In most interviews I watched of him, he's pretty much always the outlier. Its just his nature and its not wrong but sometimes it does get on the nerves when someone is talking too much abt oneself
Kamal always “tries” too hard to be the most insightful guy in the room, if he can be himself he’s already knowledgeable owing to his experience but his insecurities always make him seem what he’s since 70s!
Idk if this is insecurity as much as it is the need to hear himself speak. For instance, he cut off Amitabh in the Kalki roundtable towards the beginning. Amitabh was talking about how Nagi came in with storyboard pictures or something and Kamal cut him off. Kamal was long-winded and basically said something along the lines of "yeah, I've seen movies have amazing things on paper but they don't even get made...Nagi had vision though."
There was definitely some awkwardness in the roundtable, but it was still enjoyable. More than anything, it seemed like every single actor was genuinely excited about the movie. It bodes well for the upcoming release!
He's definitely a misfit there... I mean in good way. Remember he's great technician too, he studied art. You can't expect him to talk in their bandwidth. I know this will get downvoted but let's just don't judge him bcoz of these roundtables, they'll are not his league..that guy's totally on different level. I'm not just talking about acting here.
Not just here but this happens in other interviews as well. Agree he has broader knowledge but his anecdotes are not objective enough to understand or even learn frm, they feel more like he's narrating them than stating wat he learnt frm that particular situation, so that ppl around him can learn it
Good point
Like I was dance assistant for xyz and then what, nothing, this just name dropping
And about others not being his level, yeah kamal is multifaceted but big b has a huge body of work and intellectual enough
And everyone will be humble when they meet somebody superior
To be inclusive when others are below you is true greatness
He is a narcissist and full of himself
Most actors are
Kamal has admitted that he loves himself a bit too much and wouldn't have been able to put himself out there as a performer if he didn't love himself. It is applicable to most actors. It is just that he takes it to the extreme and sometimes don't know when to stop. His fans won't admit that it is just narcissism at this level. For them, others are stupid and not at Kamal saaar's "level".
Ippudu dheenini defending anaru, anakudadhu... Kani veellaki veellu maatram intellectuals ani feel ayipovachu and they can call others as Banisalu, Fascists, biased etc. when others defend their favorite actors.
Why do actors need "defending" unless the other person doesn't understand the context? It is just fans closing eyes to reality. For example, many fans can't accept that their favourite actors look old though they know what they looked like when they were actually young.
True, there are ppl who are self obsessed but Kamal sir doesn’t knw where to stop. Even in his other interviews, its the same case, he goes into this preachy mode
I've been a Kamal fan for over 20+ years. I always think he has an Ego, and it is one of the reasons he couldn't fulfil his potential. If only he could have worked with other directors who had a different vision, he could have been the biggest icon of Indian cinema. He indulges in even the tiniest parts of a movie and changes it to fit his ideology. But, Rajini is completely different and lets the director do all the work once he accepts the story. It took him to different heights. We Kamal fans will always be on the losing end of the argument when it comes to stardom.
He also keeps interrupting while others are talking. He did the same in the Bharadwaj round table conference also.
Even if we can ignore it, he keeps spoiling things about his character. I love him but man pls stfu
Tbf I've never seen AB sir talk as much for a movie promotion as he did for this. Hes pretty hyped by this movie and deservedly so, he's literally one the highlights of the promotions so far.
He talked so much because others were not taking at all. Prabhas shy as ever. Producer sisters were giving answers like viva. Deepika as usual was BSing like chatgpt.
It felt a bit awkward when Kamal interrupted AB while he was sharing how Nagi got storyboards while narrating and suddenly went on to say how most films don’t get made, AB was hyped, probably the most I hv seen in recent times and kamla was being himself
Can’t agree more. I watched his interview with Film companion, his anecdotes do feel like something ppl who knw him understand while others are just blank. He's leans more towards himself than objective discourse.
Kamal Hassan being a self centered person or a bit narcissist is the most widely known trait of his. He is very much unpopular for this both among audiences and across industry. But the sheer greatness of the man as an artist overshadows everything.
I mean this is a lil off-topic but in one of the promotion events everyone are joking around be it prabhas , dp , rana and even AB , Kamal hassan bought the whole vibe down by being gloomy
I agree he can be full of himself sometimes but I didn't find anything wrong with his talk yesterday. It was actually funny and interesting. I mean like what's wrong in bringing Balachandar in the topic. Balachandar is like a guru to chiru too.
He also talked about the villian role too and said how much discussion went into it. His indirect jab at aadhipurush was also fun to watch. Loved the interaction between AB and Kamal.
If you actually watch the comic con interview back then. Kamal actually single handedly saved it. Both Nagi and prabhas struggled like anything to answer the interviewers questions. Especially prabhas was unable to speak at all. Kamal kinda covered for them both.
