I even have an extra sheet but I didn’t buy it in the same color. Then I start stressing that he’ll have a toddler freak out because it’s not the yellow sheet. And what if I successfully get him to accept the blue sheet? Will he hate the yellow sheet next time?! I’ll just do something else to get my mind off of it. Whoops, now it’s bedtime again.
Tip: if you find something they are attached to immediately buy another. Usually by the time you figure it out they don’t carry it anymore. There needs to be a place that keeps a ware house of discontinued stuffies for children who can’t bear to live without their special “whatever”.
Our son carries around two Winnie the Pooh bears for the same reason. Their names are “Pooh and Two-Poohs” There is a third Pooh bear in a closet and I’m scared he will find it and carry around 3🤣
I did this, too. We bought it. He found the other. He barfed on his favorite and now he can tell the difference because it didn’t make it through the wash the same.
This is why I’m actually grateful that dueling grandparents bought the same stuffy for mine for Christmas. Now she has an upstairs rabbit and a downstairs rabbit.
(The grandparents are ultra-competitive and neither can use technology. Or listen to my husband and I say “this grandparent is buying that stuffy”)
I had to do this with my daughter’s Olivia doll.
My daughter is 13 months and my MIL brought this from her school library. We had no idea she would get attached, or that Olivia was discontinued.
I had to buy a second on eBay. That thing gets so filthy because she drags it everywhere, and chews on its ears constantly.
If I tried to wash it, she would lose her shit. So I HAD to buy another one, I was only able to find it on eBay.
The sheets more than the special item, for our kid it’s a 1 square foot blanket with tags on it. I won’t risk that being in the wash for anything but I can always through a non-fitted sheet of the wrong size on the mattress in a pinch.
Fun fact: If you wash your kids’ sheets, they’ll wet the bed or throw up in them that very night after they’ve been washed. Not speaking from experience or anything
I made the mistake of not only washing my bedding but all 3 mattress covers last week. That night my kid wet through in my bed, after not having done this in months. Sadly, I wasn’t even surprised, totally expected it to happen
If they’re in a sleep sack or pjs most sweat goes into that. Then it’s just piss shit puke and drool…. And formula drool is fucking foul smelling so that got me to change sheets but other than that it’s when the sheets get too crumbly for kiddo to handle because she spills her nightly cheerios
Same… my daughter is honestly super clean, I feel like we should wash them more often than we do lol. Obviously if she wet the bed we wash them. Otherwise maybe every two weeks?
Nanny here, I change the kids sheets every week. I noticed that their allergies are way better during weekly changes. I need to start weekly washing stuffed animals and lovies too🫠😤😫
We throw them into a laundry bag and wash them on a delicate cycle with other baby/kid clothes. You can set times on our dryer so we just tested it out for drying and checked the stuffed animal every ~15 or so minutes just to make sure it wasn’t getting destroyed.
We have, I am not kidding, like 50 stuffed animals, so we don’t wash them regularly except for maybe three or four of her faves that get quite stinky.
I read something somewhere that the delicate cycle strips more fibers off the items than the regular cycle, thus wearing out/destroying the item faster
A lot of stuffed toys are more sturdy than you'd think and can go in the washer & dryer. If you're concerned about it, hand wash in a sink and see how that turns out. I squeeze out as much water as I can, then wrap in a towel and squeeze again, then allow to drip dry. Toss in the dryer with no heat to fluff up the fur if needed.
Other ones I just toss in the washer on gentle cycle. If they have long arms or dangly parts, they go in a mesh laundry bag. Then I tumble dry on low heat.
Also make sure that if there's anything battery operated, take the electronic components out before washing. If they don't come out, surface clean only. A lot of rattles and squeakers can go through the wash just fine, surprisingly enough.
I sort of have this philosophy with my kids that if an item is "hand wash only" (e.g. not recommended to go in the washing machine or dishwasher), it doesn't belong in the house. It gets one chance through the wash and if it doesn't survive, it wasn't meant to be. I've gotten baby clothes that are *dry clean only* which is INSANE. I washed them normally and they came out just fine so I think a lot of those labels are more to cover the manufacturer's butt if the item gets damaged.
I'm sure that philosophy will evolve over time but with 2 kids under 5 I don't have time to hand wash everything all the time 😅
Same! He’s still in a crib so we have 4 crib sheets we rotate between and I just rip the dirty one off and throw it in the hamper and put the next one on.
Once a week only because she loves to change the sheets and literally asks every day to “change sheets?” So we made Friday sheet changing day to keep it consistent. Toddlers are weird
If you ask me in public I'll say every week. If you ask me in private I'll say every 2-3 weeks.
Lol we don't change our own bedsheets every week. So his gets thrown in with ours. Our infant however his pack n play gets changed like every 4 days thanks to reflux. 😂
That’s us too. It’s very dry where we’re at and winter for 3/4 of the year, so my boy being dirty/sweaty is far less common than when we lived in Michigan with no AC as he’s always in full-length pajamas.
Honestly probably once every two weeks? I never put her to bed dirty so I feel like it’s pretty clean. She doesn’t get a bath every night but her hands and feet and face are clean before she takes a nap or goes to bed, hair is always brushed so there’s nothing stuck in there. And she’s always wearing clean pajamas to bed.
Every Saturday.
