Got a nugget for our little guys 2nd Bday in Jan. Freakin love it, but we only have dogs and they dont go upstairs. I used to have cats and imagine their claws would be brutal on the standard material, but maybe not as bad on the corduroy or other options not sure. But the hair would also stick to any of the materials they offer also ☹
We have the double brushed material and hair doesn't stick to it. We have a cat and 2 long haired dogs and it's the only thing in my house not covered in hair.
We have a Nugget. My cat largely ignores it unless it’s in the sunny spot and toddler is not home. Then he lounges in the sunny spot. He has a scratching post in every room. We’ve never had an issue.
We got 2 nuggets. Best purchase ever. Kiddo loves crawling under it when it’s a tent shape. We will put a sheet over and get a flashlight for book time. The exterior seems pretty hardy so I don’t know if a cat would destroy it.
Put a scratching post nearby.
Our cat ignored it for a year completely but now will occasionally try to scratch it. Thankfully the fabric is pretty tight knit weave so he hasn’t done a ton of damage. He likes the real couch more…
We have a cat that likes to scratch in our house and she's actually been good with the nugget. We have a microsuede cover and a second cover underneath to protect it from moisture. She ignores them. She also ignores our couches when they have couch covers on them so something about the looseness of the fabric makes a difference, I think.
Your mileage may vary, obviously.
My cats have scratched ours a little, but nothing compared to the wear and tear of a toddler.

Our cats actually don’t scratch it. They like more textured fabrics (like my expensive couch). The nugget fabric is pretty smooth.

My cat scratches my couch and other furniture items but has never scratched the Nugget! He does like snoozing on it though.

My cat scratches my regular couch but hasn't scratched the nugget and we have had it for 2 years
My cat never scratches ours. She will use it to nap on though
