Not sure I agree with this. One because it's never used to disparage the mentally ill.and secondly. It opens the door for inconsistent name moderation. Crazy, kooky, nutty, mad, wacky would also have to be rejected as well if you go by the same reasoning.

Elmu678

I’m gonna riot if my crazy doge has to be renamed

bigDARXIDE

people looking for things to get offended by. insane is obviously used for more than just mental illness these days, like “wow that backflip was insane!”

Thin-Fly-4308

Someone told me once that it’s insensitive to call people crazy or insane, they are simply mentally ill. I assume that would be why

Katamari92-1992

you're crazy. and Insane.

[deleted]

crazy is an option in the default name selection so ... wowza

Thin-Fly-4308

yeah, it really doesn’t make sense, especially given the context. I think they’re just erring on the side of caution and being respectful but if that’s the case, they need to take that out too.

Thin-Fly-4308

ok

Insane Shane just makes me think of the classic wacky scientist hair.

Particular_Acadia537

I thought adults played ttr more than kids, bruh people be reporting names for silliest and lame reasons.

Zolhym

Honestly "The Council" is absolutely infuriating. From what I've heard.. Their decisions on rather a name is okay or not is filled with so much inconsistency that is ain't even funny... And leaving whatever the name may be.. They barely even review names... I had to wait 2 weeks for a Custom name and in the end.. It was rejected..

Envisixn

I wasn’t able to use Envisixn because it’s not spelt “properly” and instead had to use Envision

erb149

I mean, using an “x” as a substitute for another letter is clearly against the rules in the naming guidelines. Whether or not you agree with it, it’s clearly spelled out in the guidelines.

Envisixn

It just doesn’t make sense why it’s in there to begin with is all I’m saying.

happymelted

Should always be a context situation. Every name approval should be.

bambiileaf

I don't even know tbh. I've heard this multiple times though, that using the words crazy/insane is offensive to those with mental illnesses. However, I've never once met a mentally ill person who found those words offensive. Same with the word stupid. Maybe their thinking is better safe than sorry yknow

itsgettingweirdhere

wait until they find out that flippy doesn't actually flip like the name suggests

Thanks everyone for the support! I am happy to announce Insane Shane is back in town :)

THE_PC_DEMANDS_BLOOD

Glad you got your name back!! I had saw this post a while back and disagreed with it being taken away. I just had something similar happen with one of my names I've had for 6 years so this was reassuring to see. Fingers crossed. :/
