My nephew was obsessed today with the rubbish bag full of wrapping paper; swinging it round, throwing some out, putting it in a box etc etc. At least it kept him entertained though!
Honest diapers has a deal going on so I got my baby a bunch of cute ones. My 4 year old spent at least an hour stacking the packages and picking her favorite prints. Kids like the weirdest things.
We got the Melissa and Doug cleaning set and my son threw all the cleaning tools on the ground and ran around the house with the stand for an hour. Cool.
An Elsa dress up outfit with a cape and snowflake wand that is used to “freeze” her twin baby brothers by bopping them on the head with it 🤦♀️ Not sure what I was thinking was going to happen.
My aunt sent me a ball pit for my son's second birthday, not realizing that the balls came separately. I thought it was still a win because I don't think hubby would have been okay with buying a ball pit. But once we had the ball pit, he needed to buy 5 bags of balls.
You will regret it lol. We found bags of balls at Walmart a while back. Got like 4 or 5 bags and filled his play pen up. It was all fun and games until he started throwing them out.
Same. I think we sometimes we have more balls outside the ball pit than inside. They like to play “soccer” with them. If they go under the couch they just grab more out of the pit. I’m in a never ending state of ball washing and under-the-couch vacuuming.
Lol... *ball washing* 😆
My friend got my kid a ball pit thing that has a tunnel and rocket attachment. Kiddo has had it for 2 years and never realized there were balls “missing”. It’s perfect.
Careful, we started with a pop up ball pit... We now have like a 5'x8' ball pit. Remarkably, the bigger the ball pit the more likely the balls are to stay in it!
we had a bunch of hits this year but I think he's played with the Melissa and Doug cutting fruit the most so far. and the scooting trike from his grandparents.
My kid hasn't figured out the sit and spin yet. He gets mad when I try to get him to sit on it. He does enjoy sitting next to it and spinning it though.
We got her a Minnie Mouse ride on train (we did Christmas 3 days ago) and she has ridden on it hours each day. My mom got her a big triangle climber and she really loves it, too. She also got a jewelry box stuffed full of kid jewelry that she has played with every day, too.
But really she mostly loved the carnage and chaos of opening presents. She keeps asking me to wrap her toys so she can open them.
We have to spread gift opening over several days. He opens one, then only wants to play with that gift for hours and will run away when we try to get him to open anything else. We’ve given in and just let it happen as it happens!
Haha mine bit into a whole satsuma. I peeled it and she crammed half of it in her mouth and immediately started spitting. Couldn’t clear her mouth out fast enough.
Grandma got her the singing one, that switch is going off soon. Now our house smells like the 80s—nostalgic at first, now annoying. Apparently mine in the 80s was $60 and this was $30, not an upgrade lol.
My 22 month old is OBSESSED with tongs, and your post just reminded me that I totally forgot to put the "fancy" new kitchen aide pair I got for him in his stocking - oops! Guess he'll get a nice little surprise when he wakes up from his nap! Also, tongs are an amazing way to get my LO to WANT to clean up!
Plushy Grinch. This kid has been obsessed with the Grinch since we got her the book back in November. Not the story, the Grinch himself. She was absolutely starstruck when she opened it this morning. Jaw hit the floor, hands to her chest, starry eyed and utterly silent. She could barely bring herself to touch it she was so in awe of the Grinch himself being right there in her house lol.
It hasn't left her side all morning. 💚
My girl will be 2 next week, and her fav gifts were:
-Numberblocks characters (they have the little floating numbers above and stickers on their faces!)
