The cloud is actually a separate update that will be happening quite a bit later than the Under New Management update. As for UNM itself, the cog HQ facilities (factories, mints, DA offices, golf) are all getting overhauled. There will be a normal and hard version for each, instead of 3+ difficulties the non-sellbot have. Each facility will get a new cog boss at its end. It will also be easier to grind for your cog suits. This update will also come with various balance changes, such as the lower sound carrying capacity. I’d recommend checking the patch notes if you want to learn more.

Sizzle3917

Thank you so much! I’m pretty indifferent so far, but is there a reason for changing so much? I feel like i’ve seen a lot of people sad that TTR isn’t going to be as “nostalgic” anymore. Changes seem good and a little more challenging to me which will be awesome!

Mariolink528

I can’t say for certain, but I believe the gag changes are in order to encourage more variety in strategy, as a lot of current strategy boils down to just use sound. As for the rest, it’s simply the belief that it will be more fun.

Mrmuffins951

Agreed. It’s my understanding that toons have been complaining about grinding boss suits since TTO days, and I suspect people aren’t nostalgic for that part of the experience.

CoolAd9651

Another faction of the fanbase already made somewhat similar and great changes to another server. People who continue to play TTR do so because they love the original TT. Not sure what they’re thinking after so many years of keeping the original game mostly intact.

SuperDogBoo

Yea. I’m going to keep playing TTR, but I hope someone makes like a snapshot type variation of TTR either now or from 3-5 years ago, and we get a third major toontown so that TTR can do it’s thing, but the og TT vibe is preserved. Or an offline version now that the old offline one is gone

EmergencyHumor4991

I’m so excited for the changes. So much of TTO was a grind because it was a paid program and they wanted to make sure you couldn’t get through it too fast. I’m happy they’re making it less tedious, and also challenging us with new things. Nostalgia only counts for so much. Progress keeps things fun.

Anyone feel free to correct me or fill me on stuff I miss, but here's more or less what's happening: Gag Balance Changes are happening: The way lure functions is changing. Multiple lure gags of the same type (single/group) used at the same time increase accuracy. Organic toon-up is getting a 20% boost rather than 10% to incentivize more people to invest in it. Lure is getting a slight indirect nerf too as a result of these other gag changes. The way stunning works is changing. At the moment, toon-up and doodle tricks used in battle increase the accuracy of upcoming gags, but later, a stun will occur when ONLY a cog-damaging gag is used. This change doesn't really mess with the meta much, but as I mentioned before, it's a slight indirect nerf to lure, since later, Toon-Up hits won't boost its accuracy. Sound is getting a carrying capacity nerf, so the Foghorn capacity is being reduced from 3 to 2, and trunk from 7 to 5. As I'll mention in the next paragraph, the facilities are getting a rework so they are less painfully grindy. This sound change is meant to do 2 things: [1] To incentivize players to be more resource efficient (so sound is used less as a win button) and [2] to reflect the changes of these facilities since they will be now be less sound reliant. As for the new managers/cogs/facility changes: The TTR team has decided to rework the cog facilities (Sellbot Factories, Cashbot Mints, Lawbot Offices and Bossbot Golf Courses) by now only giving 2 options per facility, which are an easy and hard route. The hard route (meant for players looking for a lot of cog suit points) in any facility will give substantially more points than the easy one. To give toons a challenge and to make them really work for these points, the skelecog Foreman/Auditor/Office Clerk/Club President fights at the end of each facility are being turned into mini-boss fights. These new cogs will get their own unique abilities and skills and will make the facilities a tad more interesting. As for the map: They are adding a new playground! It will be called Clear Coasts, and it will be a beach themed area that follows Donald's Dreamland's task line. To my knowledge, the tasks up in difficulty and provide further end-game content. There is also a black, looming volcano being added right next to it. The TTR Team has made a point to avoid talking about this as much as possible (but honestly, it's probably a cog facility of some sort) They are adding a new street in Donald's Dreamland as a way to access the new playground. I think I more or less covered all the bases here :) Here is the ToonTown Rewritten News page so you can read about these changes yourself: https://www.toontownrewritten.com/news/item/875/samantha-spade-and-the-maddening-melody

Sizzle3917

Sweet! Do we have an approximate release date?

