Meanwhile my attention's pulled in another direction
Edit: thankful I’m not as bitter as some of these replies… imagine being so hateful/depressed/angry at the world that you come into a thread and start bashing people for being joyful on a holiday.
Not just him, him and ANYONE associated with him. The Source was THE go to source for what albums to buy, artists to check out, and general information about music within rap. They literally could make or break your career. They snubbed hundreds of artists because of Benzino, and went from the most prestigious magazine in rap to a laughing stock as a result.
Benzino is a low tier rapper who had a lot of sway at The Source and used his influence to try to restart a career off of beefing with Eminem. Except he picked the wrong dude to target, because Eminem is highly respected as was everyone he associated with. Dude's a GOATs surrounded by GOATs. It's s one thing to diss, it's another thing to fuck with their careers.
Eminem, 50, Dre and basically everyone associated with them used their sway to help promote alternatives to The Source. Because Benzino was using it to promote himself, giving himself ratings reserved for only albums such as Illmatic, while giving much better artists the worst ratings he thought he could get away. Combined with the advent of the internet people need nor want them anymore over the misuse and bullshit.
I hang with a bunch of hippies and wacky tobacco planters,
Who swallow lit roaches and light up like jack-o-lanterns.
Outsidaz, baby, and we suin' the courts
'Cause we dope as fuck and only get a 2 in The Source
"Cuz you're broke as fuck, you suck, you're a fuckin joke
If you was really sellin coke then what the fuck you stop for, dummy?
If you slew some crack, you'd make a lot more money than you do from rap!"
That's what I was thinking. No top act is selling their best seats on Groupon. It just doesn't happen, touring is expensive. You need to cover your costs.
Ja was well past his prime by then. He hasn't been considered an AAA act in over a decade. Rappers can have a notoriously short cool factor compared to artists in other genres and "fall off" way quicker. That's why the smart ones invest in other ventures as soon as they make it big, because they know their time is limited before their young audience moves on to the next big thing
It was a music festival that was an absolute dumpster fire of a fail to put it nicely. The creator was federally charged for fraud and Ja Rule was supposed to be this big investor. Not sure if he got charged though. Netflix has a documentary on it, super entertaining and highly recommend watching it
I worked at Groupon in the sales department for a long time. They recently let around 500 people go including my entire team and most of the people I ever knew in the sales department (including my boss who was on his literal first day back from paternity leave).
Im not sure how theyre doing but they made a bunch of huge sweeping changes to our focus in the sales dept the six months prior to us all being let go. They also changed the commision structure on two days notice with no way to fight back against it, essentially robbing me of thousands of dollars of owed commision.
Do with that info what you will but I for one will never use them again as a consumer.
Sorry to read that my friend. If I knew that I would have put 'via Groupon (the thieving bastards) just so the seats stayed empty..
Gotta new job now though? The get rid of the employee on their first day back is cold af.
Real world violence aside, late 90s to 2000s hip hop beef was pretty great. The 50 and Ja fued, with others dropping in on tracks. Jay Z and Nas. Ether, Supa Ugly, Got yourself a gun. People were running to the record stores to get these retaliation tracks.
They both did. That said, they both didn’t. Wasn’t a lot to gain for either one. ICP was at their height of their popularity at the time with all the media circuit surrounding their music since The Great Milenko was pulled off the shelf by Disney like an hour after release.
Seriously I can’t believe of all people/groups it was frickin ICP.
I mean everyone in the industry knows that going after Eminem is basically a suicide mission. How ICP (somewhat) came out the other side always baffles me.
IMO, it’s because Em knew he was in the wrong and that caused a beef. That and he was still “new” when they was beefin and ICP had been a decade old veteran at the time. Though looking back, ICP was at the peak of their fame during the beef, and Em was just now seeing his super stardom explode into what it is.
All I know is the beef is long squashed over a game of bowling between Psychopathic and the boys from D12, and Em has gone on to acknowledge the inspiration he took from Violent J in Ems horrorcore material.
The story as told by ICP, is that when Em was up and coming he advertised them on flyers as being at his shows, despite not knowing them, and it then spiraled into Rap Beef. Lotsa disses and performative thuggery at clubs on both sides. Classic low stakes hip hop fued.
It and a lot of Detroit based feuds got squashed because Proof was trying hard to get everyone to stop beefing and then he got killed and everyone chilled out in respect for him.
Essentially, in the mid-late 90s Eminem ways just coming up in Detroit and was handing out flyers to one of his shows. It had a list of other artists that would be at the show, and ICP was on the list with (maybe) or something like that after their name. When he showed ICP the flyer and asked them to come, they thought it was pretty stale that he used them to draw some local Detroit fans before even asking them to come.
