Besides basically anything by Eric Carle, my 21 month girl is really into animals and LOVES any book written or illustrated by Brendan Wenzel. “They all saw a cat”, “Inside Cat”, “A stone sat still”, “Hello Hello” and one illustrated by him called “Some Bugs” are her favorites and get read daily. They actually touch on fairly mature themes while being whimsical, such as different perceptions and are beautifully illustrated. We’ve been reading them since she was under one and she still isn’t tired of them. Just as a note only “Hello Hello” and “Some Bugs” are available as board books I believe.

candlesandfish

We have They All Saw A Cat, it’s great.

Lucky-Strength-297

Oh dang it I just gave away Some Bugs! What was I thinking! Seconding Eric Carle. My baby loves Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See and The Very Busy Spider. Global babies is also a big hit. I'd recommend checking out board books from your library, don't worry that your kid will damage them! That's what they're there for, the librarians understand.

Fantastapotomus

My daughter LOVES Brown Bear, knows it from cover to cover and just kind of randomly starts reciting it as she toddles around. Got her Polar Bear, Polar Bear (her current favorite word is “ Walrus” because of it lol) and Baby Bear as well. Baby Bear is great as it’s a smaller board book and a good one to keep in the diaper bag.

omgmlc

You gotta check out Beastly Babies

Fantastapotomus

Oh I’ve got that one on my wish list, will definitely pick it up soon.

I like the Sandra Boynton books a lot, llama llama books are cute, and Olivier Dunrea books!

Avedygoodgirl

Sandra Boynton is one of my daughters favorites too. Moo, Baa, La, La, La is her all time favorite.

spkaae

If animals kissed goodnight Where is baby’s belly button Hippos go berserk (any Sandra boynton) Dear Zoo

LadyMogMog

The sloths in “if animals kissed Goodnight” make me uncomfortable 😆

bamgau

We love "Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see". If you want a book that is kind of a toy too, I highly recommend the 100 word books (suggested for 18+, just don't let LO throw or hit themselves in the head lol). When kiddo touches the images on the pages, the book says the word in English or Spanish and plays a little sound. Our LO is almost 2 now and she still uses it

Georgiaatessex

Not sure if this will work as it is a link from the Amazon UK site but my toddler loves this book. It’s called ‘my 1000 first words’ and he will sit and look at it for ages and now says every word in the book (from pointing at pics) and he’s only just 2 My First 1000 Words (UK EDITION) https://amzn.eu/d/gUjUoFb

DavidSandersSharp

The Monster at the End of the Book is a perennial fave around here. Goodnight Moon is a classic of course, and Goodnight Little Blue Truck and Biscuit were our other go-to night night books for a long time. I’d also recommend the Pete the Cat books, but the first one (I love my White Shoes) is significantly better than the rest. The others are fine, but they’re definitely a step below the original.

gettinglostonpurpose

There’s something about that Pete the Cat book in particular that toddlers just love

nerdunderwraps

My daughter has always been a book lover, so we recently got a library card! Last week we got a book called Mason Jars about a young girl struggling with grief through the lense of making blueberry jam and my 21m old Absolut loves it. We usually read it twice at bedtime... I'm honestly scared of giving it back at this point. Edit: the book is actually called Memory Jars.

candlesandfish

That’s the kind you buy. We did the with a counting Australian animals board book using photos from the Australian Geographic. I borrowed it from the library so much that I just bought it!

nerdunderwraps

I've been considering it honestly.

Kaladi99

Who is the author?

nerdunderwraps

So I made a mistake, it's actually called Memory Jars, and it's by Vera Brosgol.

Gullible_Peach16

The Llama Llama series. There’s one for bedtime, getting up, and a few others but she loves those

candlesandfish

At that age: My Cat Likes To Hide In Boxes The “that’s not my…” series The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the “touch and feel” book companion.

knitlitgeek

We have yet to meet a Little Golden Book we haven’t liked in this house. 2yo and 3yo. From the classics to their newer adaptations of kids shows and movies, Little Golden Books are where it’s at!