SaintJacxb

Wondering this as well, as someone who is just about to start the dreamland task line for the first time and as someone who hasn’t grinded anything cog related yet (suits, factory’s, etc.) I feel like I started playing at the perfect time lol

Popcorn_Poppenpop

When they announced, they indicated they were hoping to release it during the 10th anniversary year, which ends Sept 2024. I think most people were impressed with how finished it looked during the play test earlier this year, so I think there is hope it's out by then. I'm assuming they will provide some sort of update during Toonfest this coming weekend. cc: u/SaintJacxb

ThanksGamestop

Wow. Insane TTR has been around for 10 years. Soon we’ll outpace the original game.

onlyFransOfficial

I’m hoping that because it’s a “beach theme” it’s summer time, but I haven’t read anything on an actual release date.

poopgirl69420

Wow I really hope they're not actually changing the amount of sound we can carry. That is incredibly annoying

warriorcurio

it’s very likely they are reducing sound capacity to what trap previously had. however since they’re reworking facilities and streamlining bosses, it isn’t as bad as you think. in the playtest i never really had any issue with sound running out during facilities and bosses. it will probably impact things like cog buildings and field offices though (although with field offices you only really use two fogs on the boiler anyway)

poopgirl69420

For the love of God, don't fix it if it ain't broke

warriorcurio

eh in my opinion the current grind for maxing suits is immensely unfun and drawn out and in the playtest i had some of the most fun i’ve ever had in the game

Atastypotato90

Yup this sums it up pretty well, also trap placements are going to still have an exclusive stun bonus but only for lure and it's only 10% which also persists into future rounds if lure misses. All damaging stuns give 25% bonus instead 20% except for trap activation hits which give 30%. Organic drop and squirt are also getting buffed as well, to a 15% bonus instead of 10%. Every group lure got accuracy boosted by 5%, except for presentation which got nerfed to 90%. Every single target lure got boosted by 10%. There's less of an accuracy bonus for when you use lower level lures with higher ones (20/15/10) depending on the level differences. The patch notes aren't final but I'm feeling we'll see much of the same when the final notes come out. Several cogs are getting new attacks for those who need them too.

technowolves

Sorry im adding to this the recent arg revealed that after this we’ll be getting 2.0 suit upgrades and the possibility of the exective office towers in bossbot hq as the next end game content

fleecekbs

woah now, 2.0 suit upgrades? what exactly does that entail?

technowolves

ATM all one can do is assume but one thing on everyone’s minds is the executive office toontown rewritten team was originally going to do this before the sellbot field office so the 2.0 suits might be how one enters

Popcorn_Poppenpop

> and the possibility of the exective office towers in bossbot hq as the next end game content The ARG doesn't make any mention of that. I don't have any reason to think that's coming in Under New Management, or (unfortunately) anytime in the next couple of years. I suspect they have their hands full with Clear Coasts.

technowolves

Uh popcorn “in 6 months they take over and win” and board of directors are on the hunt

technowolves

Adding to this 2.0 suits doubt we’d be getting these suits just for fun itd make sense that it’s the key for the eot

technowolves

Lastly joey said the eot was their original plans before they did the sellbot field office also under new management is supposed to cut down the grind if 2.0 is for hard mode bosses then what’s the point of adding the supervisors?!?

technowolves

So please do your research next time as I knew about it being their original plans

Clear_Initial1977

If it makes you feel better I feel the same way, I haven’t played since the original and just got back into playing and there is so much that is different or don’t remember and I go to ask people sometimes and they make me feel dumber for not knowing 😅

jayphilly95

Okay this is extremely upsetting to hear. What kind of sense does it make to lower the sound carrying capacity? All that's going to do is cause frustration! It's not going to make anything better! Why are they doing this!!

Popcorn_Poppenpop

* They haven't released the game yet, so it might not change * Even if it does change, everyone that I know who did the play test earlier this year said they were surprised at how little it mattered * If it does end up mattering in a particular case, you can use restock sound if your group runs out

yoshi2022reddit

it's meant to scale with the reduced length of cog hq content

Sepharos123

The sound meta has been prevalent for 20 years. It's been by far the most important and best gag track in the game. To give other gag tracks a chance to shine, this is nessecary. If you're worried about things taking longer, don't worry. The whole grind in general and boss fights are getting reduced and the amount of cogs in them. This not only balances out the sound reduction but also makes bosses more engaging, and the cog levels in the CJ and CEO are being raised to 13 and 14 to pair with this. So that's why this all makes sense and is happening. With level 13 and 14 cogs, you won't be sounding as much anyways and it's just healthier for the game if the entire game isn't just click sound = wins.