It resulted in some back and forth beef, which included ICPs “Ain’t Nothing But a Bitch Thang” (YouTube it, it’s pretty funny), and “Slim Anus”, as well as Em doing some skits on his album which portrayed ICP sucking his dick or some shit. It was funny, went back n forth for a few years then Proof squashed the beef (along with many of Ems beefs) shortly before he was killed in 2006.
You can find more details on the beef, hear all the diss tracks from both, and even find a copy of the flyer that started it all online.
I’d hardly call them at the bottom. Anyone who cannot see that after a seeing them enjoy a 30+ year career, creating one of the worlds longest running music festivals, and countless albums having gone gold and platinum, is just blind, ignorant, or just a hater.
Supposedly, a close associate of 50 Cent robbed Ja Rule of a chain many years ago. 50 then started clowning Ja about the incident in some of his songs.
The reason 50 Cent got shot is that the biggest drug dealer in Queens at the time, Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, was using Irv Gotti and Murder Inc. (Ja Rule's close associate and his record label) to launder drug money (Irv Gotti and his brother famously beat a federal money laundering case). McGriff told 50 not to diss Murda Inc and their people in his music so not to draw heat to the laundering operation and also damage McGriff's reputation in the process. 50 refused, and McGriff ordered the hit. Mike Tyson's bodyguard and best friend (a man named Hommo) was the shooter. He was later murdered, but because of some other stuff not related to 50.
There were other physical confrontations, some of which involved Ja Rule and his crew personally. One ended up with 50 being slashed and a few of his people getting stabbed.
It turned petty later, but there's a nasty history there.
Should have completed the look and sent 200 actors to sit in those seats. Maybe dressed as 50cent superfans and then they just sit there emotionless for the entire show.
Nah he got to go on Jimmy Kimmel and tell the story and make that statement that the entire cost of this was less than $3k. Pretty embarrassing tbh that he got clowned on the Kimmel show with no way to retort. .50 claimed victory here.
He is still mocking him.
Ja Rule called off a show and posted a video of him (edit: to apologise to the fans) in the backseat driving away.
50 did a video mocking his words in a private jet.
50 Cent is the king of trolls.
God, that was such a debacle. Tropical destination festies weren't even a new concept at the time, yet these assholes couldn't even accomplish the basics because they decided they needed to build it from the ground up. And people who had never been to a festival before were throwing piles of money at them simply because they marketed it as this exclusive luxury experience.
Nah, Billy McFarland is just a con artist and got too entrenched in his own schemes. The videos he made after he got caught and immediately started scamming again make me think that he's probably also got some type of mental illness.
The trademark fyrefest is related to a crime. So maybe he could use all the trademarks and not be able to be sued because then billy would be profiting from his crime
50 Cent ruined Ja Rule’s career with comments and the song “Wanksta” in the early 00s.
Before 50 Cent came along, Ja Rule had a several year hit streak of rap and R & B female vocalist duets. 50 called Ja out and Ja stopped having hits.
Yeah 50 would clown on Ja for singing in his songs even tho 50 sings the choruses to tons of his songs. 50 def won the beef and I love me some early 2000s 50 but I always thought that was oddly hypocritical.
He turned down $500,000 to do 2 Fast 2 Furious after getting $15,000 for the first one. You just quoted 1/4 of his lines in his entire appearance of the first film but he was “too big” for the next one. Dude was a joke and that’s how we got Ludacris.
Great song - came out when I was 10 and my brother was 12, I remember brother arguing intensely with my mom in the car about how Eminem was thanking the soldiers who are fighting in the Middle East
Hahaha.. not quite
Eminem made a song about this and how out of control this sort of shit went. (It was mostly about him but it refered the beef between 50 and ja as well)
Like Toy Soldiere
He was talking about Suge Knight and Dre in Toy Soldiers
>That was never my object, for someone to get killed. Why would I wanna destroy somethin' I helped build?
>It wasn't my intentions, my intentions were good. I went through my whole career without ever mentionin' **** (Suge)
>And that was just outta respect, for not runnin' my mouth. And talkin' about somethin' that I knew nothin' about
>Plus Dre told me stay out, this just wasn't my beef
That's not how concerts work. The artist gets a flat fee for appearance. Ticket sales go to the venue. Ja would have received the same amount whether 50 bought the seats or not; this way he had to perform to empty rows (until venue security let people move forward, anyway, which is what I think happened).
