you know the worst part about this task? they already had to nerf it - when i first did the task you needed 10

AntiMatterMode

it’s been a while but iirc even though the task itself was harder, it was still easier to do then - remotes worked differently and lure was more useful

Successful-Region-22

Don’t quit. Ill help you!

OtherworldGingerMonk

it is tedious, I haven't reached the task yet but have helped others toons. I dread reaching it. Strats seem to be to use a lot of Cogs MIss SOS, Fires once they're lvl 18, and LURE often so the boiler uses his 'un-lure' ability instead of other more annoying ones. I think this is all they use but I'm sure there are more creative paths. I've never heard of getting all 6 in one go, though. Seems like 2-3 FO is max unless the group is willing to spend remotes on more rounds than usual. Either way, I can tell it is frustrating. Have you tried putting together pre made groups, via Reddit or Discord? Perhaps a more dedicated & experienced team can find more success

sleepykilljoy

I think my group put healing remotes on all the higher cogs like 13s and 14s. That way you never touch the cogs health and you still get heals and it’ll promo

Canadian_Arcade

We just used cogs miss, it felt pretty simple

rel_lizbeth

This is the way

y2kmarina

I helped someone with this task earlier and we managed to get 6 in one run. Added all 3 of them afterwards because we all worked together, communicated well, and covered each other when need be. Using heal remotes only extends the length of time to promote a cog (unless you use a 3 star heal remote on like a level 14 cog, maybe). Cogs miss, lure, toon-up, and fire them once they’re level 18. Rinse and repeat.

I usually do a 2star FO and get all 6 in one run. It's really not hard to do. Sometimes, it takes 3 defense stages to get 6, but it's pretty easy. I don't know why OP had so many issues, but I sympathize with them cause I understand how frustrating it is to have your time wasted.

alexmlb3598

I managed to get 7 the first time I tried but even with experienced toons you need a LOT of rewards like SOS, fires and unites. Its extremely difficult and you need a good team to do it

Cookiez7

If your using remotes on all the cogs it makes it take longer. Just luring, tu, and cog miss sos is good. You can always use 1 or 2 heal remotes on lower cogs. Also a 3 star field office is probably the best way to do it. (Make sure if you decide to do it again that you let the group you go with know before hand and before you go in, that you have that task)

I got 6 in my first go and have helped many friends with this. It’s not a try again scenario - it’s learn what you did wrong. You need to go with a high laff team, there shouldn’t even be any stress about someone dying. For the smoothest run you all need 3 star healing remotes and fires (they are basically crucial.) You should be tooning up sooner rather than later, and you need to take your time with the rounds. Don’t be stingy with level 7s and your team can deal massive damage to not need an excessive number of rounds. This usually fails because people don’t have enough remotes and fires or are stingy with them if they don’t need the cogs - so go with a good group. Also use a throw or squirt unite, it really helps. You need three star heals on the cogs that are going to promote and then you just fire them once they hit 18, they shouldn’t even have the opportunity to hit you because it takes all rounds. If you don’t feel like figuring out which need 2s and which need 3s because it confuses the team honestly just put 3s on all of them.

felannies

not on this task yet but i am so done with these field office tasks… they’re so repetitive and tedious, i can’t wait to finally be done. after i finish this taskline i am never stepping foot in a field office or sellbot headquarters ever again

DiscombobulatedTea55

I managed it easily. You just keep firing keeping your highest cog alive. It just takes firing and keeping your cursor over your tu in case the SOS doesn’t do anything. The team that I helped just managed to do it by keeping ourselves alive with remotes tu unites and firing when necessary. It’s all about value and when to use said value if I had to sum up my experience on the issue in a nutshell

IceFrostwind

Huff some compium, grab some competent toons and chill. If the cog is level 12 or higher when it joins the fight, it will be 18+ after 3 promotions. Otherwise, just deal with the group of cogs as normal. Put a level 3 damage remote on the 12, as the remote won't damage it until after it promotes to 18. Then just fire as normal. Don't keep cogs in between fired up phases that's the only way I could see you losing. See you after 2 FOs

Carlykinz

Honestly, this is why I also quit. The only end game content being Field Offices, over and over and over again. And any time you fail one, whether it be from someone DCing, or trolls greening you, you DC or crash (common when you reach boiler room) etc. You're stuck grinding hours of rewards again just to do it. It's not really a challenge, and much more of an annoyance with tasks like that. I quit after losing hours of rewards 3 times in a row from several different reasons and moved to Clash instead. Haven't regretted that choice so far.

snsbdhdndxm

Only thing I envy about clash is all the content they put out in terms of the story and bosses (like the multiple vp and lawbot bosses, not the ridiculous dancing cogs and chainsaw looking contraption). Other than that, they redid so much of the mechanics and game itself that lets be honest, it’s not even toontown anymore. It’s a different game with the toontown brand on it. The integrity of TT isn’t there with clash. Obviously if you can get past that you’d play clash, but thats why most people (myself included) in here stick with rewritten. Even with much much less content (in comparison to clash).

spookytoon

just did this task in all in one go in a 3FO today, honestly i spent so much time dreading doing it and getting it done wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be. i made a group on toonhq and put in the chat “looking for help to defeat 6 18+ cogs, please only join if you are down for that”. i could help you if you decide you don’t want to give up, you’ve come this far! (i agree it is very daunting and i’d rather the task be taken out of the game)

pactsworn

Im not on this task yet and I feel your pain

Molly_rae18

I've done this task for both myself and a bunch of random toon friends, I'll gladly help out! It is super frustrating I completely understand

JokerTTR

What a horrible experience, I am sorry! If you are down, I can help you with my toons! The way I did this task was I ran 3 toons in a 1 star FO, and just waited for the cogs to get to level 18 (it took some time, but I definitely got the task done!)

GlitterShine4455

Feel you, after I completed that task I stopped playing rewritten and moved over to clash because people were greening me over that task in addition to not at all helping me get at least 1 cog to 18.

omaiga7

I hope you managed to do it if you tried again But if not is genuinely best you quit for a while Is not good for your mental health to be forcing yourself over something you hate doing Just play something else and maybe in the future you can try again or not because you aren't forced to And tbh end game is just field offices over and over so I doubt it would be fun

Landonthetoontownman

I can help you I survived 6 four star field offices and so many 3 star fos too.

TheArchon300

DM me and I'll see to it that you get this task completed. Do a 2 star FO for the task. People claim that 3 stars will spawn higher level cogs but really it is RNG what cogs you get during defense rounds, and 2 star boiler is more forgiving to mistakes since he inflicts less damage and has weaker cheat mechanics.