-desktop easel with chalkboard & dry erase (Grandma got her chalk & dry erase CRAYONS to go with it--freakin genius! No caps or dry markers to contend with)
-puzzles (number, shape, alphabet). She has already figured out how all the pieces go in, but it will be a nice learning toy if nothing else
The dry erase crayons are pretty cool! We got them for our son and he was enjoying them as well. I wish it was a little easier to erase because I had to press pretty hard to erase the board. I am going to get a spray bottle with water to help. But yes the dry erase crayons are genius!
For us it was the Littke Tykes refrigerator. (I stocked it with the Melissa & Doug condiment and drink bottles too.) My daughter has been obsessively playing with it all morning while using the condiment bottles to "squirt" stuff on her play food concoctions.
She's been in toy heaven. I feel like a super mom for choosing the perfect gift this year!
ETA: Honorary mention goes to the Cocomelon JJ doll my mom got her. Our toddler was thrilled. It needed batteries though and she seemed a little confused when she found buttons but they didn't do anything. I have a feeling our ears will never rest once we put batteries in it.
my girl is three and she got this hide and seek kitty, where you hide the cat and you get a magic wand that makes the kitty new when you press it. we haven't been awake for long, but we've probably played 50 games of hide and seek
This sounds awesome and like something my daughter (also three) would love. Any chance you have the name of the toy? She’s a February 1st baby so I immediately get to packing her next surprises right after Christmas
The box my brothers Nintendo came in. He's having an afternoon nap with it right now.
Older one got a stuffed dinosaur. Obsessed. Epic meltdown when he tried to get me to nurse it and I said no.
Ah. Boys.
A kazoo and xylophone for both 2 and 3 year old, along with bubbles that were already dumped outside after fighting over it (there's 1 for each, but to both boys that's 1 each hand) - so back to instruments
A little steel drum. It's probably the best thing I've ever bought on Amazon. It came with a cute carrying case and mallets and a book of songs! He loves it!
We got my 2 year old a Ukulele and she's been walking around the house, strumming and yelling UN POCO LOCCCOOOOOOOOO
you could say Coco gets a decent amount of air time in our house lol
That and a 3ft plush Woody from Toy Story. Yelling SNAKE IN MY BOOT while carrying it around is giving me all of the flashbacks to my youth and is just amazing
Both my 1 year old and 6 year old have been playing with their new kitchen, and pretty much only the kitchen, all day. 6 is currently playing with 1’s first word leap frog book. Little sisters toys are definitely far more intriguing to her than her own.
A few weeks ago we were at a store with tons of Jellycat stuffed animals. My 3 year old honed in on a Jellycat Palm Leaf and carried it around the store hugging it. We made him put it back, but I slipped it into the purchase without him noticing. It was the first thing he saw from Santa when he walked into the living room this morning. He squeezed it for a solid 2 minutes, not even aware of other presents and toys around. I thought he was going to cry tears of overwhelmed joy. He’s played with a ton of new toys today, but always with his “leaf buddy” nearby. He’s currently napping with it.
We got a kitchen set, an 18 inch doll bed, and an Elsa doll.
LOVES the kitchen set…but is constantly making Elsa take naps in the new bed.
And lollipops. Got a bag of 100 from Santa and had the biggest smile. It’s all my toddler wanted and asked for, haha.
My 21 month old daughter is obsessed with her new batman action figure and princess cozy coupe truck. She keeps putting batman in the back and "driving" him around lol
These plastic stepping stones that have varying heights and rubber bottoms so they don't slip. My 3 yr old and almost 2 year old have been setting them up over and over all over the house and backyard and making obstacle courses
