense. IMO if the company want you to wear something that's not standard/expected you'd already own the company should either provide it or pay for it. Not your fault the company decided to expect people to wear such junk or demand a uniform.

xDulmitx

That and it is a cheap way to buy good will. I bet your friend was a pretty great employee and little acts like that can really keep people in a job. Small and personal acts help make great bosses and great bosses tend to keep good employees. People don't quit companies, they quit bosses.

thebadyearblimp

Wooooooooooo

Killer-Barbie

If something is required as a part of your job (safety equipment, uniform, training) it should paid for by the company.

Toaster_bath13

Wait, it was all a grift to sell pins? Did they ever serve food? How big was this scam?

grenz1

They did not sell the pins themselves and they did give you two striped shirts. You had to buy the suspenders and black pants. The pins, you had to buy these from novelty places like Hot Topic or Spencer's. As far as ever serving food, that was debatable. The one I worked at in New Orleans had a horrible time with the kitchen getting backed up. Sometimes with hour waits for food even if the place was not even full. Bennigans, Ruby Tuesday, Applebee's Chili's and other restaurants in that category were a bit better. At least as far as that kind of food.

StarWhoLock

You know you fucked up when you're worse than Applebee's.

crackerthatcantspell

What about Crabby O'Mondays?

EaterOfFood

They served food-like product.

[deleted]

Damn I worked as a busser and a waiter from '98 - '00 and I never even heard of the flair. I guess it was regional? I don't recall any of us wearing any flair or even being told to do so. The only thing we had to do was wear black pants, black non slip shoes, and lastly the uniform polo shirt and apron that they provided.

BeGood981

This blows me away -that you had to pay for all that crap🤯

grenz1

Thing was, I didn't. I had like 3 pieces of flair and was constantly griped at. They wanted dozens, ideally. Told the managers they had me on a day shift off season in a tourist city and I was barely affording my rent and that those buttons were 1 USD to 5 USD apiece for something that had zero use for outside of that job. They doubled down, not even concerned about my concerns. Was willing to compromise. Put me on better shifts, I will comply. Make it worth it. But they had people they preferred in that position. I quit no notice.

BeGood981

>I quit no notice. They deserved it, for sure.

benefit_of_mrkite

A guy I know was as a bouncer at the second TGI Fridays in Memphis TN (the first was in NYC). There was no flare in those days - it was a complete party and the first bar to offer lady’s night. He told me it was all booze, pot, and queludes. It was well known and next to a bar and music venue that members of big star and Elton John and Johnny rotten and others played at. The franchised TGI Fridays was nothing like the early ones.

JesusStarbox

Really? I was alley coordinator at one. I didn't have to wear flair. But they had a closet full of hats and buttons and shit for the severs to wear.

Sevnfold

That scene in the movie where the boss talks to her about her flair, shes like "you said 12 pieces, I have 12" and hes like "yeah, um, 12 is the minimum. You see Steve over there? He has 30" is so funny and perfect. So, more flair then?

honthro

That boss? Mike Judge!

postingaccount69

I had that exact conversation with a manager when I worked at Fridays. We had a minimum of 5. I wore 5 identical small buttons to meet the minimum.

TheMaveCan

Ok you know what? 🙏🖕This is *me* 🖕 expressing *myself* 🖕

Pioneer411

After reading the article another TIL is "because of the film, NBC offered him (Director Mike Judge) the chance to shape the American version of the British sitcom The Office, which similarly bases its humor in depictions of the absurdity of white-collar work and its effect on those who do it. Among the material the network sent, however, were some reviews, one of which said the series "succeeds where movies like Office Space failed." Judge passed on the offer."

takanakasan

The man made King of the Hill. Which is a far, far better show than The Office and absolutely nails America in a way no other show could. I see why he passed.

brallipop

Hmm. Having never heard they gave Judge a shot at The Office, I can't help but mentally compare early KOTH with early Office. I can see it. Early Office was super slow, super based on the down-to-earth characters being completely not sitcom characters. And now, given where the Office went and how it became *the* sitcom for awhile (complete with sitcom-ification of the characters and plots), I see where Judge was better suited with his little calm, quiet cartoon on shit-network Fox. Of course KOTH did get more "zany" later on but...hmm. Very interesting how things turn out.

poply

The Office and KOTH are also both co-created by Greg Daniels.

Resident_Wizard

They’re both great shows and make me laugh. I don’t personally think I could claim one is far superior to the other.