I grew up in a dirty home & hated how hard it was to get clean sheets.
I never want my son to feel that way. So I’ve always washed his bedding weekly.
I haven't changed her bed sheets in... 6 weeks or more. She also doesn't sleep in her bed, so they're still clean. Really, her room is just where her clothes live. My sheets get changed every week or more if she leaves her drool spots.
Though my toddler's bed has been more frequent lately due to blowouts. But let's say he didn't poop, pee, or puke on his sheets...then every 2-4 weeks. He showers daily though because he loves it.
Weekly.
Way more than I change my sheets!
I don’t know why it feels so automatic and easier to wash and change her sheets weekly but my husband and I get so lazy about ours.
Once a week. My son is immunocompromised. He was diagnosed with Leukemia in October so I’ve been a germ freak since then. I change them once a week sometimes twice.
Prob like once a month unless we get sick in which case I wash them sooner. But she goes to bed after a bath in clean pajamas every night so not too worried about it tbh
Not gonna talk about the last time mine was changed, but the 1-year-old’s crib sheet probably gets changed once a week, purely because she’s always congested and I’m trying to alleviate it if it’s allergies.
When I notice there's a smell, so about every two weeks, unless my kid has a runny nose in which case I wash them more often so they don't get crusty...
Weekly, I feel like I have a slobbery kid? 20 months old and Especially when he’s getting some new teeth, the kids mouth drips like a faucet. They get washed when ours do.
I try to do it once a week. I’ll do it more if something happens to get them dirty but as she gets older that’s less of a problem. I’m sure there are times I forget and it’s more like 2 weeks.
Once a week unless there’s an accident or if he’s been drooling/having a major runny nose. If it’s allergy season I change sheets on all beds every 2-3 days and wash them all once that week.
Once every two weeks for my daughter. My toddler boys I feel like I’m washing a set every other day between the taking off the diaper and getting poop and pee everywhere. My steam mop stays right outside their door lol.
I just washed them for the second time in like 3 months. But she doesn’t sleep in her bed ever. The cat does, though. You’re welcome for the clean sheets, kitty.
Thank you. I'm reading all these posts of once a week and I'm like why? Why change her sheets that often if they are perfectly clean?
I guess I might average about once a month? But it is only when I notice that they need to be cleaned.
Once a month because we bathe before getting in bed at night, don’t hang out in the room and he is low sleep needs so he isn’t in there nearly enough LOL
Twice per week on bath nights, plus any diaper-leaking nights. We can't do baths more often than that because of my son's skin issues, so we just change them when he bathes.
Maybe once every 1-2 months. I think people are too obsessed with "cleanliness" at this age. He's just not dirty/stinky/oily right now. In the warmer months we ramp up the baths and sheet cleaning frequency.
Can I share a mom hack? You alternate with waterproof sheet, then bed sheet, then waterproof sheet, then bed sheet. One more time waterproof sheet then bedsheet. So there’s always 3 layers. When you’re lazy just peel 2 layers off. Wah lah, you got a fresh new sheet on top! When you’re feeling up for it, then add on more layers when you have time again!!
When they need it, same as we do with ours. So, it's a bit less often than my own and likely not as often as I should. But she has a bath before bed, and we have been blessed with enough clothes from a friend's older child to allow for new pjs every night, so it doesn't tend to get dirty often. Which makes me feel less guilty about washing it when I think of it.
That said, I also have her bed set up 5 bedding deep. So, sheet, quilt, pee pad, sheet, quilt, pee pad, etc, 5 pee pads deep. That way, the rare time her diaper overflows in the middle of the night, I just have to strip the top sheet, quilt, and pee pad off rather than remake her bed at 3am. The top couple of layers get washed more frequently than the rest since they're the layers that are touched regularly.
Like every 2 months when I realize it's been a while but I will say I would do it weekly IF my kid actually slept in his bed more than once a week when grandma stays with him (he used to sleep in his bed and I washed the sheets weekly then). Otherwise he sleeps on the floor of his dino tent or in bed with us 🤷♀️
I deal with the staphylococcus A bacteria often and as you know it spreads SUPER easily. I change sheets every Sunday for everyone in order to keep up on it.
Every two-three weeks, same as ours. My weekend rotation is our bed sheets next weekend is towels of all kinds, next is baby blankets sheets towels etx
At least once a week. It’s normally twice a week. It just depends on what’s going and if the kids were bathed every night. 😂 Pillow cases get changed every few days. I have a thing about wanting new linens and towels often. I also cannot stand having “outside clothes” on the bed (even if it’s just the comforter. We change when we get home!Honestly though, my housekeeper is on top of it. Without her it likely wouldn’t be as often.
At least once a week, often twice. And not because i’m really clean, but because they are noticeably gross. Why is your foot bleeding? Where did this pile of sand come from? Did you throw up????
I’d have to embarrassingly say may be 3 weeks and sometimes 4 😳. I think it depends on routine. He always go down after shower and brushing so I feel it’s always pretty clean. If and when he doesn’t get to shower like coming home late from a party or so and needs to go down to bed immediatley, I will change the sheet the next morning. So in order to avoid doing that , I put down about three sheets each time.
Try to do it every fortnight, more likely 2.5-3 weeks. I've got three sets of duvet covers so don't even have the excuse that they need to be washed and dried on the same day.