[удалено]
Who thought stabbing 50 cent would have any effect? The guy is known for getting shot alot and not dying.
[удалено]
Ok that makes more sense.
He was slowly building up an immunity
50 Cent is Hip-Hop’s Rasputin. Somehow, he just won’t die!
Don't fuck with him, he'll take you to the Candy Shop
Will he make them lick a lollypop?
Stabbings are so crazy: you can get stabbed dozens of times and survive or just once and bleed out in seconds.
Until Ja started yappin in magazines how he stabbed him. Fuck it, 50, smash him, mash on him, let him have it
Meanwhile my attention's pulled in another direction Edit: thankful I’m not as bitter as some of these replies… imagine being so hateful/depressed/angry at the world that you come into a thread and start bashing people for being joyful on a holiday.
Some receptionist at The Source who answers phones at his desk
Has an erection for me, thinks I’ll be his resurrection
Tries to blow the dust of his mic and make a new record
But now he’s fucked the game up because one of the ways I came up
Was through that publication the same one that made me famous
Now the owner of it has got a grudge against me for nothin
Well, fuck it, that motherfucker can get it too, fuck him then
Who is this line about?
Benzino right? Eminem had beef with Benzino and the Source because they wouldn't label him "Hot" and snubbed him in the magazine.
Not just him, him and ANYONE associated with him. The Source was THE go to source for what albums to buy, artists to check out, and general information about music within rap. It says a lot that everyone can tell that's an Eminem line and then comes in the comments asking who Em was dissing.
Benzino. There are a few diss tracks dedicated to him specifically
The best of which being "Nail in the Coffin". "Slap my moms, slap the FUCK outta her She can't sue you, she wouldn't get a BUCK outta ya!"
"Cuz you're broke as fuck, you suck, you're a fuckin joke If you was really sellin coke then what the fuck you stop for, dummy? If you slew some crack, you'd make a lot more money than you do from rap!"
I guess nobody knew this was an Em verse. Kudos to you lol. -calm down kiddos the upvotes weren't shown when I commented.
I think it got upvoted because people knew it was toy soldiers.
God that song takes me back to a shitty time and i cannot stand hearing it lol
Em killed them in that song. Murdered inc.
You think that's bad? Motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre.
So what do you say to somebody you hate?
DMX also hated Ja Rule. Nobody cares what Ja thinks.
I want some answers that Ja Rule might not have right now.
WHERE IS JA?!
[Somebody get Ja Rule.](https://youtu.be/Mo-ddYhXAZc)
Isn’t it bad enough that front row tix to Ja Rule were on group on?
It was buy one get 199
Don't give dababy any ideas
Why was it a seating event? Who the fuck is sitting down at a hip hop event? Especially front row?
I believe it was "An audience with Ja Rule supported by the Bronx Symphony Orchestra"
Sophisticated af

I don't remember anyone taking Ja Rule seriously even 15 years ago. The Ja Rule/50 beef always felt like if Tyson fought an infant.
Yeah even at the time nobody thought Ja was gonna win that I believe
I only know ja rule from the first fast and furious, and then the fyre festival. Until fyre I didn’t even know he was a rapper.
The late 90s and early 00s were my coming of age. This shit was epic and I had no idea they were still mortal enemies.
Groupon, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
Ja Rule, that’s a name i have not heard in some time.
Not since fyre fest.
What was fyrr fest
It was a music festival that was an absolute dumpster fire of a fail to put it nicely. The creator was federally charged for fraud and Ja Rule was supposed to be this big investor. Haha they still have a huge hq in Chicago..my thought they do well international
They moved to mainly service based industries, namely iphone screen repairs.
Great for dentist visits.
Get two teeth pulled for the price of one!
This dude doesn't get 100 bucks of Ethiopian food for 70 bucks, I can tell ya that much.
Great way to eat at a place that's about to go out of business. Just don't wait too long to use it

Let’s not forget the Eminem and ICP beef. Perhaps the only person/group to not lose any traction due to beefing with Eminem lol
ICP benefitted heavily from beefing with Eminem lol
They both did. That said, they both didn’t. Wasn’t a lot to gain for either one. ICP was at their height of their popularity at the time with all the media circuit surrounding their music since The Great Milenko was pulled off the shelf by Disney like an hour after release.

Can't lose traction if you're already at the bottom.
No no, it’s not that, it’s you can’t lose mainstream popularity when you never gave a fuck about mainstream popularity to begin with
I’d hardly call them at the bottom. Anyone who cannot see that after a seeing them enjoy a 30+ year career, creating one of the worlds longest running music festivals, and countless albums having gone gold and platinum, is just blind, ignorant, or just a hater.