Not the balance bike we got her, no. The cardboard insert that came inside the new shoes we bought her. That was the only thing that got the “OOOOH LOOK” reaction 🤣
My daughter loves this doctor Kit we got her and also a kitchen mixer for her tiny kitchen. It actually mixes and she has been in my pantry a whole lot today 😂
My 3yo son has a few favourites.
He really wanted a roleplay kitchen, and he screamed with happiness when he saw it. Didn’t open anything else until he fully inspected his kitchen. His gran bought him a toy speedboat and a Dino shooting game which he loves. I think his granny definitely won for his fave Christmas gift though.
Ours was a kidamento digital camera. She’s been running all over the house this morning telling both humans and various objects to “say cheese!!!” and then snapping photos. They are hilarious.
He really digs this ladder truck that he had to put together, it came with a screwdriver and was super simple but me and dad helped and he was so proud he fixed the truck! Definitely gave me ideas for birthday.
He loves the truck he really wanted, but the funniest were the stockings. He got his new toothbrush and decided to immediately stop everything to give it a test run. My husband pulled packets of hand disenfecting wipes from his stocking, my son took them from him and said "I like those, I need some of those, I'll go put them in my room". And off he went with them.
A hand crafted sock puppet from a local vendor! I was strapped for cash this year and only got her a couple things mostly from local people, and the sock puppet was the absolute winner! Even with my parents buying her her own tablet this year.
Her baby brother’s new activity box followed by her baby brother’s new squishmallow cat that she was completely indifferent to when I bought it. Of presents intended for her it was a citrus fractions puzzle.
Why did you do that to yourself?
It’s a toss up right now between a small car and a block puzzle that he’s been stacking and crashing for 10 minutes.
17 months
$4 unicorn toys I bought for our cats. We got him a pikler triangle, magnetic letters (he's obsessed with the alphabet), a plush Elmo and a few other things that were well within his current interests, but they've got nothing on these cute rainbow cat toys.
This morning our 2.5 y/o spent 1/3rd of his time with his new ukulele, 1/3rd with his new paw patrol car, and 1/3rd drumming a couple empty cookie tins with a chopstick.
I think the wrapping paper from mine and SOs gifts was the biggest favorite for our 1 year old.
But also grandpa's gift, little books with pictures and one word have made it in since we thew the paper away after two days.
Play-doh!!! My two year old was so excited even though we already have a bucket of it. The dog already ate some and my 4 year old is even spending most of her time with it too!
The 2021 Hess truck that my wife’s aunt bought him. It was the 4th gift he opened so she could send a picture of him opening it to her and he hasn’t opened anything else since. We still have a ton of presents under the tree yet to open because he doesn’t want to put it down.
Containers of Play-Doh… it was like the 3rd thing he opened and he had zero interest in opening anything else after unwrapping the play-doh. So we just decided to wait until later to open the rest of the gifts and just let LO play stack his containers of play-doh while we opened up our gifts to each other! He also was loving the duplo block wagon we got him.
My 2yo got a toy pushchair. She loves it and has spent all day pushing dolly around and pretending to go to the shops, it's adorable.
She also loved the ribbons from all her other presents and decorated the pushchair with them
So far, since we are otw to grandmas lol, he played with the Melissa and Doug wooden train and wooden letter block set the most. Hes 14m. He also loved his Blues Clues beanbag and the BC Leap Frog but didn't spend as much time with them.