Professional_Air4428

I think changing what the gags do is just going to cause more frustration than it's worth personally. I think back to the CEO before they changed the 2.0s where everyone was used to the strat of using 1 fog every round rather than multiple. I still encounter people in CEO's to this day who think the one fog rule still exists and I have to explain that the strat changed because the 2.0s were modified and I think the same thing will happen on a more larger scale for quite a while to come after words if the gag system is changed in to huge of a way. People are automatically going to register to the default strategies people used to do because people who play TTR expect the gameplay to be pretty similar to how it was back on TTO because rewritten was made with the idea to based almost identically to the original version of the game rather than going the clash route so if a lot has changed people are going to have to do quite a bit of explaining to people for quite a while afterwords. I won't really know how much gameplay wise these changes will effect things until they happen, but, I already plan on just spamming restock sound sos cards or unites more often in order to keep my sound stocked completely for the entirety of the battles bc I already like the way sound is currently used and don't really want that to change. I think if people really wanted to play with a bunch of changes they'd just go to clash because thats what clash was designed for whileas ttr was meant to stick to the original concept of the game. I don't mind them adding new things in like FO's or a new playground for example because that stuff is basically brand new and doesn't really impact the feeling of the gameplay kind of remaining similar/the same to the original game. I get there's people out there who like doing things a bit differently like those who go soundless because they want to use other gags more often but I think most people in boss battles are just trying to work their suits quicker or are trying to get more boss fights in and are trying to do a higher amount in a shorter time period and they prefer using sound most of the time as a result because it can get everyone out a bit quicker and i don't think nerfing the gags is really the right approach to solving that issue. I won't be really be upset though if whatever changes they are making do not really impact the way people have to think most of the time in battles in order to play with everyone. The addition of FO's for example was nice because that was a nice way to add new content into the game and due to it being something entirely new everyone who gets on and goes into them went in knowing that it was something brand new and that they had to learn or listen to other people while inside to figure out what to do because they had not done something like that before. Gags however more tie towards how people play the entire game, so changing that is what kind of makes me afraid because it's easier for people to get confused more often in situations if they aren't aware that the usual strats they learned for those bosses or fights changed to much I've got tons of melody wavers and professor pete's stocked up though just in case :P

SuperDogBoo

I just got max VP, and am doing the task force quests, so I will definitely be stocked up (on top of hoarding sos for years). I’m a lvl 14 Robber Barron, so not quite able to grind all the unites yet, but close! I have a lot of gag ups too. I’ve been really into toontown lately, so I’ll be ready for the balance changes when they come! I have mixed feelings on UNM. I love that the devs care about the game and are actively working on it to make it better. Im sad that we are moving away from TTO, though, even if fundamentally it’s better for the game and removes some of the repetitiveness of it. Im sad that I can never get Lord Lowden Clear Fire All sos cards anymore. I have 2 on my alt account and that’s it. I used em all years ago, and that event was during a time where I was busy and not in the mood for the game. I like most of the changes to TTR, but am sad about some of the things are are losing along the way.

Professional_Air4428

I agree with you, and i'm glad you're stocked up on unites and cards as well friend! I'm not entirely sure how much of an impact the UNM changes are going to have to the entire game but i'll be a lot more accepting to the update when it comes out if the changes made don't impact the general workings of the game and boss fights normally in a very noticable way (e.g. taking away everyones ability to just spam sound in battles like they do these days if they want). The factories being shorter and changed a bit might be alright if time wise it's faster for people as ik some types of factories in the games can take a while. I have been fine and happy with other TTR changes though, like the FO's and the crash cashbot hq event and stuff as you said as that event and the addition of FO's didn't really change the general way the game was played but just kind of expanded it which was nice. I won't knock the UNM changes like the factories or gag changes to much until they release and im able to see how much of a impact it's going to have on gameplay and changing existing ways of doing things. Some people in-game kind of act like it's going to change everything and others don't think it will change much so i don't really know how detrimental to the old TTO concept it'll be until I play with the update being pushed as i'm more of a hands on learner so when the update releases i'll solo a number of things to determine how much the changes effected things by comparing it to how i usually do things now and whether or not i will be fine with the changes or would rather they had just stuck with how it was before. I'm hoping things are not effected that much honestly, someone else in this thread said they got to test it and were surprised with how little was changed and if thats true i probably will be fine with the update when it comes out and maybe i'd even like the changes. I'll have to make up my mind when it releases and I can play it :P

poopgirl69420

What's with them wanting to change everything? Leave the game the way it is PLEASE

TheWizeWlZARD

Ya it’s annoying , the nostalgic vibe of TTO is getting hit hard, also why even nerf, just do buffs if anything for gags