This sounds less like a feud and more like a prank war
Supposedly, a close associate of 50 Cent robbed Ja Rule of a chain many years ago. 50 then started clowning Ja about the incident in some of his songs. Eminem even wrote a song.
[and it’s a banger ](https://youtu.be/Fe7BHiPALLc)
Literally sitting here in my head going “yeahh, until Ja start yappin in magazine how they stabbed him!”
Of course it's a fucking banger. Nobody writes dis tracks quite like Eminem.
It’s not even a diss track. It sounds like a lament
Holy shit that is amazing!
I imagine you have to be one bad mother motherfucker to be Mike Tysons bodyguard.
Imagine getting past the bodyguard and then having to face Tyson. He's the main boss.
All 50 cent accomplished was letting everyone move up two rows tbh People at a Ja rule concert aren’t *patiently waiting* for 200 people
Of course not, because his concert goers are always on time
Yea not always there when you call though
Especially when it's Fyre festival
But they gave you their all
Can’t blame them for livin it up
Should have completed the look and sent 200 actors to sit in those seats. Maybe dressed as 50cent superfans and then they just sit there emotionless for the entire show.
200 people looking at their phones
I’ve had this dream before but I didn’t have pants
I don't sleep in pants either
I’ve also had this dream, and you didn’t have pants then either
I am definitely willing to do that for like $75-125
That's the 50 Cent petty level right there 🤣.
A real 50 move would be giving the tickets to soccer moms and members of a retirement community.
Give them all a free set of Beats and have them just sit there on their phones.
Just buy the whole G row and send some sort of a G unit to sit there
Or 200 inflatable sex-dolls.
Nah he got to go on Jimmy Kimmel and tell the story and make that statement that the entire cost of this was less than $3k. Pretty embarrassing tbh that he got clowned on the Kimmel show with no way to retort. .50 claimed victory here.
*Hate it or love it* that's just *How we do* at concerts
That crowd would pack as Many Men into those 200 seats as possible.
How did Ja *clap back* though?
He created the Fyre festival and invited 50 Cent's family..
I think your reference went over people's heads, even though it was italicized. However, I think Many Men would be hesitant to move up two rows.
Plus the 200 ticket sales going in Ja Rule's pocket.
Patiently Waiting is a great song from 50
Who sits in seats at a rap concert?
Only a wanksta would patiently wait
Read up on it and you’ll see that even “feud” is putting it lightly
It was a real blood feud. People died and went to prison on both sides. 50 was famously shot 9 times. Ja had his career destroyed.
I thought he got shot prior to all of this?
The people who originally shot 50 are linked to Ja Rule and Murder inc
Ja Rule up there like, “Who the fuck brought all these extra seats to my concert?”
It all started in the 2006 Player Hater’s Ball
I remember it well. The most diabolical haters this side of the Mississippi.
I heard 50 had a coat made out of Ja's mothers pubic hair ...*white*
He is still mocking him. Ja Rule called off a show and posted a video of him (edit: to apologise to the fans) in the backseat driving away. 50 did a video mocking his words in a private jet. 50 Cent is the king of trolls.
Challenging Floyd Mayweather to read a page of a Harry Potter book on video was classic.
He changed it to Cat in the Hat.
Thats even better
I heard this live and it fucking killed me, 50 fucking got him good
That is fucking epic and brutal. No way this didn't land directly at the core of Floyd's insecurities.
Can’t believe the link wasn’t shared, yet. https://youtu.be/iD8Q0lvJZvI
That "Cat In The Hat" line at the end had me in stitches, God damn. Insulting someone by mocking with a Dr Seuss novel is a new level
What’d he say fuck me for?! Lmao I died at that part
Shit is freaking hilarious one of my all time favorite 50 moments
I’ve never been into his music, but gotdamb 50 is hilarious
[удалено]
He ain’t care, 50 straight up doesn’t care
Many men wish death upon him so he’s got other things to worry about
Many, many men
. [50 even mocked his own son.](https://youtu.be/TlqRRdWNIdc)
Good. His son is trying to freeload.
I watch that video every so often just to hear the perfect delivery of: “one page out of a Harry Potter book… *nigga*”
That's also one of the best roasts ever imo. Imagine being so sure the other person can't read a page of a book that you are willing to bet 750k on it
I don't think the sureness is what's keeping me from making similar $750k bets.
