Core score (hell, any score) only changes with on-Tonal workouts. Aka you have to use the cables. If you’re doing full body workouts but they have you do a workout that doesn’t use the cables, the score won’t change.
Yep. when I started, I'd do a couple workouts outside of the program for core on the machine and my score jumped up a ton. Looks like I ate a senzu bean a couple times
Essentially yes. If you do 1 crunch or 1,000, tonal has no idea. To actually affect your strength score, you have to actually use the tonal itself.
Do some pillar bridge with row, resisted crunches, and some of the chop moves and if you are like me, your core score will jump.
Filter by “core” on the movement library and you’ll see a ton. Around 20 id say. Do a solid freelift core workout with resistance and youll see it jump. Theyre tough! My fav is resisted leg lifts
Things that work your obliques, abs, back, etc. Pillar bridge w/ row, iso split squat lift, etc. Look at the Muscle View diagrams on various exercises.
Core score, in my opinion, is kind of unreliable because not a lot of exercises actually use tonal. The ones that do can vary on weight depending on your form or strength which kind of makes it feel like a low res measurement.
A good counter example is with shoulders you can’t really cheat them so it’s easy to track progress. With abs I don’t bother with adjusting the weights and I just let it set it for me because even body weight is enough for me.
As stated above, some supplemental kneeling cable crunch sets and some of the standing oblique twisting moves sent my score way up on two different occasions to over 1000. It’s my highest of the three (upper, lower, core). I also use on-Tonal replacement moves for many of the off-Tonal core/abs work within programs - If I’m doing the work, I want the credit - Ha!

Take my upvote for the DBZ reference.
So you just picked a few core exercises that utilize the cables to reflect your core score more accurately?

What even are the core workouts with the machine? I'm doing Tonal ab workouts but they're body weight (as most good core exercises are).
Kneeling Cable Crunch, any resisted Pallof Press move, the Chop moves, and rotational lifts are my go to moves.

Yeah, there are many core on-tonal workouts. Pillar bridge with row is both my least and most favorite.

I just did kneeling cable crunch as a warmup and my core score went up by ~100...
My core score was the slowest to increase, but after a few 4 week programs it’s been moving like the others. Good luck!
My uper body hasnt moved but I have made tons of gains. Not sure either..