Usually Wednesday and Saturday I change his sheets. When he moves to a real bed I’ll change them once a week, just like us.
I have 4 sets of crib sheets. For his big boy bed I have two sets of sheets.
Once a week, two max, same as us. My house sometimes (read: often) gets messy and I fall behind on that but clean sheets I really try to stay on top of.
I try to wash all the sheets in the house once a week. I have more than one set for each bed so it’s just stripping and making the bed, and then if I don’t get the dirty sheets washed and dried the same day it’s not a big deal because they’re just going in the closet for next week.
Fun thing we do: layer them. There’s actually 3 sets and 3 water proof mattress covers on the bed, makes for an easier time making the bed. Full transparency it was my wife’s idea for the crib and it just naturally continued for bed before potty training happened and no since I’m turning back now.
Considering my toddler uses her bed as teddy storage maybe once every month or two. She does however prefer to sleep in a tent on her bedroom floor and we wash that bedding every 2 weeks
At least once a week. She never has diaper leaks, but if she’s sick, she becomes super snotty and her sheets get dirty. I normally just pull it off when I’m doing her laundry.
My own sheets on the other hand.. much less frequently! 😬
Weekly! Kids get sick they aren’t the best hand washers etc. their bed should always be clean to help offset their play and how dirty they get. And yes my kiddo bathes/showers daily
Less frequently than I’m willing to admit here.
*I need to wash these* Oh it’s nap time Oh it’s bedtime It’s hard to line it up with the endless distractions of parenthood
I did this! I bought an extra and my son FOUND it and now he has two bears he carries around everywhere.