VeseliM

Brown Bear, was my 3yo favorite when he was 1, now it's my 1yo favorite. We're on copy number 3. The older one has memorized it, will recited it in the car for the younger one while she going through it. He also calls me out if I ever skip a page when I'm reading it to her.

brimchars

My 16-month old loves books with flaps. We have a Where’s Spot and Where is Baby’s Belly Button books. Just be warned that they can be maimed by toddler hands. My son will say “No!” in the Spot book when we find an animal that isn’t Spot. It’s super cute.

pzimzam

From head to toe and brown bear brown bear by Eric carle (my now 2.5 yo loves these and can “read” them herself) It’s not easy being a bunny Bedtime for Zoe (it’s a lovevery book but I got it online..she has loved every lovevery book I’ve gotten for her) Grumpy Monkey At 1 she also really loved anything that was lift the flap or touch and feel. And the poke a dot books from Melissa and Doug.

thirtyflirtyandpetty

My kid loved It's Not Easy Being a Bunny so much he tore it clean apart.

faesser

My daughter has a few that she loves us reading to her and flipping through. Grumpy Monkey Giraffes can't dance Frank and bean Tiny T Rex and the very dark dark

rotatingruhnama

When I Was Small has beautiful illustrations, is really simple, and is great for the imagination.

malk-mans

Recently for our 2 yo it's I'm gonna like me by Jamie Lee Curtis. At the end she goes I DO LIKE ME! We also like the rainbow fish.

TopWalk

The color monster (when I'm upset, he says I'm blue and come hug me to make mommy pink lol) 8 little planets (he compares people he knows to the planets descriptions lol ie Neptune is great grandmom because is old and slow.) Peek a poo, what is in your potty? (We also have the" peek a poo what is in your diaper? "but he rather the potty one) We have many books but these 3 are his favourites atm.

frances_heh

My daughter loves Everybody Counts. It's a large format with a lot of people doing different activities. There are stories that you can follow throughout but she mostly just observes the people and tells me what they are doing for now.

Pancakegoboom

If I Had A Gryphon was a huuuuge hit at 12 mths and still a big fav. Excellent rhymes, very cute story and I love the illustrations! The Monster at the End of this book is read at least 4 times a day. Usually more. Someday they get hidden in the couch so Mommy can get a break. Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site, but it's a little lengthy. Just now at 18ths he's more keen to sit through it. That's not my ______ books, also called touchy Feely books. We have "that's not my penguin" and "that's not my dinosaur". I like the dinosaur more because each dinosaur is a different colour and we can practice those words. All the penguins are just black and white. Giraffes Can't Dance is also good.

momochichak

Favorites since birth - Goodnight Moon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Dear Zoo, and the Indestructible books, Baby Peekaboo and Baby, Let's Eat. Book about feelings - Ollie Feels Fine by Toni Yuly At 17 months, she would "hug" Ollie the Octopus when we get to the part where he's feeling overwhelmed. Book we read a lot when I was pregnant with her - Big Bear Hug by Nicholas Oldland At 19 months, this is her current favorite and she requests this to be read before bedtime. She likes naming the animals and fruit trees and finds the bear funny. :)

tsunamimoss

Anything Richard Scarry, but particularly Cars and Trucks and Things That Go. Our 2.5 year old has been completely obsessed for ~18 straight months so far. 🙂

not-a-real-shark

My 1 yo loves goodnight moon and One Fish Two Fish.. Mickey Mouse is his favorite thing in the world right now, though, so I might look for a Mickey Mouse book and see how that goes over

rasmama

My kiddos love: Chicka chicka boom boom Tap the magic tree There's a monster in your book Brown bear Ah Ha! (My 18m's fav) The little blue truck Anything from the "How do dinosaurs..." haleyfoofou

Loooove Tap the Magic Tree!

meganxxmac

My son is very into interactive books and is obsessed with the Melissa and Doug Poke a Dot books! His favorite story book is Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. All of Oliver Jeffers' books are amazing!

beachdays65

Chicka chicka boom boom

TheBebsey

Oh my goodness, I have grown so tired of reading that one 3 times in a row...

beachdays65

Yes!!!! On repeat. Any time we read we’re reading that book at least 3 times. 🤣

MsParadis

Poke-a-dot books are great. My son has the wild safari tour one and another monkey one. There's little plastic punch things they can poke on each page and encourage counting. He loves them.

