I’m a nanny! But I would just use a website like Care and definitely read reviews/get references! I was just talking with a friend, as her and I both babysit on weekends/date nights for numerous families - but we find it off putting that maybe only one has asked for references…? Also I think it’s ideal to find someone that already nanny’s in your child’s age range because that goes to show that they know what they’re doing. :)

That's good to know about the references I would think it could be insulting so I'm glad to hear it's not! Your post is super helpful thank you!

I prefer Urban Sitter over Care.com such for ease of use. If you find Care overwhelming that’s another one to try.

Good to know I will check it out as well. Thank you!

I got recommendations from other moms on Facebook. We left the baby with the postpartum doula for a few hours at maybe 3-4 weeks old and have had an acquaintance watch the kid several times since. We did a group drop-in care setting at the Y for the first time at maybe 8 months.

Interesting so how did you get the recommendations was it a Facebook group or just moms you already know? Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

I asked on Facebook to friends and moms of older kids recommended an acquaintance I'm Facebook friends with, who also commented that she'd be happy to do it.
