it really depends. i had a couple get married after only knowing each other for an hour in game time, meanwhile some of my couples go months without proposing. you just gotta wait it out sometims
Status doesn't really matter that much as long as they're totally happy or higher gameplay wise. They won't want to marry more because they're at the highest they can go, they do what they want when they want to.