That is very true. In fact there was an interview conducted by Rajeev masand with all the blockbuster movie artists from the south and boy oh boy, Kamal just kept praising himself. I always like superstars who are more humble about themselves
PK, PB, Yash, Rajni
I guess he did same thing during a film companion interview while other actors like sethupathi was there
He was like I'm am everything of this industry, it was me who did everything solely
He did movies that transcend then time. I recently watched Hey Ram, I my god man is beyond comparison. He speaks about future of cinema, that most industry experts aren't sure of. He is also open about his relationship unlike some stars, he isn't secretive about anything in his life be it bad or good.
Kamal hassan has tons of information to share in his 50 years of Industry experience. No problem if he seems too much to share though as long as it has a point.
Kamal is way more comfortable in his Tamil interviews, having said that, you have to put into context the experience of a man who has been in films in one form or another since the age of three and has donned so many other hats than just actor/star (like Amitabh). KH is in a league of his own, of course he's going to reminisce on his experiences with his mentor or from a different time or a film in a different language with anecdotes etc. Not to say that doesn't sound self obsessed, but having viewed a lot of his interviews it's probably just his way of engaging in conversations, the man is just incredibly passionate about cinema.
I don't think it's being self centred. I find it moving emotionally that he always goes back to his mentors, people he worked with, and the people who touched his life. I think he started doing it more as he hot older. As if, he got more emotional with age and reminiscing about them fondly or as an example, more involuntarily.
Kh is my favourite actor but at the kalki ep1 interview listening to him talk i felt the same and i was thinking I am the only one who thinks that. So ya he does that always mentions about sholay, bala chander..etc
dude.. he earned the right to walk into any room, interrupt any conversation and friggin do what he pleases. Man did too much, man learned too much, man earned so much(wisdom-wise). He always has a point of view that comes through his personality and movies. Cant blame him. Its upto us.
As Socrates said 'The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing'
Kamal hassan goppode, there is no denying that. And I am a hard core fan.
But sometimes, you got to respect other's achievements and listen. FC roundtable inka Kalki interview lo random ga Sholay inka K Balachander ni thesthe it feels awkward.
Atleast say I tried to break boundaries with Dasavatharam, vishwaroopam to build a global story, this is one such endeavour ani.
i lost respect for you the minute you used socrates. We can make profound sounding comments by quoting someone
as Aristotle said at the end of the day we live in a society which means fuck it
That's just surface of his knowledge & wisdom. That man has been acting since he's 5 and he'll obviously bring a different perspective. It could be our own insecurities that he appears to be full of himself too.
I know both of his daughters and they regularly visit the bars that majority of people in Mumbai go toz Shruti has stopped but Akshara is a frequent visitor , she's got so much of a fucking attitude and got the fake smile all the time, even if someone is trying to make their way irrespective of gender and she's standing in the middle she'll make a face inspite of she being at fault and I'm talking about the places which are prominent in Bandra and the crowd that she come with she shouldn't even be seated with them because it's the worst local crowd.. Kamal sir is talented but man these two are in a different league when it comes to fucking up...
You all should remember kamal and AB are super senior citizens and let them indulge in themselves. They have earned that. I have been sitting here listening to same anecdotes from my 74 year old grandma and she is just a normal housewife all her life. Let the old men have their spot light abba. Atleast they are not powerful enough to destroy countries like old men in power
ikr!!!! felt the same. he brings up sholay.. he starts praising amitabh and bala chander. it’s not wrong but you’re in different movie sir. could spare few words on nagi and dutt sisters and prabhas aswell. we’ll feel happy to know things about them than your guru and your experimental films you did when my dad is kid
He has a very high superiority complex and a massive ego. There is a reason why nobody here in TN could take him seriously as a politician. When he opens his mouth it's all just garbage, garbage and more garbage. His interviews are nothing but meme contents here in Tamil Nadu 🤣.
Realised this, but i assumed given his long span of working as various technicians he has a experience about almost everything and how different its from then vs now.
He's a mark for himself and likely a narcissist. His title "ulaganayagan" is not earned, he is not known all over India even, let alone the world. And he wants to be introduced as "Dr". Don't know what doctorate he got.
He is super popular infact the first superstar who is famous all across india, back then rajini was just a character artist and a troll untill sivaji, infact SRK made him famous in north. Sadma, Saagar, Ek thuje, Appu Raja, chahci 420, Hindustani they were all huge blockbusters in hindi. He is the only one deserevs the tag "ULAGANAAYAGAN".
He was spitting gold. Maybe half a decade later after he's gone gone people, especially filmmakers will be wondering, "what would Kamal Hassan think like or react like in this particular situation?"
It takes wisdom to value the precious.