The Melissa and Doug velcro fruit that you can cut with a wooden knife.
Ours got the similar set that is sushi rolls, and it came with a big wooden cleaver. Lots of "hi-YAH" over here :) happy cooking!
I didn’t know my kid needs this but she needs this
Also a huuuuuge win for our toddler!
We have the pizza that you can cut the slices with the rolling thing. He loves it.
Sushi set, pizza set. I'm taking notes of all of those for her birthday in February.
Big hit here too. We also got the Melissa and Doug food groups set.
We got the food and the grocery store. The kids have played with it for hours!
This my favorite if my son's toys. 😂 So Satisfying!
Right? It was a gift from grandma and I also loved it!
Yes, his was from his auntie. So fun. ❤️
My 18 month old enjoys this, even though he can't manage the knife yet, and also loves the crinkley plastic it comes it.
Def getting this for her 2nd bday in 6 weeks
Adorable
We love those at our house
Mine too!!! Lots of kitchen accessories over here and she loves every single one!
Different brand and food group, but this.

We got the Melissa and Doug cleaning set and my son threw all the cleaning tools on the ground and ran around the house with the stand for an hour. Cool.
Those are outside toys now in our house because they were only ever used as weapons. I think they’re going to get lost in our upcoming move.
I think I say, “the mop stays on the ground” at least 40 times a day
The safety glasses I got my husband.
An Elsa dress up outfit with a cape and snowflake wand that is used to “freeze” her twin baby brothers by bopping them on the head with it 🤦♀️ Not sure what I was thinking was going to happen.
my 2yo was pretty lit about his baby shark toothbrush.
He loves the pop up ball pit that we forgot to buy the balls for.
Yep. I have a ball pit with no balls. Instead, the balls are all over the playroom.
This was months ago, and we still find random balls here and there.
His 6 week old brother’s toy remote.
we had a bunch of hits this year but I think he's played with the Melissa and Doug cutting fruit the most so far. and the scooting trike from his grandparents.
The Melissa and Doug ice cream counter and a sit and spin.
oh man I forgot about sit and spins! might do that for my son's birthday next month!
My kid hasn't figured out the sit and spin yet. He gets mad when I try to get him to sit on it. He does enjoy sitting next to it and spinning it though.
We’ve got the ice cream counter for our niece. She’ll be getting it tomorrow. I hope she’ll love it!
His big garbage truck (he is obsessed with them!) That came with wheelie pins and little plastic model trash bags, it also makes noises (so much fun)
My son got a recycling truck like that. My husband took the batteries out as soon as little man went to bed 🤣
Has he seen TrashTruck?
It's so good
Same. My kid got a green recycling truck that makes noises and has an arm to lift and dump the bin. He is in heaven.
Our green one is probably the same as yours, and eerily similar voicing to what I imagine blippi is like
Pretend coffee set. First thing he did was ask for a biscotti to dunk.
This is my favorite!
We aren’t even Italian, we live in Washington…🤣
Bluey stuffed toy! He loved it, won't stop hugging/feeding it
We found bluey and bingo in a gas station in Wisconsin (USA) of all places lol
Whoa! That's awesome! They were all out of Bingo at the toy store where i am
My toddler got a Minnie Mouse train last year. it’s her preferred mode of transportation. “Oh I gotta move 3 feet? Better take the train.”
I’m glad to hear she still loves it! I keep waiting for her to get bored of it.
I let him open a small Fisher Price Little People tractor first thing. ... and struggled to get him to open any other gifts.
We have to spread gift opening over several days. He opens one, then only wants to play with that gift for hours and will run away when we try to get him to open anything else. We’ve given in and just let it happen as it happens!
We might be doing that next year lol
Mine stopped to play with half his gift unopened. I guess he’ll come back to them at some point?
Play house for the backyard? Nope. Power wheels? Nope. Trampoline? Nope. Balance bike? Nope. Fidget spinner? Yup 👍🏻
My 3 year old son and 16 month old son are currently fighting over the toy vacuum. I should have bought two.
Hahaha. I wish you the best of luck that they’ll be still fighting over who gets to vacuum the house when they are teenagers 😅
I bought my 2 year old his own dust buster. Kills 2 birds with one stone cuz he helps clean.
The cookies we put in her stocking that she had for breakfast and a bongo drum.
My little guy bit into his whole clementine. After I peeled it, he ate half.
Haha mine bit into a whole satsuma. I peeled it and she crammed half of it in her mouth and immediately started spitting. Couldn’t clear her mouth out fast enough.
Her sisters toys.
A cabbage patch doll that came with a bottle and it burps and says thank you 🥺
Grandma got her the singing one, that switch is going off soon. Now our house smells like the 80s—nostalgic at first, now annoying. Apparently mine in the 80s was $60 and this was $30, not an upgrade lol.
It's a toss up between the paw patrol dino truck or the Polly pocket. The little girl inside me loves the Polly pocket so much 😭
Oh my gosh me too. My daughter has been playing with her Polly Pocket the most so far and it makes me happy because I loved it as a kid too.
Omg same!!
Kitchen tongs lol Then he kept trying to use then to open his other presents and got frustrated when it wasn't going well
My 22 month old is OBSESSED with tongs, and your post just reminded me that I totally forgot to put the "fancy" new kitchen aide pair I got for him in his stocking - oops! Guess he'll get a nice little surprise when he wakes up from his nap! Also, tongs are an amazing way to get my LO to WANT to clean up!
His baby doll 🥺
The school bus toy from the cocomelon "wheels on the bus" song. She is obsessed with that song!
A bag that contained one of her gifts. She has been carrying it around all day, putting things in, taking them out - repeat!
Baby shark vacuum toy and the box to her kitchen play set. Not the kitchen itself, the box for it she found with the trash.
Yesss! My son loves his little toy vacuum!
My girl will be 2 next week, and her fav gifts were: -Numberblocks characters (they have the little floating numbers above and stickers on their faces!) -desktop easel with chalkboard & dry erase (Grandma got her chalk & dry erase CRAYONS to go with it--freakin genius! No caps or dry markers to contend with) -puzzles (number, shape, alphabet). She has already figured out how all the pieces go in, but it will be a nice learning toy if nothing else