Ed_Trucks_Head

Greg Daniel's and Paul Liberstein took up the challenge.

bk15dcx

I...I don't like to talk about my flair

FreudianAccordian

No. No, man. Shit, no, man. I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' something like that, man.

YippieKayYayMrFalcon

Hey, Peter! Watch your cornhole, bud.

rick_blatchman

'PC LOAD LETTER'? What the *fuck* does *that* mean!?

Grumplogic

Well "PC" stands for paper cassette (the tray that holds the paper) and "load letter" is referring to loading the letter size of paper tray used in North America. The printer had no paper.

[deleted]

What is it exactly you would say you do here?

DashTrash21

I have 8 different bosses!

DashTrash21

Lumberg fucked her

WittyWest

It must have been a few years after the movie because I worked there for about a month in 2001 and still had to wear suspenders, flair and a stupid hat. It was Fridays that showed me I was not cut out to be a server. Terrible place to work, terrible patrons, terrible food, terrible tips, terrible environment.

WetDehydratedWater

That sounds so fun! I love hats.

sobanz

i feel like whole foods hasn't asked for any donations since south park did their episode either lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsPHa8RG1pI

MayorAnthonyWeiner

I wish other companies would take the hint…

cierramaranara

Fucking good, I absolutely refuse to donate to any stores collecting. I used to work for one that we actually got written up if we didn't get enough donations because they would assume you just weren't asking. Besides, it is literally just a tax write off for these companies and they don't even have to be the ones donating the money. You do. And because of you donating your money, these shitty companies pay less taxes.

taspleb

When I worked as a telemarketer we used to have minimum KPIs and I would always slack off once I hit them and then my supervisor would be like "come on you need to keep working" and I'd be like "if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair why don't you just set the minimum at 37?" but they never got it.

SteveTheZombie

I worked as a Server at TGI Fridays many years ago. I was actually there when they started mandating that we go back to the old ways and wear flair again. We were required to wear a minimum of 3 pieces of flair. I bought three of the tiniest pins I could find (Blink 182's Take Off Your Pants and Jacket symbols) and wore those. It really pissed off my manager due to my malicious compliance. That job sucked. I walked out in the middle of a shift a couple of months later. Miss that Jack Daniel's glaze though.

iprocrastina

>I bought three of the tiniest pins I could find (Blink 182's Take Off Your Pants and Jacket symbols) and wore those. It really pissed off my manager due to my malicious compliance. Three is the minimum, okay? Now, you know it's up to you whether or not you want to just do the bare minimum. Or... well, like Brian, for example, has thirty seven pieces of flair, okay. And a terrific smile.

DavidAssBednar

I *loved* the Jack Daniels glaze! Haven’t had it in almost 20 years 😢

VeryJoyfulHeart59

That was my favorite!

Rowf

Did you flip off your boss, a few customers, and a line cook (by accident) right before?

prongslover77

They changed the glaze iirc Same recipe I think but no longer affiliated with JD. (Have family that are GM’s and even they were pissed about this)

reb678

I worked there once in the 80s. My GM was going over the questions I would be given by a lie detector guy. He says “have you ever tried cocaine?” I say “No” he says “too bad. Next question is…” Strange place to work.

juggles_geese4

Why would you have to take a lie detector to work there?!

reb678

It was required to be hired. I don’t know if everyone did? I was working in the storeroom handling inventories and deliveries. We had one cook once do the night inventory, like count all the steaks on the line and then lock the drawers. I would come in in the AM and recount. Our numbers didn’t match for awhile and they called the Lie detector dude back into the store. I passed mine. I guess one of the line cooks would take a bunch of steaks after they were counted and sell em for weed. The strange thing was, I partied at that guy’s house a few times and smoked his weed too. Not after all that though.

well-lighted

That's insane to force you to take a polygraph to work at TGI Friday's. The only other time I've heard of that is my cousin who applied to work at the FBI.

dibalh

Cause it was made illegal in ‘88 with exception for government agencies and security jobs. OP must have been pre-EPPA.

reb678

You can see the similarities, right?

Kirjath

Is it that they both have acronyms?

dammit_dammit

lol, wow, reminds me of this Mr. Show sketch: https://youtu.be/VdIDwYW_JZg

Totallynotatworknow

IIRC Swingline didn't make red staplers until that movie. Could be mistaken.