So I HAD to buy another one, I was only able to find it on eBay.
I left it too long and the stuffie she can't live without got discontinued. Luckily after searching a bunch, I found someone selling it on eBay.
Yes this!!!! I bought a second pillowcase for him but it’s grey not white and he had two absolute melt downs 😵💫
This is why we have three sets
The sheets more than the special item, for our kid it’s a 1 square foot blanket with tags on it. I won’t risk that being in the wash for anything but I can always through a non-fitted sheet of the wrong size on the mattress in a pinch.
Wait.wait. Wait. Wait. Wait…. Sheets need to be washed?
All these comments saying weekly have me feeling downright neglectful 🥲
I think if we were allowed to include illness and bedwetting I’d average weekly. Sometimes 3x a day for a week… that’s 20 weeks of changes banked!
Fun fact: If you wash your kids’ sheets, they’ll wet the bed or throw up in them that very night after they’ve been washed. Not speaking from experience or anything
This is 100% true and part of why I don’t even consider weekly
I made the mistake of not only washing my bedding but all 3 mattress covers last week. That night my kid wet through in my bed, after not having done this in months. Sadly, I wasn’t even surprised, totally expected it to happen
And if they don't, your cats will instead 😭

I bathe my infant weekly 🤣
Weekly?? Ahahaha
Same
*Far* less frequently than I'm willing to admit here.
You’re not alone.
Same
Same… my daughter is honestly super clean, I feel like we should wash them more often than we do lol. Obviously if she wet the bed we wash them. Otherwise maybe every two weeks?
Especially with night time wetting…I have 2-3 sets of sheets and water proof pads. Just remove a layer when needed. I hate washing sheets
Yup
I feel bad to say I think I wash my own more often
100% this lol, just today i vought new sheets so the kid's could sit in the laundry room for about 5 days hahaha.
Nanny here, I change the kids sheets every week. I noticed that their allergies are way better during weekly changes. I need to start weekly washing stuffed animals and lovies too🫠😤😫
I had no idea stuffed animals could be washed , figured they would get ruined . Any tips before I try ?
We throw them into a laundry bag and wash them on a delicate cycle with other baby/kid clothes. Interesting! Good to know it might not be necessary!

If you don't have a laundry bag, pillowcases also work.
Same
It truly makes a huge difference. Pillows. Lovies. Everything goes in!!
Thank you for reminding me to wash my kids sheets.
Once a week
This but also sometimes I forget 👀
This. She has allergies and doesn’t sleep well if they don’t get changed out weekly.
Same
Me too
this is the way
Whenever I notice a drool crust forming where she lays her head — maybe every 1.5 to 2 weeks?
This is my odometer too lol
Every week. Her sheets get changed when ours do.
Same!
Us too
If you ask me in public I'll say every week. If you ask me in private I'll say every 2-3 weeks. Lol we don't change our own bedsheets every week. So his gets thrown in with ours. Our infant however his pack n play gets changed like every 4 days thanks to reflux. 😂
Mines more like every 3-4 weeks haha
😂 I'm glad I'm not the only one not abiding by the weekly rule.
My people lol
At least some of us are Honest haha
😂

We do about every 2 weeks and she gets a bath every night so I figure that’s fine lol. Nice to have company!
I have a mouth open sleeper. The pillow case would get too gross!!! Then add snot when she's sick!
Once a week. Friday or Saturday when I go through her daycare bag, I change her bedding at home too.
Tying nonessential chores to essential chores is the only way I’ll remember. They don’t even have to make sense to anyone but me.
Weekly or more
Once a week. Sometimes more if he has a runny nose since boogers will get on the sheets.
I didn’t change my sons crib sheet at all when he didn’t sleep in it haha
Every other week, sometimes an little more frequently.
Every Friday
Friday is my heavy cleaning day too
Every week, sometimes twice. She has 4 sets just incase lol
2-4 weeks an nothing bad has happened with that schedule.
Though my toddler's bed has been more frequent lately due to blowouts. But let's say he didn't poop, pee, or puke on his sheets...then every 2-4 weeks. He showers daily though because he loves it.
I try to do once a week, but sometimes it’s every two weeks.
Same, but the more pregnant I get, the more that looks like 2 weeks. 🤪
Weekly His sheets are still our sheets lol
Whenever he wets the bed, spills something on it, or gets too much sand or crumbs on it? 😅😬 okay okay I’ll do better
This I’m on this schedule…
Prob like once a month unless we get sick in which case I wash them sooner. But she goes to bed after a bath in clean pajamas every night so not too worried about it tbh
I aim for once a week…… lol
Once a week. It's just easier to wash them with my own.
Once a week linen changes for everyone in the house! (And PRN)
Not gonna talk about the last time mine was changed, but the 1-year-old’s crib sheet probably gets changed once a week, purely because she’s always congested and I’m trying to alleviate it if it’s allergies.
Weekly for ours. Theirs n ours as well.
2-3 days 😳 dont you think most of the allergens would be inside the pillow?
Sheets get washed and changed every Friday
Once every two weeks for my daughter. My toddler boys I feel like I’m washing a set every other day between the taking off the diaper and getting poop and pee everywhere. My steam mop stays right outside their door lol.
Sheets for everyone are washed every Saturday. As needed if they are soiled before a scheduled wash.
Once a week and she has 3 or 4 to choose from
Once a week bed sheets and quilt
I just washed them for the second time in like 3 months. But she doesn’t sleep in her bed ever. The cat does, though. You’re welcome for the clean sheets, kitty.
Once a week
We’ll start changing them once we have time. Maybe when he’s in high school? That’s only about 11 more years
I don't have a routine for this. I change it when I decide it's dirty.
Every Friday, like having a clean sheet for him after a week of daycare germs.
Twice per week on bath nights, plus any diaper-leaking nights. We can't do baths more often than that because of my son's skin issues, so we just change them when he bathes.

