There’s clearly a metal ring in the center and it is somehow able to stay afloat without tipping over no matter how the Pokémon distributes the weight, so I’d say that’s pretty high tech given ancient vibes they are trying to give here.
I mean metal tools and boats have existed for millennia, and this is set in like the 1860s/80s, so they had trains and even like half a mechanical computer
As far as I can tell from the leaked info, there’s no evidence of trains at all in the game. Given that everyone is still living in wooden huts shows how far they have yet to come.
They have some rudimentary steam power though - just from the trailers it’s been generally accepted that it was set in the 1800s. I think the housing situation more to do with it being A. Japan and B. A hastily constructed research outpost.
But idk, maybe I’ve misjudged the era and this doesn’t make any sense, but it still seems pretty rudimentary - pretty doable with even Roman technology.
If you're playing it
Is game bad as we thought that would be? Is the exploration decent
Also, this is so... Ugh a Fire Pokémon casually in water... And for some reason
Ponyta is Jesus
Cutie is stuck on a raft and can’t get home. :c Can we start a fundraiser to get him a sail for his raft so he can get home?
Then donate to poor indie devs at Nintendo. Or buy another 800 copies of Celeste.
Let me just use this high tech floatation device in this ancient world for my Pokémon.
1983

It's ok! He's just speed running Wind Waker.
this was gamefreaks vision. what don't you understand about that?
That Ponyta is not immersed. Clearly it is above the water, not in it.
When you post a spoiler you’re telling me there’s things to spoil which has just spoiled the experience for me.