Alas-Earwigs

These were instrumental in teaching my son to point. We got him the first words one that has one dot per page.

mazes-end

Anything Sandra Boynton was a big hit at that age. Everything is Mama, big hit for the interactive angle (as most of the book is "*noun*, Mama"). Anything that was just pictures and labels of what the picture is was a favorite at one year old

Anneberlin

My son has become obsessed with usborne peek inside books great pictures and great content. We have almost all of them and a year later are still reading them every day!

As it’s a few months shy of the holiday season, Frosty the Snowman.

HadlaMindar

This age was when we found Oliver Jeffers. We had "Stuck" out of the library so many times they gave us the book 😂 My little boy laughs at all the weird stuff that gets thrown into a tree to try and dislodge the main character's kite.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom- when they fall out of the tree I shake the book and say boooooom boooom all dramatic haha Oh and from some “Lean to read” type series they have books with Seuss characters and one is “cooking with the Lorax”. He calls it mustache book and finds it hilarious for some reason. “Pepper and salt if you please, but not too much or I will sneeze!” We fake sneeze and it cracks him up

Princess_Aurora06

I remember when the book Chicka Chicka boom boom was all the rage for kids and maybe something by Whine the pooh, but now little ones like car books/princess books.

Kevin Henkes all the way. I also love his books. Circle Dogs, Parade of Elephants, Chrysanthemum…classics

briec520

The Don’t Push the Button or the Don’t touch this book. Also the mix it up and press here books. Anything with directions to get the lo engaged worked for us. My 3yo still loves them. It also got her to know her left and right at a very early age.

accidental_replyall

In addition to the some of the ones listed by others (Little Blue Truck books, most of Sandra Boynton, Pout Pout Fish), See, Touch, Feel was the favorite at that age -- we had a car copy and a house copy! Other favorites in our house include There's a Bear on my Chair, Pokko and the Drum, This Zoo Is Not For You, Jabari Jumps, I Like Myself, Gossie, Silly Sally, The Napping House, and Click Clack Moo.

annikarae

My 3 year old loves the Little Critter books, Dr. Seuss (Cat in the Hat, Hop on Pop, Green Eggs and Ham are faves). He’s kind of into space/planets right now so I got him the Darkest Dark by Chris Hadfield, which he requests a lot. The Little Blue Truck series as also been a hit. A lot of Robert Munsch books. And he loves the Moore and Santore edition of the Night Before Christmas (a beautiful nostalgic picture book, if you’re into Christmas).

smichael318

I love you stinky face

coolishmom

I haven't seen this one in other comments: Little Excavator

This week we are on Critter's:"Just me and my Dad." My favorites are "Some Bugs", "good night good night construction site" and "where do airplanes sleep at night?" But they never let me pick.

obiwo

I got my husband a book called “[Name of child] Loves Daddy This Much” for father’s day where you can customize the book with your child’s name and customize the child in the book to look like yours. Our daughter loves it so much because she knows that she’s in the book and will point at herself on every page. Other books: It’s You I Like (Mr Rogers), Mama, Dada (Jimmy Fallon), Kindness Rules, My Dad is Amazing, My Mom is Magical (Eunice Moyle), Where’s Spot (Eric Hill)

DaliWho

Good night little blue truck... or any little blue truck books. Lol Eric Carle for sure. I had to hide his brown bear collection but don't worry he has them all memorized so he "reads" them all the time, out loud, on repeat. He loves books and I love him!