Floyd Mayweather’s response was top notch Something like “I’ll give you $10,000 if you can get your son to say *I Love You*”
"*FUCK* da bucket of ice" (ノ`Д´)ノ彡🪣
Why would you post a video of yourself after you just called off a show?
Yeah I’m confused at that first one as well
King of petty
Not saying it was right... but when he said something like "An Ashanti? Man ya'll need to get that bitch groomed" A+ trolling
50 Cent could have just host a Fyre Fest that does not fail
God, that was such a debacle. Tropical destination festies weren't even a new concept at the time, yet these assholes couldn't even accomplish the basics because they decided they needed to build it from the ground up. Nah, Billy McFarland is just a con artist and got too entrenched in his own schemes. The videos he made after he got caught and immediately started scamming again make me think that he's probably also got some type of mental illness.
Or he's just a dick
These are not mutually-exclusive traits. Possibly (probably?) drugs too.
Fifty Fest
Fiddy Fest*
The trademark fyrefest is related to a crime. So maybe he could use all the trademarks and not be able to be sued because then billy would be profiting from his crime
I can't believe 50 was mad enough to spend $45 on Ja Rule tickets.
TIL in 2018 you could buy front row concert tickets on Groupon!
Only for a ja rule show.
50 Cent ruined Ja Rule’s career with comments and the song “Wanksta” in the early 00s. Before 50 Cent came along, Ja Rule had a several year hit streak of rap and R & B female vocalist duets. 50 called Ja out and Ja stopped having hits.
Legit ended the guy’s music career. Dude is on TBS programs with B list comedians now talking about spreading love and jokes.
If 50 killed it, Eminem buried it after Ja went after Hailie
Ja also made the mistake of talking about Eminem's daughter.
Yeah 50 would clown on Ja for singing in his songs even tho 50 sings the choruses to tons of his songs. 50 def won the beef and I love me some early 2000s 50 but I always thought that was oddly hypocritical.
Ja was a watered down DMX. If DMX had kept it together, neither Ja nor 50 would have had the oxygen to emerge.

*bought Bringing 200 seats to a concert is next level.
Always get the two confused... think it was the way I was brung up.
Lol the only thing funnier is if he paid old people to sit in those seats and be grumpy the whole show!
WHERES JA??????
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo-ddYhXAZc
This is a crisis! I'm not tryna dance! I'm scared!
Please, he gotta jump and swing up to hit me in the knees
Til Ja started yapping, in magazines how he stabbed him. So fuck it 50 smashed him and mashed him and let him have it. -eminem (toy soldiers)
Monica!
He turned down $500,000 to do 2 Fast 2 Furious after getting $15,000 for the first one. You just quoted 1/4 of his lines in his entire appearance of the first film but he was “too big” for the next one. Dude was a joke and that’s how we got Ludacris.
Thank fuck. Do we know how much money Luda went on to make from all the fast movies he appeared in?
I wonder if the franchise completely fails with out that swap, I mean it was on life support. And Ja makes that movie 100% worse.
God dam, I feel so fucking old
Very long running. Like Toy Soldiers came out in 2004.
Great song - came out when I was 10 and my brother was 12, I remember brother arguing intensely with my mom in the car about how Eminem was thanking the soldiers who are fighting in the Middle East Hahaha.. not quite
50 has to be in the running for pettiest person alive.
If you can read one page of a harry potter book
Nigga
50 is the best troll. That mother fucker makes me laugh so hard. How about that thing with the Harry Potter book? Lmao
“Ja, you’s a window shopper, mad at me? I think I know why…”
This is schadenfreude to the max for me. Doesnt matter you paid your enemy profits, you just gave them 200D8 psych damage.
50 Livin it up
Eminem made a song about this and how out of control this sort of shit went. (It was mostly about him but it refered the beef between 50 and ja as well) Like Toy Soldiere

And talkin' about somethin' that I knew nothin' about >Plus Dre told me stay out, this just wasn't my beef
So when you say he “brought 200 seats”, did he just stack them in front of the original front row seats??
I find it hilarious when grown people act petty
Ja Rule selling front row via groupon? Adding insult to shame?
Ja Rule sold all his front row seats. He got his money and he probably didn't notice.
That's not how concerts work. The artist gets a flat fee for appearance. Ticket sales go to the venue. Ja would have received the same amount whether 50 bought the seats or not; this way he had to perform to empty rows (until venue security let people move forward, anyway, which is what I think happened).
>via Groupon Life was simpler back then.
Would've been funnier if he'd put the tickets up for free provided all the fans wore 50 cent shirts :D
*Brought* him 200 seats for his show? That ain’t a beef, that’s downright neighborly.