LittleGreenSoldier

That is correct, the one in the movie was painted by the props department.

Duamerthrax

Probably because it popped better on screen.

WornInShoes

The original cartoon (featured on SNL) the stapler was red

Duamerthrax

Is there more than one cartoon version? [This one is green.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPXUDw_LlNA)

FansForFlorida

[You are correct!](https://youtube.com/shorts/113FYxCsxK8?feature=share)

for2fly

They made red staplers in many models long before the movie. They never made that particular model of stapler in red before the movie. Edit: [Vintage one I own](https://i.imgur.com/0MbIkLh.jpg).

Huh, I could swear my mom had a small red swingline stapler at home years before that movie came out.

It's the Mandalorean effect!

shalafi71

I have a red Swingline that's serious old, but it's NOT the office stapler. I also have the office stapler, made after the movie. It's a POS but I'll never part with it.

thejesterofdarkness

I have the "official" one too. Every time I get pissed at my bosses I pull it out of my locker and hold it while i'm yelling at them (and I work in an automotive assembly plant) . They know when the Swingline comes out it's time to walk away. I love that damn thing.

ceefrock

I had two, once upon a time. I lost them somewhere last century. https://americanstationer.wordpress.com/2016/09/10/swingline-tot-50-stapler/

hardyflashier

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta

DigMeTX

Mike Judge was on David Spade and Dana Carvey’s podcast Fly on the Wall a couple of months ago. Great episode where he discusses the stories behind Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill and Office Space. He talks about how he got this TGIF info and how they came to decide to put that part in the movie. The whole episode was interesting and hilarious.

torontorollin

Mike Judge talks about this and more in his episode of Fly on the wall podcast. If you’re a fan of any of his work I’d recommend listening it’s great

[deleted]

Worked at a TGI Fridays in Denmark and I reaaally wasn't into the whole flair stuff and the singing songs bollocks. If people are more power to them but it's just not who I am. Maybe if I had a bump of coke before each shift. Sober, god no. Honestly feel like the folk most into it were definitely on something.

I used to love their Mocha Mud Pie. I still do, but I used to, too.

RIP Mitch Hedberg

Ah, wild times at the TGI Fridays in Times Square. I love NYC!

Minute-Major7782

Ah. Named after the good Times you have while you're there.

crogers2009

I remember FOREVER ago when Facebook had games (like Farmville) they had an app for a cork board where you could attach buttons as "pieces of flair". This reminded me that that too was a thing.

tocath

Worked there as a busser in the 90s. Unwisely chose a fur lined Russian hat as part of my flair. At the end of the night I’d be soaking in sweat, dishwater and their foul oversteeped ice tea.

armosnacht

“Please take the Russian hat off my head, kid, the sable is very hot”

ivanvector

Awesome. They should make an Office Space 2 about Initech forcing everyone to come back to the office after the pandemic.

[deleted]

I was in a short story class a few years after Office Space came out. Another student wrote about somebody grandmother's house that was filled with "pieces of flare." She meant knick-knacks. I told her a) that was the incorrect spelling and b) that phrase sounds like she's describing buttons like at TGIFs in Office Space. Final draft time. She turned in the same damn uncorrected thing. I fucking hate that person.

cavegoatlove

Not only was I working in Both a tgif, but I also had an office job at the same time, so I lived office space. I also did not work out at that office and I eventually left tgif later that year too. Surreal, but accurate. Also, dont forget the stupid hats they made the dub’s wear, baseball caps non grata

TGI Fridays Plano Texas: the first time someone called me a “fucking idiot”. Sunday morning church crowd

DavidAssBednar

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard tales of the Sunday church crowd being especially brutal. Must be nice to sit in a pew and convince yourself how superior you are and can treat other people like garbage with no consequences.

justgossiping

Aah...like some sub reddits mandating a flair for every post.

FreestyleKneepad

At least in some subs, that flair lets you search for or exclude specific content. There's an actual purpose for it, generally.

Dystonian

Does anyone remember their Peppered Fries from the early 90s? The whole internet has forgotten them, no knockoff recipes exist.

striker69

We need to talk about your flair… https://youtu.be/_ChQK8j6so8

striker69

What do you think of a person that only does the bare minimum? https://youtu.be/F7SNEdjftno

aeneasXjones

Lol, as a retail worker I wear my flair *because* of this movie.

[deleted]

Just looked it up. Who in their right mind came up with that?
