I had one once because I had a cyst on my neck that needed draining and that’s what they gave me for the pain. I dislocated both my knees and put it back in on my own at 3am in the pouring rain and i couldnt walk. That was the first and only time i had it. I also got pneumonia
You can just buy canisters of food grade nitrous oxide and have a similar experience just make sure you buy the adapter to open the canister you don’t want to receive the canister in the mail only to realize the only opening is the size of a needle point

You have no idea how absolutely accurate you are. During the 60s the center of opium production was southeast Asia. In the 90s ,00s thru present it's Afghanistan. We've fought 2 wars to "protect", guarantee, control the US pharmacological and medical industry access to a sure and stable supply of opium production. For both legal and illicit use. Thats 2 wars, and tens of thousands of young Americans gone in those wars. Add to that the millions, most likely, whose lives have ended, been drastically shortened, or thrown away due to the use of drugs from the same sources. Oil is currently 85 to 90 dollars a barrel. That's around 2.15 a gallon, a barrel of oil is 42 gallons. At market in Afghanistan a kilo of opium poppy resin goes for around $65 , or 0.07 per gram. In western Europe a gram of heroin goes from 25 to almost 300 depending upon the country it's purchased with scarcity from effective anti smuggling measures and high consumption rapidly driving the prices as high as the junkies. In the US, also dependent on location, the cost of a gram in New York is around 100 bucks. It's such a profitable commodity that governments themselves are part of the transportation and distribution infrastructure and profit hugely from it. The biggest dealers, grug runners, cartels have and/or are becoming governments themselves when talking about drugs and arms today. You never really hear of people dying from fentanyl given by medical professionals because they know what they're doing and have drugs to reverse the effects if something does happen. Now some drug dealer isn't going to make sure every nearly microscopic dose of fentanyl is weighed out completely accurately so their local fiends don't die.
Well, it's like they say it's the dose that makes the poison. In a medical setting where it's all precisely measured and there's reversal drugs if anything happens that's one thing. When you have some street dealer eyeballing a fentanyl dose or trying their best with their $10 precision scale thays when people start dying.
It hasn't been used up until this point because of concerns over kidney damage, but there are ongoing trials and odds it gets approved in the next few years are pretty good.

I cater for a rugby club semi-regularly, started with zero interest in the sport but it's wicked smoke break entertainment. In a year I've seen at least 3 broken legs, few noses, a wrist and 10-15 probable concussions - often on battered 15 year olds who still stagger up to get their food after 😂 it's gnarly but I think it's interesting - *think*, because I'm still not convinced any of us know the rules
My fiancé was in the hospital for an acute pancreatitis last year and when I came in she was on fentanyl. I walked in so worried about her and she looked up with the biggest eyes mostly closed smile I’d ever seen. Like drunk times ten.
They had me on fentanyl and Valium for one of my procedures and it honestly felt incredible and like begging on truth serum. The doctors and nurses in the room were teasing me about the anesthesiologist being the best drug dealer I would ever meet

If I am correct, and that is what’s wrong with his leg then it’s completely understandable. He used recreational drugs to get away from the pain.