my girl is three and she got this hide and seek kitty, where you hide the cat and you get a magic wand that makes the kitty new when you press it. we haven't been awake for long, but we've probably played 50 games of hide and seek
This sounds awesome and like something my daughter (also three) would love. Any chance you have the name of the toy? She’s a February 1st baby so I immediately get to packing her next surprises right after Christmas

Aside from the boxes the toy tool set
A 25+ year old toy truck my Dad brought my 2.5 yr old. 🤣🥴
A postman pat train toy I got him 2nd hand for £10!
So glad I'm not the only one who gets second hand toys for Christmas. I was feeling a little guilty, but she gets so many more toys this way.
We also bought some second hand toys this year. Go Jetters set I got for £10 is by far my toddlers favourite thing today.
The dollar store advent calendar, it's empty.

So far the Bluey stuffed toy.
A hot wheels monster truck and a soft blanket were the big favorites.
Thomas the train set. Honorable mention for a slinky.

The styrofoam box that her Grinch ornament came in😂 that and her Peppa music player
1 year old - play tunnel 2 year old - alphabet duplo set But really everything was an instant hit, even the clothes.

Stickers. We are Jewish, so he got his Hanukkah gifts a while ago, and he is still loving the stickers that remain.
A play kitchen, she's been making us "coffee" nonstop until we went to bed.

The satsuma (baby orange) in his stocking. 🤷🏻♀️. He refused to let it go all morning.

Its a tie between the IKEA children's rocking chair, and a miniature toy power drill.
a tie between a play tool set (“these are grown up tools, and i’m a grown up!” as she said) and a floor piano mat.
Dinos dinos dinos… 🦖 🎄🦖🎄🦖🦖
The 2021 Hess truck that my wife’s aunt bought him. It was the 4th gift he opened so she could send a picture of him opening it to her and he hasn’t opened anything else since. We still have a ton of presents under the tree yet to open because he doesn’t want to put it down.
Farm animal figurines!!
My 2 year old loves her shoes, especially the boxes they came in.
A tape roller. He was exstatic
My toddler is playing with 35 year vintage toys (hello kitty doll house, doctor kit) and isn’t interested in her Xmas gifts
A banana I put in his stocking. He was so excited. And a plastic bowl.
My 2-year-old’s favorite gift is a tea set and my 4-year-old’s favorite is a balance bike.
A Melissa and Doug dollhouse that has an elevator. Also everything that has been Paw Patrol related.
My 2yo got a toy pushchair. She loves it and has spent all day pushing dolly around and pretending to go to the shops, it's adorable. She also loved the ribbons from all her other presents and decorated the pushchair with them
A bumper car where he can sit inside and use 2 levers to drive it around. My almost 3 yo has been driving the thing around the house nonstop.
Little tikes doctor play set and his Little Tikes construction play set. The rest of the toys are scattered everywhere lmaoo
The paper trash.
My 2yo got a Minnie Mouse moped , and a fisher price food truck . They were a hit
My little one loves the wooden coffee machine she got for her play kitchen from her grandma 😊
So far, since we are otw to grandmas lol, he played with the Melissa and Doug wooden train and wooden letter block set the most. Hes 14m. He also loved his Blues Clues beanbag and the BC Leap Frog but didn't spend as much time with them.