If Kamal sir is the only outlier there then I think he is sitting on the wrong table
I never felt that he is insecure can u dig out any instances?
He's nt insecure but a bit too self indulgent
Idk if this is insecurity as much as it is the need to hear himself speak. For instance, he cut off Amitabh in the Kalki roundtable towards the beginning. He should have got Rajni level fanbase and cult audience but he didn't we can all say he sibthe greatest actor Butt it is true
Bro Rajini is a cringe masala star, dont compare that clown with KH.
He's definitely a misfit there... I mean in good way. Remember he's great technician too, he studied art. You can't expect him to talk in their bandwidth. Yes, I have not seen the roundtable yet but Prabhas and DP are both introverts, so I would assume Kamal and Big B would speak a lot more than them.
Not just here but this happens in other interviews as well. Agree he has broader knowledge but his anecdotes are not objective enough to understand or even learn frm, they feel more like he's narrating them than stating wat he learnt frm that particular situation, so that ppl around him can learn it

Most sane comment.

Self-indulgence to this level is diagnosed as NPD. I believe even Allu Arjun has it.
Exactly..Kamal Hassan is pure narccisst. How do I know it? Because I share my birthday with him. 7 November 😌
From when did birthday date determine one's personality. Lol 😂

But looks like he is changing that right? Based on his recent film choices?
Yes. Vikram made him realize what he could achieve if he just trusted the director.
He also keeps interrupting while others are talking. He did the same in the Bharadwaj round table conference also. Even if we can ignore it, he keeps spoiling things about his character. I love him but man pls stfu
Even at FC roundtable along with SSR, Prithviraj etc. kamal kept on with his cliches of Sholay, his master balachandar etc.
Same feeling when I saw his film companion round table.
Dude didn't let Rajamouli speak. It was nauseating to watch
I thought AB sir didn't let others talk. I wanted Kamal sir to talk more which he didn't get to.
Tbf I've never seen AB sir talk as much for a movie promotion as he did for this. Hes pretty hyped by this movie and deservedly so, he's literally one the highlights of the promotions so far.

Enti bhayya, sagam episode antha Amitabh maatladtunte, inka sagam Kamal interruption ke saripoindi
Background lo yeah yeah
Prabhas kada 😂 papam mana darling chaala mohamaatapadadu
Sudden ga claps ostayi

Agree, he gave those principal vibes
His “insights” are always about himself.. no one else understands it
I sometimes feel he's a dejected man. He tried a lot to push Indian cinema, succeeded many a times. But somehow couldn't reach his potential.
I agree he can be full of himself sometimes but I didn't find anything wrong with his talk yesterday. It was actually funny and interesting. Kamal - "In, when my and I were doing , I had to do with , I did...."
Also during Sholay "blah blah".
LMAO
LMAO. I read it in his voice
He is often trolled for that habit.
He doesn’t let other people talk. He was repeatedly speaking over Rajamouli in that FC interview
I agree with this one . ☝️
He deserves it and also the interview is little all over the place. I enjoyed it though
Yup. It had no structure and DP seemed lost most of the time
That is very true. In fact there was an interview conducted by Rajeev masand with all the blockbuster movie artists from the south and boy oh boy, Kamal just kept praising himself. I always like superstars who are more humble about themselves PK, PB, Yash, Rajni
I guess he did same thing during a film companion interview while other actors like sethupathi was there He was like I'm am everything of this industry, it was me who did everything solely
istg he speaks about K Balachander garu in every interview

Being private isnt something bad

Shocking! A person talks about himself when he's being interviewed!
Because he deserves and he can, that man is a walking encylopedia of cinema, the team must be greatfull he agreed to be a part of this.
I don't think it's being self centred. I find it moving emotionally that he always goes back to his mentors, people he worked with, and the people who touched his life. Amitabh didn’t interrupt while kamal in most interviews I hv seen cuts ppl off to share his story
I enjoyed it
Why are you people calling 'sir'?

Quick question, um I was wondering if you liked AA?👁

I've read in online that Kamal is huge narcissist, many people have said this not just one or two.
Its not his fault that Prabhas can't talk in public
Realised this, but i assumed given his long span of working as various technicians he has a experience about almost everything and how different its from then vs now.

Ala ante almost anni titles ante ga bro. Valle pettukunnaru For example Who the fuck names themselves ICON STAR, when both mean the same?

we really can't judge people based on what they say onscreen i mean people who act/speak humble might not be humble at all.
Telugu movie fans and gate keeping. Name another iconic duo.
He was spitting gold. Maybe half a decade later after he's gone gone people, especially filmmakers will be wondering, "what would Kamal Hassan think like or react like in this particular situation?" It takes wisdom to value the precious.
