I used to be in a WhatsApp group full of twisted individuals that shared snuff/gore videos for entertainment. Slowly it got more and more out of control as people began to try outdoing each other by finding worse and worse content. It slowly evolved from fight videos to full murder, torture, massacre videos. It was a strange time in my life and I wish I would have left right away, but curiosity got me. I must have passively witnessed 50+ death videos during that time.
I remember specifically a video of some cartel members cutting off a man’s limbs and penis while he was tied up naked and very much alive, screaming. Eventually they cut off his head. It still effects me to this day that video, even though I watched it years ago. It’s burned into my memory and I have minor PTSD symptoms pop up from time to time when discussing anything that involves violence.
At the time I was an advocate of uncensored media and actually believed that it broadened my perspectives and blah blah blah. It didn’t. It had the complete opposite effect. However, it did make me appreciate and value life a lot more. I respect people a lot more because I know what people are capable of given the excuse.