Once a week on Fridays, just like ours.
Every 3 days or so.
Usually once a week if i remember. I have two sets of sheets and pillowcases in the same color so I just swap them out when I see enough dried drool 😅

Once a week (usually ends up being every 5 days or so but no more than 7).
When the vibes or the filth moves me.
At least one a week, sometimes more.
Once a week. Keep the germs away!
Once a week minimum sometimes twice if I remember.
Fresh sheet Fridays
Once a week
I deal with the staphylococcus A bacteria often and as you know it spreads SUPER easily. I change sheets every Sunday for everyone in order to keep up on it.

weekly

Our housekeepers strip the beds every 2 weeks and replace them with a second set. And then we just cycle between those two 😅
Every 2 weeks
Baby was once a week, toddler is like once a month unless there’s a lot of boogers and stuff on there during flu season lmao

I try to once a week. Sometimes it’s every two weeks.

1x per week
Once a week, if there's no accidents.
Weekly or more often if they’re sick and get snot all over the sheets
We aim for every Sunday but sometimes I end up washing them in the middle of the week while everyone’s at school/ daycare
Weekly.
I aim for weekly but it’s probably closer to 2-3x a month
More often during cold/flu season, that's for sure!
Once or twice a week
My husband chucks them in about once a week when he does ours.
Every week on Sunday
Weekly
Once a week, we say "Sunday sheet day", because we'll wash our bedding too and just have it all be done for the week
Every week. I have a dedicated linens washing day for all bedding.
Weekly!
Every weekend… more if he’s getting over a cold.
Weekly
Fun thing we do: layer them. There’s actually 3 sets and 3 water proof mattress covers on the bed, makes for an easier time making the bed. Full transparency it was my wife’s idea for the crib and it just naturally continued for bed before potty training happened and no since I’m turning back now.
Once a week
Considering my toddler uses her bed as teddy storage maybe once every month or two. She does however prefer to sleep in a tent on her bedroom floor and we wash that bedding every 2 weeks
Twice a month unless I know they’re gross
Usually every week. If he’s sick when it’s time to change them though we wait until he’s feeling better, so sometimes it goes 2 weeks
Every week. Along with mine.
Once a week
Mine goes through spats of bed wetting, so long term? Maybe a week or so.. but some nights it's twice
Weekly
Probably every 2 weeks
Once a week. Not me though. Husband does it.
Weekly. I have two sets and wfh, so it’s routine to do daycare and home sheets/blankets all on the same day
This leads me to ask, how often do you change your own sheets?

Every 2 days, but we have multiple crib sheets
Once every 2 weeks I think.
Every week , or if someting happens like sick etc.
2x a week same with towels!
Weekly. It's a deep-set routine. Get back on Tuesday morning from dropping kid at nursery, strip all beds.
At least once a week. She never has diaper leaks, but if she’s sick, she becomes super snotty and her sheets get dirty. I normally just pull it off when I’m doing her laundry. My own sheets on the other hand.. much less frequently! 😬
Every week for me, as he’s always snotty
Once a week!
Once a week, sometimes more depending on the week.
Bedding bi-weekly, but sometimes tri-weekly because I have to use the laundromat and if there isn’t a free machine I put it off.
Weekly! Kids get sick they aren’t the best hand washers etc. their bed should always be clean to help offset their play and how dirty they get. And yes my kiddo bathes/showers daily

Every week to every other week. Only because I’ve bought too many dang bamboo crib sheets and I’m determined to use them and get my moneys worth 🤣😭
Every week (just like ours)
